Abstract: In this paper, based on the known first integral method and the Riccati sub-ordinary differential equation (ODE) method, we try to seek the exact solutions of the general Gardner equation and the general Benjamin-Bona-Mahoney equation. As a result, some traveling wave solutions for the two nonlinear equations are established successfully. Also we make a comparison between the two methods. It turns out that the Riccati sub-ODE method is more effective than the first integral method in handling the proposed problems, and more general solutions are constructed by the Riccati sub-ODE method.

Abstract: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C13H12N2O2, obtained in a search for analogs of the fungicide fludioxonil [systematic name: 4-(2,2-difluoro-1,3-benzodioxol-4-yl)-1H-pyrrole-3-carbonitrile], contains two independent molecules, A and B. The benzene and pyrrole rings are inclined to each other at 38.5 (1) and 29.3 (1)° in molecules A and B, respectively. In the crystal, bifurcated N—H...(O,O) hydrogen bonds link A molecules into chains along [001], while B molecules are linked into layers parallel to the bc plane via bifurcated N—H...(N,N) hydrogen bonds.

Abstract: In the title compound, C12H6F2N2O2, the 2,2-difluoro-1,3-benzodioxole ring system is approximately planar [maximum deviation = 0.012 (2) ] and its mean plane is twisted with respect to the pyrrole ring, making a dihedral angle of 2.51 (9)°. In the crystal, N—H...N hydrogen bonds link the molecules into chains running along the a axis. π–π stacking is also observed between parallel benzene rings of adjacent molecules, the centroid–centroid distance being 3.7527 (13) .
A Modified Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm for Vehicle Routing Problems with Time Windows

Abstract: Vehicle routing problems with time windows (VRPTW for short) is an NP-hard problem and an extension of vehicle routing problems. This study presented a heuristic algorithm (ABC-T) to deal with vehicle routing problems with time windows. The ABC-T algorithm employed the artificial bee colony algorithm (known as ABC) and improved the global search capacity with tournament selection strategy. In this algorithm, the employed bees generated the new solutions by the neighborhood search; then, based on the tournament selection strategy, the food source selection probability was settled. Finally, the new solution was generated by the onlooker bees. The tournament selection strategy was used here to enhance the global search capacity of the ABC. Compared with the state-of-the-art algorithms available in the literature, the effectiveness of this approach was showed on the Solomon’s R102 problem.

Evaluating and Quantifying the Climate-Driven Interannual Variability in Global Inventory Modeling and Mapping Studies (GIMMS) Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI3g) at Global Scales

Abstract: Satellite observations of surface reflected solar radiation contain information about variability in the absorption of solar radiation by vegetation. Understanding the causes of variability is important for models that use these data to drive land surface fluxes or for benchmarking prognostic vegetation models. Here we evaluated the interannual variability in the new 30.5-year long global satellite-derived surface reflectance index data, Global Inventory Modeling and Mapping Studies normalized difference vegetation index (GIMMS NDVI3g). Pearson’s correlation and multiple linear stepwise regression analyses were applied to quantify the NDVI interannual variability driven by climate anomalies, and to evaluate the effects of potential interference (snow, aerosols and clouds) on the NDVI signal. We found ecologically plausible strong controls on NDVI variability by antecedent precipitation and current monthly temperature with distinct spatial patterns. Precipitation correlations were strongest for temperate to tropical water limited herbaceous systems where in some regions and seasons >?40% of the NDVI variance could be explained by precipitation anomalies. Temperature correlations were strongest in northern mid- to high-latitudes in the spring and early summer where up to 70% of the NDVI variance was explained by temperature anomalies. We find that, in western and central North America, winter-spring precipitation determines early summer growth while more recent precipitation controls NDVI variability in late summer. In contrast, current or prior wet season precipitation anomalies were correlated with all months of NDVI in sub-tropical herbaceous vegetation. Snow, aerosols and clouds as well as unexplained phenomena still account for part of the NDVI variance despite corrections. Nevertheless, this study demonstrates that GIMMS NDVI3g represents real responses of vegetation to climate variability that are useful for global models.
Land Use Change and Driving Forces in Farming District of Suburb: A Case Study in Gaoping District of Nanchong City

Abstract: In recent years, land use/cover change (LUCC) has become one of the eight key fields of the global environmental change, which has been affected by both natural factors and socio-economic factors. Land use, land change and driving forces have been discussed in many papers. With the rapid development of urbanization, the land use in typical farming district of suburbs changes constantly. The land use change and the driving forces in Gaoping District of Nanchong City were explored with GIS and mathematical model based on the spatial data of land use, the land use maps, and the details of land investigation from 1985 to 2004. The transformed area is 12 050hm2, occupying 14.84 percent of the total during the past 20 years in Gaoping, which mainly includes the increasing area transformed from the garden land (131.11), the roadway land (33.75%), the urban and industry land (92.72%), and the decreasing area transformed from the unused land (15.67%) and the cultivated land (6.97%). The spatial pattern of land use in Gaoping has changed greatly; the amount of land use patches increased by 2921, but the average area per patch the decreased. The water area decreased by 48.38%, the urban and industry land area decreased by 57.23%, the unused land area decreased by 42.22%, the woodland area decreased by 41.86%, the cultivated land area decreased by 30.07%, and the area of other two increased by 15.36% and 11.46%, respectively. The diversity and the fragmentation of land use increased by 4.499% and 37.234%, respectively; but the dominant patches decreased by 1.417%. Except for the garden land and the roadway land, the others increased, especially the water area increased by 50.63% and the unused land by 41.37%. The center of the cultivated land moved away from the urban area and the main roads. For example, in the central and southern area, the center of the cultivated land shifted from the main urban area to southeast and southwest by 2.465km and 1.759km, respectively. The center of the garden land moved to the urban area and the main roads, especially in the central area, the center moved by 3.448km. The water area center was away from Jialing River and where the reservoirs were gathered. The urban and industry land center went east. The centers of the roadway land and the unused land changed towards different direction, but the movements were not obvious. It is clear that the rapid growth of population and economic development become the main driving forces of the land use changes in this area, and the relevant policy changes also play an important role.
