Figueirêdo, Régis Santana de;Figueirêdo, Eugênio Santana de;
Arquivos Brasileiros de Oftalmologia , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0004-27492006000300023
Abstract: three cases of corneal-conjunctival intraepithelial neoplasia treated differently with mitomycin c based on clinical presentation are reported. the selected patients were followed at the department of ophthalmology of the casa de saúde santo inácio. according to the clinical appearance of the lesions, 0.04% mitomycin c was employed in three different ways: 1) postoperative chemoablation; 2) preoperative chemoreduction; and 3) isolated chemoablation. regression of the neoplastic lesion was observed in all cases with no recurrence detected during a follow-up time ranging from 18 to 29 months. conjunctival hyperemia was the single side effect. the use of mitomycin c seems to be efficient and safe for the treatment of corneal-conjunctival intraepithelial neoplasia under several approaches.

Abstract: hyaluronic acid is a polysaccharide of the glycosaminoglycan family present in mammal tissues. in the eye, it can be found in the cornea, the sclera and the vitreous humor. currently, it has been employed in several medical specialties, including ophthalmology. the objective of this paper is to demonstrate the various current and future ophthalmic applications of this substance.
Choques transitórios em variáveis econ?micas
Figueirêdo, Erik Alencar de;Leite Filho, Paulo Amilton Maia;
Economia Aplicada , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-80502005000400006
Abstract: this study aims to test the existence of near unit roots and local persistence in several important variables of economic models (product market, ccapm and black-scholes' formula). it is argued that the rejection of the unit root hypothesis will not necessarily imply in accepting a stationary and ergodic behavior for the time series. in order to do that, the near unit root model developed by phillips, moon and xiao (2001) was selected and an estimation strategy was used. such strategy is described as follows: a) the df-gls test, suggested by elliott, rothenberg and stock (1996); b) optimal selection of lags used by ng and perron (2001); c) the non parametric correction for terms of perturbation non i.i.d., from the kernel smoothing. the empirical results show, for some series, a characterization of the dgp from the local persistence.
Algumas simula??es de efeitos de mobilidade de renda sobre o nível de bem-estar

Revista Brasileira de Economia , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-71402009000400001
Abstract: this study intends to measure the relationship between brazilian economic welfare and income mobility. to achieve that it was used a model of intertemporal consumption proposed by gottschalk e spolaore (2002). this theoretical support allows to evaluate isolated the two sources of mobility: the reversibility and the source independence. the simulations suggest that flexibilizantion of brazilian social structure, represented by an increase of income mobility, results a positive impact on the economic welfare.
In vitro embryo production in small ruminants
Freitas, Vicente José de Figueirêdo;Melo, Luciana Magalh?es;
Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-35982010001300045
Abstract: this paper reviews the technical bases of in vitro embryo production in small ruminants with special attention to the results obtained by our group in northeastern brazil. the laparoscopic oocyte recovery in hormonally treated live animals indicates a promising future for the application of this technique to genetic improvement program. new molecular biology tools should provide information to improve the efficiency of in vitro maturation. furthers efforts have to be made to improve the oocyte maturation and to standardize the semen-capacitating process.
A autopercep??o da voz do adolescente
Almeida, Anna Alice Figueirêdo de;Behlau, Mara;
Revista da Sociedade Brasileira de Fonoaudiologia , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-80342009000200008
Abstract: purpose: to verify the self-perception of adolescents concerning their own voice. methods: a questionnaire regarding voice and communication was applied to 80 volunteer adolescents, 58 female (72.5%) and 22 male (27.5%), with ages ranging from 10 to 19 years, participants of the program of adolescent healthcare of the state of s?o paulo. subjects answered the questionnaire themselves, and data were statistically analyzed. results: the main age range was from 16 to 17 years (23 - 28.8%). half of the subjects (41 - 51.3%) reported positive vocal characteristics, classifying it as normal (42 - 52.5%); in addition, 33 (41.3%) did not detect vocal modifications during adolescence, demonstrating satisfaction with their production (65 - 81.3%), referring that their voices matched their personality (27 - 33.8%) and, therefore, they did not wish to modify it (61 - 76,3%). the three most frequently reported negative vocal habits were: yelling (30 - 37.5%), drinking cold beverages (20 - 32.5%), and smoking (22 - 27.5%). in turn, the subjects reported as beneficial vocal habits: drinking water (31 - 38.8%), singing (30 - 37.5%) and not yelling (20 - 25%). young men reported vocal problems related to pitch (54.5%, p<0.001), and young women, to loudness (32.1%, p<0.001). these problems were pointed out as impairing factors to their communication. conclusion: the perception of adolescents about their voice and communication interferes in their relationship with others, in their way of thinking and acting, and the way they interact with reality and the society.

RISCO DE SALINIZA O DOS SOLOS DA BACIA HIDROGRáFICA DO RIO COL NIA - SUDESTE DA BAHIA/BRASIL

Engevista , 2008,
Abstract: In this work, a risk map soil salinization was generated to obtain information about Colonia river watershed management plan. The salinization process is a resulted of the interaction among several factors, the salinization soil map it was done based on climate, soils, river water electric conductivity, hydrological network, land slope and vegetative cover. All the maps were done with ArcView 3.2a, what is a SIG (Geographic Information System), in scale of 1:500000, with space resolution of 30 meters. The multicriteria analysis AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) was used to criteria′s weights definition. Thus, were generated four classes of soil salinization risk, where 9.62% of the watershed area corresponds to low salinization risk class, 35.53% to medium risk, 39.86% to high risk and 14.99% to very high risk.
