REDVET , 2005,
Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease occurring in natural foci, and could be controlled, taking into consideration: type of exploitation, protective measures and epidemiologic surveillance. The objective of this work is to determine the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of swine leptospirosis in disease active foci, and identify the serological varieties by means of isolation. Two experiments were developed, one related with the epidemiological characterization of swine leptospirosis foci, in which abortion occurred on 5 and 6% respectively; the second experiment was about the isolation and identification of Leptospira strains from the foci, general characterization of the piggeries: serological research related with the disease and its differential diagnosis, were activities within this experiment. Descriptions of isolation and circulation of the Tarassovi serovar, for the first time in Cuba, occurred without alterations of the productive and reproduction indexes.

Abstract: the present work was carried out in havana municipalities, with the objective of characterizing the situation of the leptospirosis in the human and animal population. the files were revised in the municipal and provincial addresses of the institute of municipal veterinary medicine and their diagnostic net, as well as the services of public health of identical level. were determined the reports of leptospirosis cases in the human and animal population from 1993 to 2006 in eight havana municipalities. it was calculated the percentage value, the relative frequency and the prevalencia of the illness per reports numbers of cases for the population (human and animal), years, species, areas (rural and urban) and the leptospira serovar involved. the biggest prevalencia in the illness presented it the animal population. the obtained results reveal their utility as a retrospective study that contributes to the knowledge of the indicators related with the analysis of necessary risks for the planning of reduction actions of only sanitary disasters.
Multi-armed Bandit Problem with Known Trend

Computer Science , 2015,
Abstract: We consider a variant of the multi-armed bandit model, which we call multi-armed bandit problem with known trend, where the gambler knows the shape of the reward function of each arm but not its distribution. This new problem is motivated by different online problems like active learning, music and interface recommendation applications, where when an arm is sampled by the model the received reward change according to a known trend. By adapting the standard multi-armed bandit algorithm UCB1 to take advantage of this setting, we propose the new algorithm named A-UCB that assumes a stochastic model. We provide upper bounds of the regret which compare favourably with the ones of UCB1. We also confirm that experimentally with different simulations
A Neural Networks Committee for the Contextual Bandit Problem
Robin Allesiardo,Raphael Feraud,Djallel Bouneffouf
Computer Science , 2014,
Abstract: This paper presents a new contextual bandit algorithm, NeuralBandit, which does not need hypothesis on stationarity of contexts and rewards. Several neural networks are trained to modelize the value of rewards knowing the context. Two variants, based on multi-experts approach, are proposed to choose online the parameters of multi-layer perceptrons. The proposed algorithms are successfully tested on a large dataset with and without stationarity of rewards.

African Research Review , 2011,
Abstract: The study aims at examining the meaning of Social Studies, nature and its role towards advancement of tradomedical education in South-South region of Nigeria. This study sought to address the importance of tradomedical education and some of the strategies used in achieving effective teaching of Social Studies to the citizen for advancement of tradomedical education in South-South region of Nigeria and it also examined the various methods used and services rendered through traditional health care system. It was also realized that the effective teaching of social studies will expose the citizens to the environment and its benefits (herbal cure) to the citizens.
Non linear regularization for helioseismic inversions. Application for the study of the solar tachocline
T. Corbard,L. Blanc-Feraud,G. Berthomieu,J. Provost
Physics , 1999,
Abstract: Inversions of rotational splittings have shown that there exists at the base of the solar convection zone a region called the tachocline in which high radial gradients of the rotation rate occur. The usual linear regularization methods tend to smooth out any high gradients in the solution, and may not be appropriate for the study of this zone. In this paper we use, in the helioseismic context of rotation inversions, regularization methods that have been developed for edge-preserving regularization in computed imaging. It is shown from Monte-Carlo simulations that this approach can lead directly to results similar to those reached by linear inversions which however required some assumptions on the shape of the transition in order to be deconvolved. The application of this method to LOWL data leads to a very thin tachocline. From the discussions on the parameters entering the inversion and the Monte-Carlo simulations, our conclusion is that the tachocline width is very likely below 0.05R_sun which lowers our previous estimate of 0.05+/- 0.03R_sun obtained from the same dataset (Corbard et al. 1998).
Vivienda, teoría y práctica. Treinta a?os de experiencia académica en La Habana

Arquitectura y Urbanismo , 2012,
Abstract: the university considered as a generating-knowledge center in the teaching process at undergraduate and postgraduate studies carries out extramural research. this paper assesses the evolution of the academic thinking about housing, based on theoretical and methodological approaches used at havana school of architecture during the last thirty years. the theoretical and empirical research results show that the university has always been involved in the solution of the housing problem; allow to assess the evolution of thinking in relation to the international trends, confirm the leading role of the university at all times, and demonstrate the slowness in the application of the new knowledge to the social practice.

Abstract: some functions of the abstract of a scientific research article were presented in this paper, together with the most frequent problems found. likewise, some historical data on the origin, concept, and types of abstract were provided as well as 15 practical recommendations for its writing. on the basis of these recommendations, a working outline divided into four moments is suggested, with a view to attaining step by step a good abstract, that is to say, a well-written abstract with a content that matches the article. an abstract having these conditions can help to create favourable primary opinions in directors, arbiters, editors and readers about the article, otherwise would cause an unfavorable opinion. it may be stated that the future of a research article depends largely on the quality of its abstract.

Abstract: 2010 will he the 100th birthday of the first working-class neighborhood planned and built in cuba. since 1959, cuban housing is known for its general and uniform standards influenced by early xxth century european mass social housing. in contrast to the rest of developing countries, housing is still a responsibility of the state. the present article offers an outlook of the evolution and trends of cuban social housing throughout the second part of the xxth century. lts beginning, in the 60s, was characterized by the search for appropriate technologies and new ways of expression for the mass social housing of a developing and revolutionary country. also, the government tried to "eradicate" the precarious housing condition and the differences between urban and rural areas. from the 70s, in order to meet massive demands, cuban housing centred its efforts on the high-tech prefabricated system. in the 80s, conservation of traditional urban centers was promoted and the crisis of the 90s forced cuba to definitely quit heavy industrialization and search for "alternative" solutions. the current debate on the topic closes the article.
