Abstract: this paper provides a panoramic description of the ways in which the so-called critical language awareness (cla), can contribute to the teaching and learning of english as a global language, which increasingly involves a wide range of visual, verbal, and digitally-delivered media and modes of communication. the overview presented begins with the concept of language awareness, and goes into more depth with respect to that of critical language awareness, establishing a parallel with paulo freire′s conception based on the notions of social justice, identity, power and inequality. finally, the history of the teaching of foreign languages in chile is presented, and a broader sense of the concept of discourse is outlined, that of multimedia discourse

Abstract: the objective of this paper is to focus the role accorded to tradition as a component of a social-historical dynamics schemed among different groups in salvador, but whose effect defined a way of modernization connected with the crossing of group identities, immaterial and architectural patrimonies, the transit of images and the informational capitalism. such way of modernization defined a touristic experience marked by the uses, by the city and in the city, that are made of space, of memory and of cultural expressions, resources that are decisive and, at the same time, they revolve a land of social-symbolic contradictions that feed the symbolic economy.

Abstract: the purpose of this article is to highlight some aspects that now characterize the convergence of the culture and the economy of symbols and spaces from the setting of a circuit of large festivals crossing different brazilian regions. it is observed how the pattern of this circuit of events creates a broader portrait of the establishment of the service and urban-industrial social structure, within which leisure and entertainment interfere with the level of values and expressions, with effects on the resignification of the realms of memory. on the other hand, it is also considered how those symbolic changes are fundamental to the very dynamics of the business of entertainment goods, in the sense that they articulate affection, endearment and life styles with the schemes of capital rentability.

Finally, the history of the teaching of foreign languages in Chile is presented, and a broader sense of the concept of discourse is outlined, that of multimedia discourse Este trabajo ofrece una descripción panorámica de las formas en que la Conciencia Crítica de la Lengua puede contribuir en la ense anza y aprendizaje del Inglés como lengua global, lo cual incluye un conjunto de medios digitales y modalidades de comunicación visuales y verbales. La panorámica ofrecida comienza con el concepto de Conciencia de la Lengua, se detiene en mayor profundidad en el de Conciencia Crítica de la Lengua y establece un paralelo con el impacto de Paulo Freire y su concepción basada en las nociones de justicia social, identidad, poder e inequidad. Finalmente, se presenta el desarrollo histórico en contexto de la ense anza de lenguas extranjeras en Chile y se detalla el sentido más amplio en que el discurso está siendo definido, aquel de "discurso multimedia"

Abstract: Ao escrever Mozart: a sociologia de um gênio e A Peregrina o de Watteau à Ilha do Amor, Norbert Elias deixou importante legado ao tratamento sociológico da forma o das subjetividades artísticas e das express es estético-culturais, a partir do problema em torno da rela o entre transforma o e conserva o sócio-históricas, mas do ponto de vista das possibilidades e limites na conduta de indivíduos. Desse modo, neste artigo, a proposta de focar a trajetória de Jo osinho Trinta, no ambito da cultura urbana do Carnaval do Rio de Janeiro, situa-se na contrapartida da aplica o do modelo figuracional e, assim, voltarmos à discuss o sobre a funcionalidade arte-cultura enquanto espa o estratégico à catalisa o de valores e à produ o e difus o de significados. Isso, em busca das duas seguintes quest es: Que dinamica sócio-histórica é caracterizada pela ascendência do gosto popular na valora o do fazer e dos bens artístico-culturais? E, no reverso da medalha, em que medida esse mesmo processo se traduz na rela o entre personalidade artística e negócios mundanos, encarnada na figura histórica do carnavalesco? When writing Mozart: The Sociology of a Genius and Watteau's Pilgrimage to the Island of Love, Norbert Elias left an important legacy to the sociological treatment of the formation of artistic subjectivities and aesthetic and cultural expressions, coming from the problems surrounding the relationship between processing and preserving the socio-historical aspect from the standpoint of the possibilities and limitations in the conduct of individuals. Thus, in this article, the propose of focusing on the trajectory of Jo osinho Trinta within the urban culture of Carnival in Rio de Janeiro is the counterpart of the application of the figurational model and thus to return to the discussion on the feature art-culture as a strategic area of catalysis of values and for the production and dissemination of meanings. This, in search of the following two questions: Are that socio-historical dynamics characterized by the advance of popular taste in the valuation of the doings and artistic and cultural assets? And, on the other side, in which extent is that process reflected in the relationship between artistic personality and worldly affairs, embodied in the historical figure of the "carnavalesco"?
