Role of Tat-Mediated PDZ Peptide Delivery in Pain Therapy  [PDF]

Abstract: Delivery of therapeutic peptides or proteins into tissues is severely limited by the size and biochemical properties of the molecules. Protein transduction domain (PTD)-mediated cargo transduction represents a novel and promising strategy to deliver biologically active peptides in vivo. The first PTD was identified from the HIV-1 transactivating transcriptional activator protein Tat in 1988. Since then, other PTDs have also been identified, including the third α-helix of the antennapedia homeotic transcription factor and synthetic peptide carriers. However, Tat PTD (amino acids 47 - 57) has shown markedly better ability for intracellular delivery than other PTDs. It has been demonstrated that fusion peptides containing the Tat PTD enter the central nervous system after systemic administration. Our previous study has shown that i.p. injected Tat-PSD-95 PDZ2 expresses in the central nervous system and significantly disrupts PDZ domain-mediated protein interactions between PSD-95 and N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor subunit NR2A/2B, thereby alleviating chronic pain. Therefore, Tat-mediated intracellular delivery can be used for systemic administration of analgesics in pain management.

A Long-Term Study of Efficacy of Patients with Macular Edema Secondary to BRVO Treated with Ranibizumab Combined with Compound Salvia  [PDF]

Abstract: Purpose: To study the long-term efficacy of intravitreal ranibizumab injection combined with in-travenous compound salvia injection drip in the treatment of patients with macular edema sec-ondary to branch retinal vein occlusion(BRVO). Methods: Sixty-five patients of branch retinal vein occlusion with macular edema were analyzed retrospectively. Thirty-seven patients in the treat-ment group were treated with ranibizumab injection combined with intravenous compound salvia injection drip, twenty-eight patients in the control group were treated with ranibizumab injection only. All patients were recorded and analyzed changes of clinical efficacy after 3 months, 6 months after a course of treatment of 6 months. Results: During 3 months after 6 months’ treatment, there were 5 patients having recurrence in the treatment group, while there were 9 in control group, the rate of recurrence between the two groups had significant difference (P < 0.05); during 3 - 6 months after a course of treatment, there were 2 patients having recurrence in the treatment group, while there were 4 in control group, the rate of recurrence between the two groups had significant difference (P < 0.05); however, the treatment group’s BCVA was better than control group, and the difference between the two groups had significance (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Ranibizumab injection combined with intravenous compound salvia injection drip could effectively reduce the impossibility of recurrence, improve the visual activity and bring better therapeutic efficacy in patients with macular edema secondary to branch retinal vein occlusion. The treatment showed great potential in the clinical use.

Abstract: We mainly investigated the effect of metallic wire grid on its optical property. At first, we give one simple model to deduce an expression which can describe the relationship of the optical property with the width of metallic wire grid. This expression could be used to calculate the reflectance of the metallic wire grid. We also give the corresponding computer simulation. Our simulation shows that the reflectance would increase when the width of metallic wire grid increase. The wider the metallic wire grid is, the higher the reflectance is. The reflectance would reach the maximum value only when the width is over the free path of electronic.

Abstract: The nonstandard picture of a turbulent field is presented in this article. By the concepts of nonstandard mathematics, the picture describes the hierarchical structure of turbulence and shows the mechanism of the fluctuation appearing in a turbulent field. The uncertainty of measurement is pointed out. And the fundamental equations of turbulence are given too. It is natural in this picture that the reasonable closure methods can be obtained and seem to be precise.

Abstract: Some important concepts in the nonstandard analysis theory of turbulence are presented in this article. The structure of point, on which differential equations are defined, is analyzed. The distinction between the uniform point and the non-uniform point, as well as between the standard point and the nonstandard point, is showed. A new kind of equations, which differ essentially from those in existent theory, is emphasized. These new equations can hold at non-uniform points. The applicability of the Navier-Stokes equations to turbulence is discussed. Some illustrations of the nonstandard analysis theory of turbulence are given too.
Physical foundation of the mathematical concepts in the nonstandard analysis theory of turbulence

Abstract: The physical foundation of the main mathematical concepts in the nonstandard analysis theory of turbulence are presented and discussed. The basic fact is that there does not exist the absolute zero fluid-volume. Therefore, the corresponding physical object to the absolute point is just the uniform fluid-particle. The fluid-particle, in general, corresponds to the monad. The uniform fluid-particle corresponds to the uniform monad, the nonuniform fluid-particle to the nonuniform monad. There are two kinds of the differentiations, one based on the absolute point, another based on the monad. The former is adopted in the Navier-Stokes equations, the latter in the fundamental equations, the closed forms are the equations (7)-(11) in this article, in the nonstandard analysis theory of turbulence. The continuity of fluid is shown by virtue of the concepts of the fluid-particle and fluid-particle in lower level. The character of the continuity in two cases, the standard and nonstandard analysis, is presented in the paper. And the difference in the discretization between the Navier-Stokes equations and the equations (7)-(11) is pointed out too.

Abstract: By the nonstandard analysis theory of turbulence, the governing equations of compressible turbulence are given. The equations can hold at non-uniform points, in fact, are new kind of equations. There are three choices. In the choice one, the second-order infinitesimal quantities are neglected, the closed equations about the point(monad)-average quantities are obtained. In other two choices, the closed equations, in which the third-order infinitesimal quantities are omitted, are given and about the instantaneous, point-averaged and fluctuant quantities.

Abstract: Public service outsourcing is a modern public service supply pattern, which the government takes advantage of the market and society to product and supply public services. Because of the characters of innovation, fashion and practicability, public service outsourcing has shown its multiple values and has been popular with the local government. The government mainly plays the role in rule-maker, public service-buyer and order-supervisor. However, in the process of role transition, our government faces ideological, institutional and ability obstacles, either. Therefore, with the purpose of reducing government outsourcing obstacles and improving the level of government management and service, this paper tries to establish a relatively complete system of public service outsourcing and offers several suggestions including perfecting the institutional construction, establishing diversified safeguard mechanisms and strengthening the construction of the government to build a service-oriented government.
Maximum Principle for Stochastic Recursive Optimal Control Problems Involving Impulse Controls

Abstract: We consider a stochastic recursive optimal control problem in which the control variable has two components: the regular control and the impulse control. The control variable does not enter the diffusion coefficient, and the domain of the regular controls is not necessarily convex. We establish necessary optimality conditions, of the Pontryagin maximum principle type, for this stochastic optimal control problem. Sufficient optimality conditions are also given. The optimal control is obtained for an example of linear quadratic optimization problem to illustrate the applications of the theoretical results.
