Aspectos bioéticos en los tratamientos con células madre

Abstract: the bioethics became a necessary field in the science development from the three past decades of xx century. concerning to researches with stem cells, have raised many debates from appeared the first studies with embryonic stem cells until present time where researches with above mentioned cells are developing to avoid the moral implications of human embryos use. the legislations are adapting to the new technologies and the researchers have to be updated on the guidelines and laws of daily appearance. a review on bioethics in researches with stem cells is performed. above researches have had confrontations with other disciplines and the use of mesenchymal stem cells came to solve the dilemmas regarding the embryos use. at moment to obtain the informed consent the patient must to know about the adverse effects of treatment.
Estudio clínico, genético y molecular en un paciente con atrofia muscular espinal

Abstract: the infantile spinal muscular atrophies (sma) are hereditary neuromuscular diseases characterized by degenerated alfa-motoneurons of the anterior spinal marrow horn. werdning-hoffman disease, type 1 sma, is the most serious affection being transmitted as an autosomal recessive character, so those affected may die from respiratory failures in the first year of life. this paper presents a cuban family with two kids who suffer from type-1 sma; the molecular analysis carried out in one of them identified two parental chromosomes responsible for the disease. also, a deletion of both copies of smn gene (exon 8) and naip gene (exon 5) were discovered in this patient. these findings showed the usefulness of this kind of studies with a view to making a prenatal diagnosis of werdning-hoffman disease.

Abstract: La Bioética ha devenido un campo indispensable dentro del desarrollo de la ciencia, desde las tres últimas décadas del siglo XX. En lo referente a las investigaciones con células madre, se han promovido múltiples debates desde que surgieron los primeros estudios con las células madre embrionarias hasta la actualidad, en que se están desarrollando investigaciones con células madre adultas con el propósito de evitar las implicaciones morales del empleo de embriones humanos. Las legislaciones se están adaptando a las nuevas tecnologías y los investigadores tienen que estar actualizados en las normas y leyes que continuamente surgen. Se realiza una revisión de sobre Bioética en las investigaciones con células madre. Ellas han tenido enfrentamientos con otras disciplinas y la utilización de células madre mesenquimales ha venido a solucionar los dilemas en cuanto al uso de embriones. Al obtener el consentimiento informado el paciente debe tener conocimiento acerca de los efectos adversos del tratamiento. Abstract: Las atrofias musculares espinales (AME) infantiles son enfermedades neuromusculares hereditarias caracterizadas por la degeneración de las motoneuronas alfa del asta anterior de la médula espinal. La enfermedad de Werdnig-Hoffmann, AME tipo I, es la forma más grave, se transmite como un carácter autosómico recesivo y los afectados suelen fallecer durante el primer a o de vida por fallo respiratorio. En este trabajo se presenta una familia cubana con 2 hijos con AME tipo I, en la cual el estudio molecular en uno de ellos permitió identificar los 2 cromosomas parentales asociados con ésta. Se encontró además en el paciente una deleción de ambas copias del gen SMN (exón 8) y del gen NAIP (exón 5). Los hallazgos ilustran la utilidad de estos estudios, con vistas a posibilitar el diagnóstico prenatal de la enfermedad. Evaluación neurofisiológica de la mielopatía espondilótica cervical

Abstract: introduction. spondylotic myelopathy is a common disease representing the fourth part of non-traumatic paraparesis and tetraparesis. its diagnosis is supported by clinical, radiological and neurophysiological data. the aim of present research was to demonstrate and to describe the alterations of electrophysiological parameters assessed by different studies, as well as to correlationate the neurophysiological studies according the intensity of radiolgical affection. methods. thirty patients of both sexes were assessed by clinical and imaging diagnosis of cervical spondylotic myelopathy. all of them underwent electromyography, nervous conduction study, f wave, somatosensory and motor evoked potentials. techniques of descriptive statistics were applied to neurophysiological variables correlating them with the medullary compression degree according to resonance. results. in most of the cases the evoked potentials were altered. the electromyography demonstrated altered results in all the cases: in the 72,7% there was a diffuse neurogenic pattern, whereas remained showed a radicular irritation pattern. in the 52,1% of cases there were moderate to severe alterations in the study of medium nerve conduction. a significant statistical correlation was present between the abnormality of electrophysiological parameters and the medullary compression intensity observed in resonance images. conclusions. the evoked potentials are very useful for the neurophysiological assessment in spondylotic myelopathy where is present a strong association among the alterations of electrophysiological parameters and the resonance images.

Abstract: a metabolic disease knwon as mucolipidosis ii which affects a six-monts old girl is described in this work. facies tosca, marked gingival hyperplasia, short neck, thorax deformity, thick and firm skin, and marked psychomotor retardation were detected when the girl was physically checked. the early onset of the disease, the oligosacharide excretion in urine and the typical behaviour of raised serum lysosomal enzimes levels made this diagnosis possible.

Abstract: Se describe en una ni a de 6 meses de edad, una enfermedad metabólica del tipo mucolipidosis II. Al examen físico se constató facies tosca, marcada hiperplasia gingival, cuello corto, deformidad torácica, piel gruesa y firme y retardo marcado del desarrollo psicomotor. El inicio temprano de la enfermedad, la excresión de oligosacáridos en la orina y el típico comportamiento de las enzimas lisosomales elevadas en sueron permitieron llegar a este diagnóstico. Abstract: Modeling and simulation of photovoltaic (PV) systems represents an essential task for the integration of PV panels in current power applications. At the present time, there are sizing tools of photovoltaic systems available on the market, taking into account the proposed energy consumption, site localization and system cost. An advanced specialized program (PVSyst) was considered. The sizing and simulations of two PV important applications were developed using PV modules based on three different technologies: monocrystalline and polycrystalline silicon, as well as CIS. Our results showed how different types of solar cell technologies influenced the final power output and performances for a PV LED lighting, as well as for a PV water pumping system, in terms of overall yield, efficiency and system availability.

Abstract: as an efl student teachers' advisor, i had constantly perceived that they regarded using the target language with their pupils inside their classroom as a challenge. that is why i became interested in investigating how thirteen student teachers in tunja public schools faced this issue. while participants were involved in a reflective teaching preparation model, i used field notes, interviews and their portfolios to explore their attitudes and strategies. findings revealed that their history as learners, their teaching context and preparation influenced their decisions. moreover, it was possible to identify the strategies they implemented to interact in english with their students.
