The Challenge of Implementing Information Security Standards in Small and Medium e-Business Enterprises  [PDF]
Ja’far Alqatawna
Journal of Software Engineering and Applications (JSEA) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jsea.2014.710079
Abstract: The dynamic nature of online systems requires companies to be proactive with thwarting information security threats, and to follow a systematic way for managing and evaluating the security of their online services. The existence of security standards is an important factor that helps organisations to evaluate and manage security by providing guidelines and best practices that enable them to follow a standard and systematic way to protect their e-Business activities. However, the suitability of available information security standards for Small and Medium e-Business Enterprises (e-SME) is worth further investigation. In this paper three major security standards including Common Criteria, System Security Engineering-Capability and Maturity Model and ISO/IEC 27001 were analysed. Accordingly, several challenges associated with these standards that may render them difficult to be implemented in e-SME have been identified.

LA EPISTEMOLOGíA DE LAS CIENCIAS SOCIALES EN LA FORMACIóN POR COMPETENCIAS DEL PREGRADO
Farías,Fernando;
Cinta de moebio , 2009, DOI: 10.4067/S0717-554X2009000100004
Abstract: the article discusses the role of epistemology in the training and professional skills of social scientists in the new context of higher education, which appears to force the idea of a competency-based training, through which its required an articulation of the cognitive, procedural and attitudinal elements. the need for epistemological training is to be understood as a process beyond itself, as a unit of learning that generates ways of thinking, such as analytical thinking, synthetical, critical, among others, as well as procedures used for the practice, and finally, in the area of attitudinal competencies, it is possible to recognize an epistemology of pluralism and tolerance characteristic of contemporary societies.
El Trabajo Social y los Campos Disciplinarios de las Ciencias Sociales en Chile

Abstract: the paper aims to review critically the concept of discipline and observe from it the classifications have been proposed to organize the subfields belonging to social sciences in chile. reflection begins by reviewing the concept of discipline, from its different meanings it has had to its current use in the academic world as a field or area of knowledge. under the latter sense can be seen that there are two disputing senses, one with emphasis on epistemic order, and other on factors of socio-historical nature. it analyses the different taxonomic proposals used to group and classify sub disciplines is social sciences by governmental institutions, as well as the faculties of social sciences. finally a review is made to studies on the development and establishment of social sciences in chile, while excluding social work discipline.
Far, Ken
Linguistik Online , 2006,
Abstract: Three key concepts in the research of idioms are discussed: iconography, iconicity, and iconicism. These concepts all have a role to play in phraseology (and beyond), although in quite different ways: Iconography is the mental picture that may be created on the basis of the literal reading of an idiom; it is thus a genuine semiotic concept and not a matter of free associations. However, its functional relevance in discourse should always be questioned. Iconicity in phraseology is the phenomenon that many idioms seem to reflect their semantic content through their form. Although this seems intuitively correct, idiom iconicity is quite relative and always overruled by the arbitrariness of the idiom sign - an arbitrariness which is not relative, but in fact fundamental. Iconicity is therefore often an obstacle to more thorough empirical investigations and cross-linguistic contexts. Iconicism is the tendency found in research and applied contexts that more attention is paid to iconography than to the idioms' rules of use. Iconicism is among other things responsible for textual non-equivalence and non-native style in translations, and it is a "natural", but nevertheless problematic consequence of the iconography and iconicity of idioms.
Urban assemblages: ANT and the examination of the city Ensamblajes urbanos: la TAR y el examen de la ciudad
Ignacio Farías
Athenea Digital , 2011,
Abstract: This article presents new research perspectives and analytical challenges that actor-network theory opens for urban studies. First, it reviews how the ANT principles of hybrid relationality and flat associativity are being adopted in urban studies to symmetrically expand the urban ecology to nonhumans and contest scalar conceptions of urban space and economy. Second, it proposes that ANT brings along an even more fundamental challenge related to the understanding of the city as a research object. While common understandings as a spatial object, political-economical entity and/or sociocultural form underlie its singular, stable and bounded character, ANT allows thinking the city as a multiple and decentered object. The notion of urban assemblages is introduced to account for the circulation and becoming of the city in multiple hybrid and translocal networks. Finally, it concludes by discussing some consequences of this examination of the city, especially the reassertion of the problem of complexity, especially urban complexity, if not as a starting point, then at least as a point of arrival for ANT.

Abstract: Parkinson’s disease (PD) is the most common disease of motor system degeneration that occurs when the dopamine-producing cells are damaged in substantia nigra. To detect PD, various signals have been investigated, including EEG, gait and speech. Since approximately 90 percent of the people with PD suffer from speech disorders, speech analysis is considered as the most common technique for this aim. This paper proposes a new algorithm for diagnosing of Parkinson’s disease based on voice analysis. In the first step, genetic algorithm (GA) is undertaken for selecting optimized features from all extracted features. Afterwards a network based on support vector machine (SVM) is used for classification between healthy and people with Parkinson. The dataset of this research is composed of a range of biomedical voice signals from 31 people, 23 with Parkinson’s disease and 8 healthy people. The subjects were asked to pronounce letter “A” for 3 seconds. 22 linear and non-linear features were extracted from the signals that 14 features were based on F0 (fundamental frequency or pitch), jitter, shimmer and noise to harmonics ratio, which are main factors in voice signal. Because changing in these factors is noticeable for the people with PD, optimized features were selected among them. Of the various numbers of optimized features, the data classification was investigated. Results show that the classification accuracy percent of 94.50 per 4 optimized features, the accuracy percent of 93.66 per 7 optimized features and the accuracy percent of 94.22 per 9 optimized features, could be achieved. It can be observed that the best classification accuracy may be achieved using Fhi (Hz), Fho (Hz), jitter (RAP) and shimmer (APQ5).
