In Morelos, root rot caused by Fusarium spp., is one of the main diseases of indoor poinsettia. In order to prevent or control its devastating effect, frequent applications of chemical products are performed, with inherent risks to human health and environment. In quest for alternative biorational options, an essay in which three commercial strains of Trichoderma spp., was done, in three different substrates: S1= "organic soil" (70% v/v)+thick tezontle (15% v/v)+thin tezontle (10% v/v)+agrolita (5% v/v); S2= peat moss (80% v/v)+ coconut fiber (20% v/v); S3= "organic soil" (70%)+"tepojal" (30%), in most common commercial varieties, Freedom Red and Prestige Red. A factorial design of 4 x 3 x 2 treatment was used and resulting treatments were evaluated in a completely random design with six repetitions. Regards root rot incidence, commercial strains of Trichoderma spp., did not show differences between them, either with chemical control. Root rot was associated with S2, due low aeration capacity, and only it was seen in Prestige Red. Population of Trichoderma spp.,

Abstract: Micropropagation has been widely used for the rapid multiplication of many plant species, where the final quality of the plant depends on the acclimatization stage. To obtain compact plants, with desired characteristics and adaptable to field conditions, the use of chemical inhibitors of growth is necessary. In sugarcane of the variety CP 72-2086 the effects caused by the growth regulator paclobutrazol (PBZ) in vitro plants applied in the acclimatization phase are unknown. The objective of this research was to know the effect of paclobutrazol in the acclimatization phase in the growth and development of the vitro plants of sugarcane of the variety CP 72-2086. The research was carried out in the greenhouse of the Faculty of Agronomy of the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, located at 24°37'29\"N and 107°26'36\"W, in Sinaloa, Mexico. Micro-propagated sugarcane seedlings were used by tissue culture; vitro plants were extracted from the flasks 24 hours before being transplanted into the greenhouse. The treatments of PBZ applied were the doses of 0 (control), 100, 150, 200, 250 and 300 mg·L-1. The PBZ was applied when the seedlings had seven true leaves [(31 days after transplant (ddt)], and did not show gutting. At 36 ddt, the vitro plants of the trays were extracted and the variables evaluated were height (cm), stem diameter (mm), root length (cm), root volume (mL), root dry weight (g), aerial biomass dry weight (g), leaf area (cm2) and greenness in spad units. A randomized complete block design with three replicates was used. The results of the study indicated that the dose of 150 g·L-1 of PBZ induced the growth of plants more compact and of better quality for the transplant.
Amenorrea secundaria-mosaicismo 45,X/46,XX fertilidad y reinicio de funcion menstrual

Abstract: objective: to present a 17-year-old patient with 10-months-secondary amenorrhea, and a 45,x /46,xx mosaicism, who subsequently normalized her menstrual cycles and had spontaneous pregnancy. methods: data from the clinical history; endocrinological studies, laparoscopy and ovarian biopsy, and cytogenetic analysis are presented. results: this patient presented spontaneous pubertal changes at the age of 11 years, and her menarche at 13 years of age, with regular menses every 28 days, and then she developed secondary amenorrhea of 10 months duration at 17 years of age. on physical examination she presented a height of 1,48 m., and her weight was 40 kg. her secondary sexual characters were normal and no particular somatic malformation were present. vaginal cytology smear showed predominance of intermediate cells. laboratory tests showed low serum estradiol levels, high fsh and lh serum concentration. prolactin, free thyroxine, tsh and cortisol serum concentration were within normal range. lh and fsh values gave an exagerated response to gnrh stimulus. cytogenetic study showed a 45,x/46,xx mosaicism. progestational test was negative. for 34 months she presented regular menses while on combined estrogen + progesterone therapy. thereafter she resumed spontaneous regular menses, until she became pregnant at the age of 22 years. at 38 weeks of pregnancy, caesarean section was performed and a normal male baby was obtained. regular menses were resumed four months after delivery, and continued normaly until her present 29 years of age. conclusions: the present case shows the wide clinical spectrum of the 45,x/46,xx mosaicism, in a patient with different levels of ovarian function, starting with a normal menarche, followed by ovarian failure and hypergonadotropic amenorrhea, and subsequent restoration of regular menstrual cycles, and fertility.
