An Empirical Study on the Non-Linear Relationship between the Performance of Funds and the Cash Flows of Funds  [PDF]

Abstract: This article takes 152 open-ended stock funds and partial stock funds established before the second quarter of 2015 as samples. Using the regression model of the non-balanced panel data fixed-effect model, this paper discussed the specific impact of the historical performance and other influencing factors on the purchase and redemption of investors from the first quarter of 2013 to the second quarter of 2017. And the nonlinear relationship between fund performance and capital flow is investigated by piecewise linear regression. The empirical results reveal that the funds lagging quarterly performance has a positive impact on the funds flow in the next quarter. Investors generally chase performance rather than “reverse selection”, and find that the relationship between historical performance and capital flow is non-linear. The fund flow has different sensitivity to outstanding performance fund, medium performance fund and poor performance fund. Fund flow is most sensitive to outstanding performance funds, followed by the medium performance fund, and insensitive to the poor performance funds. Finally, this paper uses the theory of principal-agent to analyze the results, and puts forward suggestions to improve the performance incentive mechanism of Chinas fund market.

Abstract:
A multi optical parametric imaging system is introduced and established in order to improve the contrast of object in the fog. A few targets are observed in the fog weather based on the system level radiation model of multi optical parametric imaging and the calibrated model parameters. The results show that the building’s windows can be distinguished clear in the linear polariza-tion, circular polarization and angle of polarization images because of the strong reflected polarization light of the glass; The vehicles in intersection can hardly be seen in the intensity image, and it is fuzzy in degree of linear polarization and angle of polarization image because of the doped polarization information of trees near in fog; The circular polarization image raises the contrast of the vehicles by 20% because the circle polarization of the trees is less in the fog.

Abstract: There is a kind of Chinese VR (verb-resultative) constructions in which the meanings of verb and complement (stands as the “result”) are relatively independent and decomposable. We call it “phrasal VR construction”. Syntactic structures of this kind are various. The semantic orientations of complements are complicated. And there are some grammatical phenomena that have not been explained yet. After choosing four typical Chinese VR structures (“哭累” (cry-tired, being tired from crying), “哭湿” (cry-wet, being wet from crying), “洗累” (wash-tired, being tired from washing), and “推倒” (push over)), this article first described them in accordance with Levin & Rappaport’s event structure theory, and summarized the principles of the three participants’ prominence and recession. Then the article, by analyzing the projection process from the event structure to the syntactic structure, found the correspondence between the participants and the syntactic elements. Finally it gave interpretations to the unexplained grammatical phenomena.

Abstract: The syntactic priming is not only a very important repetitive priming phenomenon, it is also important for studying the syntactic representation and the speech production mechanism. Since the priming is related to the selecting process of the target sentences, it is of serious requirement for both the experimental materials and paradigms. The main questions studied in the syntactic priming correlates with the construction, the syntactic hierarchy and the representation of verbs, etc. Mastering the syntactic priming’s experimental paradigm and knowing the corresponding research questions would be of great significance to studying the syntactic representation and the syntactic teaching in the field of teaching Chinese as a second language.

Abstract: Dr. Feng Chen is a chief medical doctor and the vice chairman of the Department of Radiology in Zhong Da Hospital at Southeast University, Nanjing, China and a senior researcher in the Department of Radiology at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. His main areas of interest are translational imaging research including stroke, tumor angiogenesis, assessment of therapeutic response in solid tumors, and magnetic resonance contrast media. Dr. Feng Chen has published 44 scientific papers in peer-reviewed international journals. He and his colleagues have developed an imaging platform which includes animal models, animal preparations and multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) protocols for translational animal imaging research using clinical machines. His MRI findings on rodent stroke are considered to “serve as a model for future laboratory investigations of treatment of acute stroke and unify the approaches developed for clinical studies”. He and his colleagues have introduced a novel liver tumor model in rodents, in which a series of studies concerning the antitumor activity of vascular disrupting agents have been successively conducted and assessed by in vivo MRI, especially by diffusion weighted imaging as an imaging biomarker. His goal is to provide valuable references for clinical practice and to contribute to the translation of animal imaging research into patient applications.

Abstract: Let T be a complete discrete valuation ring and $\hat{X}$ a smooth projective curve over $S=\spec(T)$ with closed fibre $X$. Denote by $F$ the function field of $\hat{X}$ and by $\hat{F}$ the completion of $F$ with respect to the discrete valuation defined by $X$, the closed fibre. In this paper, we construct indecomposable and noncrossed product division algebras over $F$. This is done by defining an index preserving group homomorphism $s:\br(\hat{F})'\to\br(F)'$, and using it to lift indecomposable and noncrossed product division algebras over $\hat{F}$.

Abstract: As a set of supervised pattern recognition methods, support vector machines (SVMs) have been successfully applied to functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) field, but few studies have focused on visualizing discriminative regions of whole brain between different cognitive tasks dynamically. This paper presents a SVM-based method for visualizing dynamically discriminative activation of whole-brain voxels between two kinds of tasks without any contrast. Our method provides a series of dynamic spatial discrimination maps (DSDMs), representing the temporal evolution of discriminative brain activation during a duty cycle and describing how the discriminating information changes over the duty cycle. The proposed method was applied to investigate discriminative brain functional activations of whole brain voxels dynamically based on a hand-motor task experiment. A set of DSDMs between left hand movement and right hand movement were reached. Our results demonstrated not only where but also when the discriminative activations of whole brain voxels occurred between left hand movement and right hand movement during one duty cycle.

Abstract: Apoptosis proteins have a central role in the development and homeostasis of an organism. These proteins are very important for the understanding the mechanism of programmed cell death, and their function is related to their types. The apoptosis proteins are categorized into the following four types: (1) Cytoplasmic protein; (2) Plasma membrane-bound protein; (3) Mitochondrial inner and outer proteins; (4) Other proteins. A novel method, the Hilbert-Huang transform, is applied for predicting the type of a given apoptosis protein with support vector machine. High success rates were obtained by the re-substitute test (98/98=100%), jackknife test (91/98 = 92.9%).

Abstract:

The propagation characteristics of radio wave have been an important topic in wireless communications. Based on the ray tracing method, the propagation of radio wave for indoor NLOS environment is simulated and analyzed. In this paper, the received power is obtained by simulation, and we will analyze the impact of various factors on the received power. Later, the study can be used to simplify indoor radio wave propagation model and provide a theoretical basis, which is in favor of indoor wireless communication network planning and optimization and can lay the foundation of the development of future technology.
