THE LANDSCAPE CONCEPT IN ARCHAEOLOGY - THE PERSISTENT PLACES = O CONCEITO DE PAISAGEM EM ARQUEOLOGIA – OS LUGARES PERSISTENTES
Marcelo Fagundes
Holos Environment , 2009,
Abstract: The landscape study in archaeology presumes the use of differentiated categories in different knowledge areas, having as central focus the comprehension of the existing relations between humans and yours environments. This is signify to discuss of the operation shapes of the relations between culture and environment in a diachronic scale under a holistic and systemic perspective, in other words, the observation and explanation of the phenomena or events of one all, coordinated to each other, so that they act like an organized structure. This paper, of theoretical study, it has as preoccupation presents the different paradigms in which the landscape concept has been used in archaeology, of the same way it has been enabling the enlargement of archaeological site notion. It is known that humans walking through the environments in which they live, in which perceptions and concepts are established by means of the cognitive processes and, consequently, cultural processes. In this case the landscape is comprehended as a social construction, having like theoretical base the concepts of établissement (settlement) by Marcel Mauss; Place by Lewis R. Binford and Persistent Places by Sarah Schalanger.

ENGLISH: This paper presents part of the results of my doctoral thesis on the cultural dynamics of sixteen archaeological sites situated in Area 03 in Xingó, S o Francisco river valley, Brazil. Empirical data are presented that demonstrate the technological organization of the lithic industries at the sites. Then, through these data, it is shown what we can infer about the archaeological sites’ spatial distribution and interrelationship. These inferences are used to indicate a model of landscape use that can be used to understand the regional system of distribution and placement of archaeological sites.

A Cosmic Lattice as the Substratum of Quantum Fields
Helio Fagundes
Physics , 2003,
Abstract: A cosmology inspired structure for phase space is introduced, which leads to finitization and lattice-like discretization of position and momentum eigenvalues in a preferred, cosmic frame. Lorentz invariance is broken at very high energies, at present inaccessible. The divergent perturbation terms in quantum electrodynamics become finite and small; this could become a requirement leading to model restrictions in other perturbative theories. So the very success of the usual renormalization procedures is simply explained by their finitization, and is viewed as indicating the reality of the lattice.
Seed Size as Key Factor in Germination and Seedling Development of Copaifera langsdorffii (Fabaceae)  [PDF]
Matheus Lopes Souza, Marcílio Fagundes
American Journal of Plant Sciences (AJPS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/ajps.2014.517270
Abstract:

Seed size is a plastic trait of the plants that directly affect seed germination and seedling recruitment. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between seed size, seed germinability and seedling performance of Copaifera langsdorffii by testing four hypotheses: 1) larger seeds have higher germination percentage; 2) smaller seeds require less time to germinate and for initial development of the seedlings; 3) larger seeds produce more vigorous seedlings and 4) seed size negatively affects seedling root/shoot ratio. In 2011, we selected 30 individuals of C. langsdorffii from which 300 seeds were randomly collected in the plant canopy. All these seeds were weighted and placed in germination tray using vermiculite as substrate. Seed germinability and initial development of seedlings were monitored daily until cotyledons fell. Small seeds have higher germination percentage and germinate faster when compared to large seeds. Nonetheless, seedlings originated from larger seeds have longer development times, resulting in more vigorous seedlings. In addition, seedlings originating from small seeds allocate proportionally greater amount of resources to roots when compared to larger seeds. The fact that small seeds have higher germination percentage and faster germination favors the colonization of transient habitats. However, larger seeds produce more vigorous seedlings, favoring the seedling establishment in more stable habitats. Thus, we argue that high variability in seed size of C. langsdorffii favors its widespread geographic distribution.

Famílias palestinas no extremo sul do Brasil e na diáspora: experiências identitárias e aduaneiras
Jardim, Denise Fagundes;
Cadernos Pagu , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-83332007000200009
Abstract: in the following paragraphs, to investigate themes such as "palestinian identity" or "the arab family", and drawing on an ethnographic study of families living in chui, i intend to demonstrate the extent to which territorial identity is intermingled with aspects of family life. between "return trips" (that introduce young brazilians to the daily life of cousins, aunts and uncles in palestine), family relations (in the diaspora, relations forged in the city of chui and other places in brazil and abroad), and recent international events - there is no single element that can explain the re-creation and the relevance of a social identity based on the recognition of a common origin and destiny.

Abstract: the use of the word "palestine" holds a diversity of "paths" and social conflicts that acted in a way to give meaning to a social identity of individuals either as a minority in brazil or as a social group that live in any other national states, even in israel. the goal of this article is to discuss about the territorial redefinitions and citizenship the demonstrate the complexity of the palestinian auto denomination. in this order is necessary to recall the history of the recent conflicts between nations, territorial redefinitions, diplomatic "problems?" that placed palestine in our century geopolitical map in order to comprehend the use and the updates of this theme among the palestine immigrants that live in brazil. the understanding od the different itinerary that allow us to recognize a centralization of the palestine nationalism at the updates of the palestine identity still in the context of origin, before and after 1948. the redefinitions of frontiers among national states and citizenship provide a better understanding about the palestine identity and the multiplicity of itinerary of immigration that ocurr in the palestine immigrants, from the south of brazil, reports .
