Workflow Patterns in Process Modeling
Alexandra Fortis,Florin Fortis
Computer Science , 2009,
Abstract: This paper proposes an introduction to one of the newest modelling methods, an executable model based on workflows. We present the terminology for some basic workflow patterns, as described in the Workflow Management Coalition Terminology and Glossary.
Tailored business solutions by workflow technologies
Florin Fortis,Alexandra Fortis
Computer Science , 2009,
Abstract: VISP (Virtual Internet Service Provider) is an IST-STREP project, which is conducting research in the field of these new technologies, targeted to telecom/ISP companies. One of the first tasks of the VISP project is to identify the most appropriate technologies in order to construct the VISP platform. This paper presents the most significant results in the field of choreography and orchestration, two key domains that must accompany process modeling in the construction of a workflow environment.

Business Process Modeling Notation - An Overview
Alexandra Fortis
Computer Science , 2009,
Abstract: BPMN represents an industrial standard created to offer a common and user friendly notation to all the participants to a business process. The present paper aims to briefly present the main features of this notation as well as an interpretation of some of the main patterns characterizing a business process modeled by the working fluxes.

Analysis of some properties for a basic Petri net model
Alexandra Fortis, PhD Candidate
Annals. Computer Science Series , 2007,
Abstract: The formalism of the models with Petri networks provides a sound theoretical base, supported by powerful mathematical methods able to extract information necessary for the formalism and simulation of the real system that provides features of competition and synchronization. The paper presents a model based on a Petri net, in order to extract information relative to the technological producing process of a food additive.

Indexing Research Papers in Open Access Databases
Alexandra-Emilia Fortis
Computer Science , 2009,
Abstract: This paper synthesizes the actions performed in order to transform a classic scientific research journal - 'Annals. Computer Science Series' - available only in printed form until 2008, into a modern e-journal with free access to the full text of the articles. For achieving this goal, the research papers have been included in various article databases, portals and library catalogs which offered a high visibility to the journal.
Rumo à pós-modernidade em políticas públicas: a epistemologia situacional de Carlos Matus
Fortis, Martin Francisco de Almeida;
RAE eletr?nica , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1676-56482010000200009
Abstract: the article discusses the situational approach developed by carlos matus, whose operational techniques (pes methodology) were widely disseminated within the area of government planning, in contrast to his epistemology, which is largely ignored in specialist academic circles. questioning the positivist view and reductionist economicism of the dominant orthodoxy, the situational epistemology proposes that public policies be thought of within the logic of the social game, the theoretical fundamentals of which are complexity, indecision and uncertainty. after describing the intellectual trajectory of carlos matus, the bibliographic analysis research methodology is used for investigating the main texts and establishing evidence of their contribution to the post-modern orientation of government management. reviewing the literature of public policies, it is argued that the adoption of a situational perspective might inspire alternative solutions for contemporary problems in public administration, such as increasing administrative efficiency and strengthening democracy.
Considerations on Resource Usage in Exceptions and Failures in Workflows
Alexandra Fortis,Alexandru Cicortas,Victoria Iordan
Annals. Computer Science Series , 2008,
Abstract: The paper presents a description of some point of view of different authors related to the failures and exceptions that appear in workflows, as a direct consequence of unavailability of resources involved in the workflow. Each of these interpretations is typical for a certain situation, depending on the authors' interpretation of failures and exceptions in workflows modeling real dynamical systems.
