Uniqueness in an Integral Geometry Problem and an Inverse Problem for the Kinetic Equation
Arif Amirov,Fikret Glgeleyen,Masahiro Yamamoto
Mathematics , 2015,
Abstract: In this paper, we discuss the uniqueness in an integral geometry problem in a strongly convex domain. Our problem is related to the problem of finding a Riemannian metric by the distances between all pairs of the boundary points. For the proof, the problem is reduced to an inverse source problem for a kinetic equation on a Riemannian manifold and then the uniqueness theorem is proved in semi-geodesic coordinates by using the tools of Fourier analysis.

Creative Education (CE) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2013.412A2001
Abstract: According to the results of national and international level examinations, the achievement of students in Turkey in mathematics is low. Elementary school teachers play a significant role in the education of students. Elementary school teachers differ from other teachers in that they are responsible for teaching more than one subject. In determining the competencies and performance indicators of elementary school teachers, the Ministry of National Education has paid regard to the common ground and integrating characteristics of the subjects rather than the special content knowledge of each subject. However, owing to the fact that each subject taught by the elementary school teachers necessitates different disciplines and approaches, it is also essential to determine the special content competencies related to the subjects being taught. The objective of this study is to analyze the opinions of elementary school teachers on their mathematical special content competencies. The study group consists of 72 elementary school teachers who are employed in official primary schools in Manisa. The data were collected through questionnaires. The collected raw data were analyzed by content analysis. Mathematics special content competencies of elementary school teachers were grouped under three main categories. These themes are mathematics special content knowledge, knowledge about mathematics teaching and learning as well as confidence, attitude and values regarding mathematics. Teachers’ opinions particularly underline the significance of field content knowledge, while laying less weight on associating the program content with daily life and with other subjects. It is observed that the teachers are aware of the information in the written sources; however, they are not fully aware of the process of putting the program content into practice, nor their skills. Some teachers are aware of the fact that it is important to teach mathematics topics and associate them with life, rather than possessing knowledge about mathematics special content at an advanced level. Furthermore, little emphasis is given to “utilizing appropriate measurement-evaluation methods”. A great majority of teachers stress keeping the students active and teaching the subject by taking the students’ level into account; however, only few make reference to the importance of treating students equally and knowing about the differences among students.

International Journal of Human Sciences , 2010,
Abstract: The main reason of this study is to show the relations of the ideas of the the police officers work and have teams at Super-First, The Second and The Third football Leagues, the levels of education, the application of current laws according to the in-service training situation on the issue of sport security, the prevention of the spectators aggressiveness and the relations among the views related with the reasons of the spectators’ aggressiveness. The universe of the search survey was evik Kuvvet ube Müdürlü ü. The sampling was constituted by was constituted by 370 staffs, 200 staffs from stanbul for the Super-First Leagues, 130 staffs from zmir for The Second League, 40 staffs from Aksaray for The Third League. A study based on an Inquiry Method, whose practicability was tested before, about the case of preventing applications towards the violence in football, was carried out to the participants, these staffs. After applying the inquiry, the accounts gathered from the inquiry, were classified according to the variants on the issue of the subject matter. The data processed on a computer were rated by using anova, t-test and frequency distribution. An important difference among the opinions of the police staffs, working at the cities which have the Super-First, The second and The Third football Leagues about the application of current laws and the prevention of the spectators aggressiveness were determined according to the findings of the survey (p<0,05). On the other hand, it was also determined that there were also important differences among the opinions on the issue of sport security according to the in-service training they had in applying current laws, the prevention of spectators’ aggressiveness and the reasons of the spectators’ aggressiveness (p<0,05). The police staffs, joining the survey, charge some different people or associations as responsible for the violence in football. They classify them such as irresponsible spectators, cheer-leaders, the organizations of supporters, media and the club managers. As a result, the police staffs working on the subject matter department will be successful on the condition of removing the difficulties in using the current laws towards prevention of violence in football and moreover it was judged that in-service training about the issue related with the issue will affect efficiently the police applications.

Dicle Medical Journal , 2008,
Abstract: In this study, the cIinic and microbiologic effects of the systemic spiramycin administration as an adjunct to scaIing, root planining and curetage, on patients with chronicperiodontitis were investigated. A total of 42 chronicpatients (15 women and 25 men, their age ranging between 35 to 65 with an average of 43.4) with chronicperiodontitis were included in this study. The patients were divided into the spiramycin and control groups. The scaling, root planining and curetage treatments were appIied to alI subjects. The application was combined with the use of 2 gr spiramycin a day for 2 weeks, where as antibacterial treatment was not appIied to the controls. The periodontal status of patients included in the study before and after therapy was evaluated. Using the indices, measurements and methods such as plaque index, gingival index, gingival bleeding time index, pocket depth measurement and microbiological investigations, together with t-test and ki-square tests. The evaluation of findings in this study shows a marked improvement in two groups for all indices and measurements, while the values of spiramycin groups were statistically significant when compared to the controls. BioMedical Engineering OnLine , 2003, DOI: 10.1186/1475-925x-2-5
Abstract: In modern medicine, large amounts of data are generated, but there is a widening gap between data collection and data comprehension. It is clear that a single human can not process all of the data available and make a rational decision of basic trends. Thus, there is a growing pressure for intelligent data analysis techniques to facilitate the creation of knowledge to support clinicians in making decisions [1-3].Understanding the major risk factors of a diesease is an important factor for clinicians in prevention strategy. The attending physician plays an important role providing information to reduce those risk factors. It is up to the physician whether to warn patients at risk about the major causes of a particular disease and the degree of risk that they are facing. Consider the example of a 66-year-old person who does not know about stroke (also in this study, ischemic stroke) but wants to know the risk of having certain medical test results outside of normal. Explaining the relative risk of stroke given the test results and given the evidence of previous cases interpreted with the aid of intelligent data analysis methods will make the situation clearer.Stroke is an important health issue worldwide and expressing and interpreting risk factors provides vital epidemiological information [4-13]. This study discusses a computational method for highlighting the major risk factors of a small population of diabetic patients with and without non-embolic stroke by performing dependency analysis with local and global classification aspects. For this purpose, the follow-up data of 22 diabetic patients with ischemic stroke (non-embolic) and 22 diabetic patients without stroke were collected over several years [6]. Average population age was 66.2 ± 9.9 For the stroke group, age was 66.2 ± 9.9 (mean and s.d.) years and 61 ± 6.1 (mean and s.d.) years for the control group. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is diagnosed by a fasting glucose level higher than 140 mg/dl and random glucose l
