Infantile hemangiomas are the most common benign vascular tumors in childhood that mostly emerge in preterm patients, affect head and neck in 80% of cases and cause serious life-threatening complications for some patients. The parotid hemangioma is a clinical form of presentation that may be seen in a prolonged proliferative period with slow regression. This is the clinical case of a patient diagnosed with parotid hemangioma of superficial and deep component. He was treated with propranolol, showed excellent response to treatment, and complete clinical and imaging regression of tumor in a 10-week period.

A retrospective study of the outpatient department of the "Juan Manuel Márquez" Pediatric Teaching Hospital, and paticularly of those children that received dermatological attention in 1994 was conducted. It was determined that 11.4 % (10 645) went to the hospital due to skin disorders. General data, such as age, sex and areas of origin, as well as the most diagnosed affections were processed. 30 % corresponded to the age group 0-1, and almost 60 % to those aged 5. The province of Havana City, and specially the municipalities of Marianao and La Lisa, had the highest number of patients. No significant differences were observed as regards sex. Scabies was the commonest disease in all groups, followed by dermatitis, pyodermatitis, common warts, molluscum contagiosum and Pityriasis alba.

Clinical Dermatology , 2012,
Abstract: Background: Scars and burns are ever increasing complaints among children that turn to dermatologists to find a solution for the permanent, anaesthetic marks that they usually leave. Aim of the study: Determine how effective Cicatrix cream (Catalysis laboratories Madrid, Spain) is to treat post-operative scars and second degree burns, and to provide patients with an alternative therapy that provides aesthetic benefits in a short period of time and has minimum adverse reactions. Material and methods: A Phase II, open-label, controlled clinical trial was organised, that included 100 patients of both genders, aged between 0 and 18 years old, who had been diagnosed as having postoperative scars and burns at the Dermatology Service at the Pediatric Hospital Juan Manuel Márquez. Scars and burns were evaluated (colour, size) several times during the clinical trial. The sample was stratified according to the type of lesion and the gender and age groups in the stratus were homogenous. The Cicatrix cream was applied on the lesion twice a day for eight weeks. Results: 57.1% of the burns completely disappeared after 8 weeks of the treatment and 46.7% of the scars got smaller by more than 50%. There was more than 50% improvement in colour for 95.2% of the burns and 72% of the scars. 98.7% of the patients with scars and 100% of the patients with burns responded well to the treatment. There were no adverse reactions. Conclusions: Cicatrix is an excellent therapeutic alternative to treat these problems.

Ingeniería e Investigación , 2010,
Abstract: a tobacco leaf humidifying system involving nebulisation was designned, implemented and evaluated; it had a system for monitoring and recording environmental conditions thereby producing an environment having more homogeneous relative humidity, ensuring better water use, better control of relative humidity and better control in managing cured tobacco leaf moisture content, thereby leading to a consequent improvement in final product quality. 55% to 75% relative humidity and 4 to 6 hour working ranges were obtained to ensure leaf humidification reached 16% humidity on a wet basis. two new designs are proposed for the conditioning stage regarding this conditioning chamber?s operational management, based on the results and field observations, which would allow better leaf management, thereby avoiding the risk of losses due to manipulation and over-humidification. this work strengthens research in the field of tobacco postharvest technology, complementing other research projects which have been carried out in colombia.
Ictiosis congenita: Presentación clínico-patológica de 4 casos
Cárdenas Bruno,Mercedes; Torres Gómez de Cadiz,Alma; Pastrana,Fernanda; Lantigua,Aracely;
Revista Cubana de Pediatr?-a , 1996,
Abstract: the clinical and histological characteristics as well as the genetic study of 4 cases of ichthyosis are presented. they were clinically classified as follows: laminar ichthyosis, 2 cases with recesive autosomal inheritance pattern; hystrix ichthyosis, 1 case with dominant autosomal inheritance pattern; ichthyosis linked to x, 1 case with recesive inheritance pattern. the microscopic study showed hyperkeratosis in one of the cases of laminar ichthyosis, with reduction of the granulose layer in some zones and abcense of this in others. in the other case, the lesion has a psoriasiform aspect with hyperkeratosis, parakeratosis, and munro's microabscesses. in hystrix ichthyosis it was observed an epidermolytic hyperkeratosis; whereas in the ichthyosis linked to x it was found a hyperkeratosis with normal granulose layer.

The clinical and histological characteristics as well as the genetic study of 4 cases of ichthyosis are presented.
