Conversations of a group of Physics’ teachers about textbooks’ images: an exploratory study

Abstract: In this work we realize an exploratory study based on a group of discussion with three Physics teachers to whom there were projected images of Physics books while questions were formulated. There is explored the conscience that they have on the complexities of the images, and the didactic analysis that they realize when they are placed in situation to think brings over of how they use them. Of the conversation there are inferred the meanings that emerge of your actions. This work continues a quantitative previous work, in which we study the conceptions of the teachers of diverse curricular areas, on the images in the educational materials (Fanaro, et. al., 2004). More than the half of the teachers integrates a set that we name "Image optimists”, treating itself about individuals that they support the " popular psychology "conceptions (Otero, 2002; Otero, Greca, Silveira, 2003). The results of the present work with a small group of discussion, suggest that these teachers lack theoretical tools that they make possible to realize a didactic analysis of the images. The problematics of the images in the education in sciences, would have to integrate the formation of the future teachers and the training of those who are in service. Finally, we propose some recommendations to think didactic actions relative to the visual language.

Abstract: this paper describes the process of development of a didactical sequence to teach basic concepts of quantum mechanics in secondary school. basically, the didactical framework adopted is described. the different conceptual structures that have to be developed to approach the problem of how to teach basic concepts of quantum mechanics starting from the student's knowledge, respecting the student's place (freedom) and inviting him to take his own responsibility, this implies creating an emotional dynamic of acceptance into the classroom. the conceptual structure of reference that must be defined by the researcher is described. the researcher analyzes the conceptual relationships existing in the scientific community where knowledge is generated and that he will adopt as his frame of reference, also, he must take into account the community where that knowledge will be reconstructed and the knowledge transformations that will be necessary for teaching. briefly, the conceptual structure proposed to teach is described and some results obtained during the scholar implementation of the cspt, related to the conceptualization and viability of the sequence, are discussed in general.

Abstract: Feline chronic gingivostomatitis (GECF) is a disease of unknown etiology and considered as one of the most frequent paradontal diseases in cats of medium and/or advanced age. This problem is aggravated in the case of cats suffering from some immunosuppressive pathology such as feline leukemia virus (FeLV), feline immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or feline panleukopenia virus (VPF), in which the probability of suffering from GECF is increased. There is a wide variety of treatments against GECF but none of them ensures a complete cure of the disease, with signs of recurrence being observed at the month of treatment. For these reasons, in this investigation we have evaluated a strain of Lactobacillus plantarum with probiotic capacity for the preventive and/or therapeutic purpose of this oral pathology in cats. This investigation was performed in accordance with the Institutional Animal Ethics Committee of the Veterinary Faculty of the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

Abstract: the main objectives of this study were: a) to analyze the meanings of adolescence, psychotherapy and related themes, trough focal groups with argentinean adolescents (15-20 years old, both genders), and their close relations (parents, teachers, and psychotherapists); b) to carry out a lexicometrical analysis of discursive textual data obtained from the discussion groups. the methodology was of quantitative nature, based on the lexicometrical analysis. the sample was intentional, no probabilistic. results were discussed on the basis of the general topic of adolescence, psychotherapy and related aspects (estimations and opinions about adolescence, family and peer relationships; educational, health and social systems; dif?culties or problems, protective factors and coping strategies.

Abstract: the text proposes a general assessment of the cuban monumental arts in the past fifty years by evaluating a group of criteria or guidelines considered to be essential for the critical judgment of this artistic expression. that is to say, how these works relate with the environment they are inserted in, what system of cultural values they make part of, what intrinsic values distinguish them in terms of artistic execution and conception, and how society uses them. from this analytical perspective, there is mention of those works that constitute real model of the process of aesthetic renovation taken place in cuba between 1959 and 2009; renovation that is expressed through different functional variants (parks, squares, ensembles, and mausoleums), a renovation that embodies a new notion of commemorative monument.

Abstract: during the dictatorship of franco, the government implemented a forgetfulness policy that took care to erase the republican commemorations of the public space, also it imposed the 1 of april and the 18 of july like anniversaries that legitimized its power. nevertheless, the memory of the republican anniversaries remained latent to a great extent like underground memory of the society. as opposed to the policy of forgetfulness exerted by the regime, triunfo tried to transform the 14 of april into a memory place being commemorated it in its pages.
