Future Research on Cyber-Physical Emergency Management Systems

Abstract: Cyber-physical systems that include human beings and vehicles in a built environment, such as a building or a city, together with sensor networks and decision support systems have attracted much attention. In emergencies, which also include mobile searchers and rescuers, the interactions among civilians and the environment become much more diverse, and the complexity of the emergency response also becomes much greater. This paper surveys current research on sensor-assisted evacuation and rescue systems and discusses the related research issues concerning communication protocols for sensor networks, as well as several other important issues, such as the integrated asynchronous control of large-scale emergency response systems, knowledge discovery for rescue and prototyping platforms. Then, we suggest directions for further research.
Repressing malic enzyme 1 redirects glucose metabolism, unbalances the redox state, and attenuates migratory and invasive abilities in nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell lines

Abstract: A large amount of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH) is required for fatty acid synthesis and maintenance of the redox state in cancer cells. Malic enzyme 1(ME1)-dependent NADPH production is one of the three pathways that contribute to the formation of the cytosolic NADPH pool. ME1 is generally considered to be overexpressed in cancer cells to meet the high demand for increased de novo fatty acid synthesis. In the present study, we found that glucose induced higher ME1 activity and that repressing ME1 had a profound impact on glucose metabolism of nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC) cells. High incorporation of glucose and an enhancement of the pentose phosphate pathway were observed in ME1-repressed cells. However, there were no obvious changes in the other two pathways for glucose metabolism: glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation. Interestingly, NADPH was decreased under low-glucose condition in ME1-repressed cells relative to wild-type cells, whereas no significant difference was observed under high-glucose condition. ME1-repressed cells had significantly decreased tolerance to low-glucose condition. Moreover, NADPH produced by ME1 was not only important for fatty acid synthesis but also essential for maintenance of the intracellular redox state and the protection of cells from oxidative stress. Furthermore, diminished migration and invasion were observed in ME1-repressed cells due to a reduced level of Snail protein. Collectively, these results suggest an essential role for ME1 in the production of cytosolic NADPH and maintenance of migratory and invasive abilities of NPC cells.

Abstract: This paper introduced a improved Quantum-behaved Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm,Multi-swarm and Multi-phase Quantum-behaved Particle Swarm Optimization(MQPSO).In this algorithm,it divides the whole particle swarm into different groups and searchs in different phases.It avoids particle prematurity and improves global search performance.The results of several improtant test functions confirm that the convergent performance of MQPSO outperforms Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO) algorithm and Quantum-behaved Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm.

Abstract: This study is the first of its kind to document genetic diversity of giant mottled eel (Anguilla marmorata) among three geographic populations of Australia, Hainan Island, and Philippines. This study was performed on 60 young eels by using AFLP molecular marker technique. A total of 180 AFLP loci, of which 160 loci were polymorphic, were detected by four primer combinations. The percentage of polymorphic loci from Australia, Hainan Island, and Philippines was 78.33%, 79.44%, and 84.44%, respectively; Shannon's diversity index was 0.477 3±0.264 7, 0.484 4±0.270 2, and 0.514 6±0.243 3, respectively. The Gst and AMOVA analysis showed that there were 89.25% and 96.07% genetic variation within the three populations, and 10.75% and 3.93% genetic variation among populations. Our results indicate that genetic differentiation has occurred and has a positive correlation with geographic distant. Meanwhile, gene flows exist among all three populations. These data will be important for the farming management of A. marmorata.
Artifical Inducement and Microsatellite Analysis of Gynogenesis Pseudosciaena crocea

Abstract: Gynogenesis was induced in two groups of Pseudosciaena crocea by the cool-shock and hydrostatic pressure method.The 24 fry in the gynogenetic families G1 and G2,20 fry in their contrast groups and their parents were PCR amplified using 6 pairs of microsatellite marker primers(LYC0002?LYC0003,LYC0013,LYC0012,LYC0004 and LYC0006) and analyzed.The results showed that the effect of cool-shock method,obtained a hatching rate of 35.3%,and a survival rate of 9.9% at 45 days,was obviously better than hydrostatic pressure method.Four pairs of primers could amplify clearly distinct parental bands.The results of primers LYC0012 and LYC0006 revealed no male gene in G1,suggesting they all derived from gynogenesis.Amplification using primers LYC0013 and LYC0004 in G2 revealed the presence of male genes in 3 individuals,suggesting they came from normal fertilization.The homozygosity ratio of the offspring from the two families was 87.5% and 76.2% and the average was 81.9%.They were 0 respectively in their contrast groups.The homozygous ratio of gene improved for 81.9% by gynogenesis.This study shows that gynogenesis is an effective method to promote gene purification. In addition,microsatellite marker technique is an effective method of gynogenesis verification and genetic analysis.

Abstract: 吴茱萸碱是从中药吴茱萸中提取的天然生物碱。除具有较强的抗炎、镇痛等作用外,吴茱萸碱还能抑制肿瘤细胞活性与增殖、阻滞细胞周期、促进凋亡、促进自噬、抑制肿瘤微血管形成以及影响肿瘤表观遗传学修饰等。相关的通路如 PI3K-Akt和 JAK-STAT通路以及其对生存素、血管内皮生长因子和 miRNA的作用也陆续被揭示。随着吴茱萸碱相关衍生物和中药制剂不断地被合成与改进,研究人员对其抗肿瘤活性的认识逐步深入,推测其在未来具有较大的临床和药用开发价值。
:Evodiamine is the natural component extracted Euodiae Fructus. Recently, growing evidence has proved that evodiamine has great effects on suppressing cell viability and proliferation, arresting cell cycle, inducing apoptosis, promoting autophagy, inhibiting the formation of microvascular angiogenesis as well as affecting epigenetic modification in cancer. Recent studies have continuously revealed related signal pathways involved in evodiamine such as PI3K-Akt and JAK-STAT pathways, as well as the impact of evodiamine on survivin, vascular endothelial growth factor and miRNAs. With the development and synthesis of evodiamine derivatives and related herbal formulations, the understanding of antitumor activity of evodiamine is gradually deepening. Abstract: Flue-cured tobacco fermentation is one of the important processes in cigarette manufacturing production. In this thesis, the author interviewed the flue-cured tobacco fermentation mechanism, quality changes of fermentation process, environmental influences on fermentation quality, and fermentation method. By aiming at shortcomings of the current study, the author proposed the near-infrared means to judge the best period of fermentation and provided reference for cigarette enterprises.
Pathology of spleen in chickens fed on a diet deficient in methionine  [PDF]

Abstract: The purpose of this 42-day study was to investigate the effects of methionine deficiency on spleen by determining the relative weight, morphological changes of spleen, cell cycle and apoptosis of splenocytes, and oxidative markers of serum and spleen. One hundred and twenty one-day-old avian broilers were randomly divided into two groups and fed on a control diet (starter diet, methionine 0.50%; grower diet, methionine 0.40%) and methionine deficient diet (starter diet, methionine 0.26%; grower diet, methionine 0.28%) for 6 weeks. The relative weight of spleen was lighter in methionine deficiency than control group. Histopathologically, lymphopenia and congestion were observed. Ultrastructurally, there were more apoptosis lymphocytes in spleen and the mitochondria of lymphocytes were swelled in methionine deficiency. By flow cytometry, the G0/G1 phase of the cell cycle of the spleen was much higher (P < 0.01), and the S, G2+M phases and proliferating index were lower (P < 0.01) in methionine deficiency than in control group. And the percentage of apoptotic cells in the spleen was significantly increased in methionine deficiency (P < 0.01).The superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase activities, and abilities to inhibit hydroxyl radicals were greatly decreased while the malondialdehyde contents were markedly increased in methionine deficiency. It was concluded that methionine deficiency could restraine the development of the spleen by cell cycle arrest and increased apoptosis, cause splenic lesions and reduce splenic antioxidant function. The splenic function should be finally impaired and then the immune function could be impacted in chickens.

Abstract: The aims of this study were to clarify the effects of high vanadium on the renal cell cycle and apoptosis in broilers. 420 one-day-old avian broilers were divided into six groups and fed on a control diet (vanadium 0.073 mg/kg), and five high vanadium diets (vanadium 5 mg/kg, high vanadium group I; 15 mg/kg, high vanadium group II; 30 mg/kg, high vanadium group III; 45 mg/kg, high vanadium group IV; 60 mg/kg, high vanadium group V) throughout the experimental period of 42 days. As tested by flow cytometry, the percentage of apoptotic renal cells was increased in high vanadium group II, III, IV and V when compared with that of control group. The Proliferating index (PI) of renal cell and the ratio of S, G2 + M phase cells were markedly decreased and population of G0/G1 cells was increased in high vanadium group II, III, IV and V. The results showed that dietary vanadium in excess of 15 mg/kg was toxic to kidney by the renal cells cycle arrest and increased apoptosis, which caused the growth depression of the kidney in broilers.
