Discurso das m?es e participa??o das crian?as na resolu??o de tarefas de seria??o: Impacto do desenvolvimento cognitivo e da linguagem das crian?as e escolaridade das m?es

Análise Psicológica , 2010,
Abstract: the purpose of this research was to assess the relation between mothers’ guidance speech and children’s participation in the problem-solving tasks. fifty mother-child dyads were videotaped during two joint problem-solving tasks. the children were aged between 3 and 5. the tasks were designed to elicit a didactic setting (the construction of a series of pieces of different lengths, with and without a model). the mothers’ speech was analysed according to its content, as per wertsch’s (1985) view of the semiotic devices that adults use to establish inter-psychological functioning (abbreviation and referential perspective), and considering metacognitive and cognitive mediation. the children’s participation was assessed on the basis of the extent to which they were responsible for solving the problem and was related to the mothers’ scaffolding speech, with consideration given to the variables mother’s formal schooling and the children’s cognitive and language development. the results reveal that the mothers adopted a general guidance speech script, but in the seriation with a model the metacognitive challenges were more frequent, while in the series without a model it was the cognitive mediation that was used relatively more often. however, there was no significant relationship between the discourse of the mothers who employed higher level metacognitive or cognitive challenges and the children’s participation in the tasks. these results are discussed in terms of the child and mother variables on the basis of the socio-constructivist perspective taken by karmiloff smith’s representational redescription model (1992).
PUSHED NEWS: When the news comes to the cellphone
Antonio Fidalgo
Brazilian Journalism Research , 2011,
Abstract: Combining two findings of recent surveys on the Internet which state that 1) “the Internet will soon surpass all other media as a main source for national and international news” and 2) “the mobile device will be the primary connection tool to the Internet in 2020” leads us to the conclusion that smartphones will soon be the primary source for news access. But if so, how will news come to the Internetconnected cellphones? In accordance with the distinction, already drawn in 1997, between push and pull technologies as two different forms of how content is delivered to the end users, cellphones are characterized as push devices (passive reception), in opposition to computers, classified as pull devices (active reception). The news items that fit cellphones are pushed news. And they will be pushed as SMS, e-mails, tweets and through news aggregators.
Carbon Stock Assessment at a Regional Level, on Pure and Mixed Stands, Based on Inventory Data: A Case Study  [PDF]
Teresa Fidalgo Fonseca, Carlos Pacheco Marques
Open Journal of Forestry (OJF) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/ojf.2011.11002
Abstract: Following Kyoto protocol considerable research efforts have been made on carbon sequestration assessment of forest stands. The aim of the present study was to test the adequacy of two documented methodologies to obtain stand level dry biomass and carbon estimates, considering its application at regional scale, for pure and mixed stands. The procedures refer to: 1) the estimation of dry biomass through the use of tree biomass models and 2) the use of biomass conversion and expansion factors (BCEF) to convert stem volume raw data into aboveground dry biomass. Using the dry biomass values, carbon stock is easily estimated using conversion factors, being 0.50 a generally accepted value. Case study reports to a pilot zone with pure and mixed stands of Eucalyptus globulus Labill and Pinus pinaster Ait. in Portugal. Procedure 1) gives the most reliable results when the database includes detailed information at tree level, both for pure or mixed stands. When individual tree data is not accessible, option 2) is an interesting option to consider for pure stands. The use of BCEF-based procedure in mixed stands is not advocated at least when considering the direct use of a single conversion factor, as the value of the factor strongly depends on the forest composition.

DEFENDIENDO TERRITORIOS DESDE EL EXILIO: DESPLAZAMIENTO Y RECONSTRUCCIóN EN COLOMBIA CONTEMPORáNEA
SALCEDO FIDALGO,ANDRéS;
Revista Colombiana de Antropología , 2008,
Abstract: in this article i analyze how forced displacement is understood by different population groups and the articulations that this bellicist geopolitics presents between war, social movements and urban reconfiguration. drawing on displaced people testimonies i explore the complex task of remembrance of place which counters the dominant discourses of humanitarian neutrality. i also examine the discourses of ethnic movements about their past and for the defense of territory and culture in the city. i propose the term "reconstruction" to account for the activation of new social and political spaces that the newcomers establish not only with the communities they left behind but with migrants of their own kin, ethnic groups, or ideological affiliations, already settled in the capital
Foraging behavior of Melipona rufiventris Lepeletier (Apinae; Meliponini) in Ubatuba, SP, Brazil
Fidalgo, AO.;Kleinert, AMP.;
Brazilian Journal of Biology , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1519-69842007000100018
Abstract: this study describes how the foraging activity of melipona rufiventris is influenced by the environment and/or by the state of a colony. two colonies were studied in ubatuba, sp (44° 48? w and 23° 22? s) from july/2000 to june/2001. these colonies were classified as strong (colony 1) and intermediate (colony 2) according to their general conditions: population and brood comb size and number of food pots. the bees were active from dawn to dusk. the number of pollen loads presented a positive correlation with relative humidity (rs = 0.401; p <0.01) and was highest between 70 and 90%. however, it was negatively correlated with temperature (rs = -0.228; p <0.01) showing a peak between 18 and 23 °c. the number of nectar loads presented a positive correlation with temperature (rs = 0.244; p <0.01) and light intensity (rs = 0.414; p <0.01); it was greater between 50 and 90% of relative humidity and 20 and 30 °c of temperature. they collected more nectar than pollen throughout the day, and were more active between 6 and 9 hours. workers from colony 1 (strong) collected nectar in greater amounts and earlier than those from colony 2 (intermediate). the number of pollen, nectar and resin loads varied considerably between the study days. peaks of pollen collection occurred earlier in months with longer days and in a hotter and more humid climate. the foraging behavior of m. rufiventris is probably affected by the state of the colony and by environmental conditions, notably temperature, relative humidity, light intensity and length of the day.
Evolu??o do Uso Solo e Avalia??o do Valor Paisagístico e de Recreio na área de Paisagem Protegida da Serra do A?or
Gaspar,José; Fidalgo,Beatriz;
Silva Lusitana , 2002,
Abstract: changes in the landscape protected area of serra do a?or, occurred as a consequence of the interaction of environmental factors such as climate and geomorphology, with cultural social and economic driven forces. this work studied the extent of the changes in land use that occurred in the area during a thirty year period and proposes an operational way of computing an amenity index for the area, based on spatial attributes such as visibility, accessibility and visual diversity, and other intrinsic attributes of the different patches. we came to the conclusion that the studied area has high dynamics in what concerns land use changes. the main evidence is the fact that the area of broadleaved increased whereas the area of pine forests and agricultural areas decreased dramatically. that index, with a quantitative and spatial dimension, allowed the discrimination of areas with different recreation and landscape potential values, as well as the identification of the sensitive areas from the landscape point of view. additionally it can be used in decision aid at tactical and strategic planning levels. the methodological aspects are discussed in terms of their ability to quantify landscape change and usefulness for management purposes.

Based on discussions about the different kinds of assessment used in education (Bachman, 1990; Alvarez-Méndez, 2002), this paper firstly examines the theoretical backgrounds that have traditionally supported actions taken within the school environment. Then, more inclusive forms of assessment are discussed, maintained by the view that language is the key instrument to either exclude participants from the learning-assessing-teaching procedure or to otherwise include them. Thus, this paper aims at showing that assessing students would be more inclusive if three main concepts were taken into account, i.e.: (1) that assessing is part and parcel of teaching-learning, (2) that negotiation is a key element to organize the higher mental functions (Vygotsky, 1934), (3) that language is a zone of conflict in which ideology is challenged and knowledge, reconstructed (Schneuwly, 1992).

Arbor : Ciencia, Pensamiento y Cultura , 2011, DOI: 10.3989/arbor.2011.extra-3n3128
Abstract: In this paper we offer a fast overview of the usage needs of search engines for knowledge management, as well as the basic ideas about how they work. We then present the CSORA method (Classify, Search, Organize, Relate and Adapt), a set of technical and methodological procedures that improve the efficacy of search engines, making it possible to find relevant information in environments with lots of information or specialized information. Last, we show the integration of the method into the search engines. The conclusions include a description of the advantages of using this method, verified by experiments carried out, and the lines of future work.
