LITERATURA E(M) ENSINO DE LíNGUA ESTRANGEIRA
Fernanda Mota
Fólio : Revista de Letras , 2010,
Abstract: This article conveys reflections about the use of literary texts in foreign language teaching either in language courses, or at schools and even at universities. An implicit object in these reflections is to articulate two areas of knowledge: Linguistics and Literary Studies, showing how profitable a dialogue between them can be in order to have a more meaningful learning and teaching of a foreign language, especially English, which was emphasized in this article.

Wiethan, Fernanda Marafiga;Mota, Helena Bolli;
Revista CEFAC , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-18462011005000003
Abstract: background: focus on studies conducted over the last ten years on therapy for phonological disorders. purpose: to analyze the national and international studies on phonology, conducted from the year 2000, in order to check their contributions for the clinical treatments, while identifying new opportunities in research. conclusion: all analyzed studies bring out contributions that can be adopted as tools for the speech clinic. the therapist should pay attention to the fact that different children respond differently to the different approaches, so that therefore, caution should be taken clinician in treatment planning. the report suggests research possibilities and aspects that could be more widely used in the scientific work. however, no studies were found indicating the average number of sessions required in order to determine the discharge in speech pathology cases, and global approaches, that could solve all the issues that may be delayed in these children, such as auditory processing, working memory, phonemic discrimination, phonological awareness and written language development.

Wiethan, Fernanda Marafiga;Mota, Helena Bolli;
Revista CEFAC , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-18462011005000111
Abstract: background: routes of phonological acquisition in children treated with favorable environments in contrast with unfavorable and neutral environments for production of /z/, /∫/and /?/in phonological therapy. procedures: six children with phonological disorder aged between 4:7 and 7:8 were selected to take part in the study. they were properly authorized by their parents. there were speech-language and complementary evaluations in order to diagnose the phonological disorder. the subjects were matched according to the severity of the phonological disorder, gender, age and aspects of the phonological system in relation to the altered phonemes. half of the children were treated with words in which the phonemes /z/, /∫/and /?/ were in favorable environments and the other half with unfavorable and neutral environments. there were eight sessions and, after that, new evaluations were made in order to describe and qualitatively compare the routes of phonological acquisition in the said subjects through the implicational model of features complexity. results: the results indicated a small advantage in the therapeutic evolution of two subjects treated with favorable environments, in relation to their matches. however, children treated with unfavorable and neutral environments obtained more positive results than their matches. conclusion: the favorable environments for production of fricatives /z/, /∫/and /?/ did not determine the therapeutic success, but positively influenced the phonological evolution in the subjects in the study.

Abstract:

There is pressure from consumers about exchanging synthetic for natural dyes in foods. This review aimed to expose the potential of blueberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) as a source of natural dye, associated with its properties of functional food. Blueberry is a fruit plant natural from temperate climate, rich in phenolic compounds. The properties of phenolic compounds can be attributed to its ability to capture free radicals, deactivating or eliminating them from the body. Anthocyanins are flavonoid phenolic compounds responsible for color of fruits, flowers and vegetables. Blueberry is rich in anthocyanins, being its content more affected by genotype than by climatic or environmental factors. Brazil has the potential to assume an important position in the worldwide market of this fruit, both in natura and as byproducts, whose main destinations are populations from regions with higher income and educational level, as the North America and Europe. Due to the importance of blueberry as a source of natural pigments, as well as its high value while associated with functional food, it is important to improve extraction and stabilization processes of anthocyanins from blueberry fruits. Researches should focus on the technical viability and cost reduction in the extraction of this pigment. Pioneer studies with blueberry have been conducted in Brazil, but the intensification of researches will allow yield maximization, increased levels of anthocyanins in fruits, and compound stability after extraction. Another focus should be the use of these natural pigments in order to replace those currently used.
