Imazapyr root exudation from eucalypt seedlings cultivated in nutritive solution

Abstract: imazapyr has been used in brazilian eucalypt cultivation for the maintenance of clearings and coppicing control in areas undergoing stand reform. however, inquiries have been made as to the final fate of the molecule. imazapyr root exudation in eucalypt plants was evaluated through a bioassay under greenhouse conditions, by applying different herbicide doses (0.000, 0.375, 0.750, 1.125, and 1.500 kg ha-1 a.i.) on eucalyptus grandis seedlings derived from vegetative propagation, hydroponically cultivated in 2.500 ml vases. forty-day-old seedlings of the same clone were used as bioindicators, transplanted to the vases two days after herbicide application. after a period of 13 days of coexistence, the sprayed plants were removed and discarded; ten days later, the visual symptoms of toxicity were evaluated and the total dry biomass (aerial part and roots) of the bioindicators were determined. the lowest herbicide dose (0.375 kg ha-1 a.i.) affected the total biomass and growth, being most evident in the aerial part, with larger i50 for root dry biomass. the e. grandis seedlings exuded imazapyr, and/or its metabolites, in concentrations capable of affecting the growth of plants of the same species.
Caracteres morfológicos de soja e braquiária consorciadas sob subdoses de fluazifop-p-butil

Abstract: A degrada o das pastagens é um dos maiores problemas da pecuária, afetando diretamente a sustentabilidade do setor. Como alternativas de recupera o, tem sido proposta a utiliza o de culturas anuais em consórcio com forrageiras. No entanto, para a viabiliza o do consórcio, é necessário o manejo adequado da forrageira minimizando a competi o com a cultura. Objetivou-se, neste trabalho, avaliar os efeitos da aplica o do fluazifop-p-butil em caracteres morfológicos de Brachiaria brizantha e soja, cultivadas em consórcio. O experimento foi realizado em Coimbra-MG. Foram avaliadas seis doses de fluazifop-p-butil (0, 18, 36, 54, 72 e 90g ha-1) aplicadas em duas épocas (21 e 28 dias após a emergência da soja - DAE) e 2 testemunhas (soja e braquiária em monocultivo e capinadas). N o foi verificada intera o entre doses e épocas de aplica o. Todavia, as doses 0, 18 e 36g ha-1, influenciaram negativamente o índice de área foliar (IAF), a biomassa seca das folhas, da haste + pecíolos e das vagens das plantas de soja. O IAF, a biomassa seca das folhas (BSF), o número, o comprimento e a biomassa seca dos colmos (BSC) da B. brizantha, foram afetados pelas doses e épocas de aplica o. A aplica o aos 28 DAE foi mais prejudicial à B. brizantha do que quando realizada aos 21 DAE. Na avalia o efetuada aos 53 DAE, para as variáveis BSF, BSC e IAF, as doses 0, 18 e 36g ha-1, aplicadas aos 21 DAE, e as doses 0 e 18g ha-1, aplicadas aos 28 DAE, n o diferiram da B. brizantha em monocultivo. Aos 78 DAE, somente a dose 0 n o diferiu da B. brizantha em monocultivo nas duas épocas de aplica o. Ao utilizar 36g ha-1 de fluazifop-p-butil, houve o favorecimento da B. brizantha em rela o à soja. Por outro lado, a dose de 54g ha-1 de fluazifop-p-butil privilegiou a soja em detrimento da B. brizantha. Nas condi es em que foi conduzido o ensaio a faixa ideal do herbicida, visando o consórcio, foi de 40g ha-1 de fluazifop-p-butil.
Weed control and selectivity of flumioxazin in eucalyptus

Abstract: Flumioxazin is a registered herbicide for agricultural crops what is an important fact concerning integrated management for weeds in eucalyptus plantations. This study evaluated the efficiency of weed control and the phytotoxicity in eucalyptus plants caused by the herbicide flumioxazin applied alone or in tank mixture with sulfentrazone and isoxaflutole. The aim was to extend the use of thisherbicide in eucalyptus. The herbicide was applied to eucalyptus plants using precision backpack sprayer. It was evaluated, visually,the intoxication percentage and measured height and diameter of eucalyptus trees, the control plants and dry mass of weeds. It wasconcluded that flumioxazin is selective to the eucalyptus at the 125 g.ha-1 dosage, and its efficiency in controlling weeds pre-emergencewas better when mixed in the tank with isoxaflutole and sulfentrazone.

Tolerancia de três cultivares de cebola ao Ioxynil e Oxyfluorfen em semeadura direta

Abstract: to estimate the tolerance of three onion (allium cepa l.) cultivars (baia periforme super precoce, granex ouro and texas grano 502 prr), cultivated under direct drilled system, to ioxynil and oxyfluorfen, and the efficiency of these herbicides in weed control a trial was installed in vi?osa, state of minas gerais, brazil. three rates of each herbicide (0.125, 0.250, 0.372 kg/ha and 0.096, 0.192, 0.288 kg/ha) were applied 27 days after drilling, in a nested factorial design with four replications. ioxynil was more selective than oxyfluorfen, specially at higher rates. the lowest rate of ioxynil did not provide effective control of most weeds present. baia periforme super precoce cultivar was more tolerant in relation to texas grano 502 prr. the susceptibility of texas grano 502 prr to oxyfluorfen was expressed by significant decreases in final onion plant population and bulb yield.

Abstract: the objective of this work was to evaluate the effects of pre-harvest desiccation of soybean and brachiaria brizantha cv. marandu, treated with reduced doses of graminicide under intercropping system on soybean mechanical harvest as well as forage regrowth and straw yield. a 5x3 factorial scheme was used, consisting of five rates of fluazifop-p-butyl (0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 g ha-1) and three intercropping desiccation managements, without desiccation or desiccated at r7 or r8 soybean stage, in a randomized complete block, with four replications. two control treatments were included; soybean and b. brizantha under monocrop kept clean by hand hoeing. b. brizantha was highly susceptible to herbicide. soybean and b. brizantha intercropped at 15 g ha-1 of graminicide and desiccated at r7 soybean stage allowed soybean mechanical harvest and grain yield similar to those achieved under monocrop, providing dry mass accumulation of b. brizantha of 4.6 t ha-1, 60 days after soybean harvest. b. brizantha intercropped with soybean, without graminicide application, accumulated 6 t ha-1 of dry mass at soybean harvest and 9.3 t ha-1, 60 days after, with mass accumulation of b. brizantha under monocrop being 13.3 and 21.6 t ha-1, respectively.
Taxa transpiratória de mudas de eucalipto em resposta a níveis de água no solo e à convivência com braquiária

Abstract: the effects of brachiaria brizantha stapf on the transpiratory rate of eucalyptus citriodora hook and e. grandis w. hill ex maiden seedlings cultivated in soils with three levels of water under greenhouse conditions were evaluated. treatments were arranged in a factorial design, with four repetitions (2x3x4): two species (e. citriodora and e. grandis), three levels of water (20%, 23% and 26%), and four populations of b. brizantha (0, 1, 2 and 3 plants per vase). water level in the vases was maintained constant until the last experiment evaluation, at 70 days after seedlings transplant. measurements were done with an infrared gas analyzer (irga). independently of water level in the soil, brachiaria brizantha demonstrated its competitiveness for e. citriodora and e. grandis initial growing, by transpiratory rate reduction. e. citriodora or e. grandis seedlings upper third leaves presented higher transpiratory rate than mean and lower third leaves, independently of b. brizantha population and water level in the soil.

Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the soil microbiota activity associated to S. aterrimum rhizosphere, during the phytoremediation process of a soil contaminated with trifloxysulfuron-sodium. S. aterrimum was cultivated in vases (6,0 L) filled with soil, after trifloxysulfuron-sodium, at 7.5 g ha-1, was applied or not. Every 15 days after sowing (DAS), rhizospheric soil was collected for soil microbial respiration (amount of evolved CO2) and microbial biomass carbon (MBC) analysis. To determine herbicide residues in the soil samples, after phytoremediation, Sorghum bicolor L. was cultivated as an indicator species, in addition to high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis. The microbiota associated to S. aterrimum rhizosphere showed to be sensitive to trifloxysulfuron-sodium and may be used as a microbiological indicator of disturbances caused by this herbicide in the environment. Regarding time for remediation, 45 days of development is enough for S. aterrimum to reduce residual trifloxysulfuron-sodium to a level not able to cause toxicity to the indicator plant. Objetivou-se, com este trabalho, avaliar a atividade da microbiota associada à rizosfera de Stizolobium aterrimum, durante processo de fitorremedia o de solo contaminado com o herbicida trifloxysulfuron-sodium. Em vasos com capacidade para seis litros, após aplica o ou n o de 7,5 g ha-1 do herbicida trifloxysulfuron-sodium, cultivou-se a espécie vegetal S. aterrimum. Após a semeadura, procedeu-se à coleta de solo rizosférico, quinzenalmente, para determina o da respira o da microbiota do solo (quantidade de CO2 evoluído) e carbono da biomassa microbiana (CBM). Para determina o do resíduo do herbicida nas amostras de solo, após a remedia o, cultivou-se sorgo (Sorghum bicolor L.), como espécie bioindicadora, além de ser efetuada análise por cromatografia líquida de alta eficiência (CLAE). Observou-se que a microbiota associada à rizosfera de S. aterrimum é sensível ao trifloxysulfuron-sodium, constituindo-se indicador microbiológico de distúrbios causados por este herbicida no ambiente. Quanto ao tempo para remedia o, constatou-se que 45 dias de desenvolvimento é tempo suficiente para que S. aterrimum promova a diminui o do resíduo de trifloxysulfuron-sodium a um nível incapaz de causar toxicidade à planta
Taxa transpiratória de mudas de eucalipto em resposta a níveis de água no solo e à convivência com braquiária

Abstract: Objetivou-se avaliar a interferência de Brachiaria brizantha Stapf sobre a taxa transpiratória de mudas de Eucalyptus citriodora Hook e Eucalyptus grandis W. Hill ex Maiden, cultivadas em solos com diferentes níveis de água, em condi es de casa de vegeta o. O delineamento utilizado foi o de blocos ao acaso, com quatro repeti es, em arranjo fatorial (2x3x4): duas espécies (E. citriodora e E. grandis), três níveis de água (20%, 23% e 26%) e quatro popula es de B. brizantha (0, 1, 2 e 3 plantas/vaso). O nível de água nos vasos foi mantido constante, até a última avalia o do experimento, 70 dias após o transplante das mudas. A mensura o da taxa transpiratória foi realizada com um analisador de gás infravermelho. Brachiaria brizantha, independentemente do nível de água no solo, demonstrou ser competitiva no crescimento inicial de E. citriodora ou E. grandis, pela redu o da taxa transpiratória. As folhas do ter o superior das mudas de E. citriodora ou de E. grandis apresentaram maior taxa transpiratória que as folhas dos ter os mediano e inferior, independentemente da popula o de B. brizantha e do nível de água no solo.

Abstract: O objetivo deste trabalho foi estudar o efeito do espa amento e do modo de aplica o da aduba o nitrogenada na cultura do milho. A pesquisa foi desenvolvida no ano agrícola 2003/04, na Esta o Experimental de Coimbra – UFV, em um experimento disposto no delineamento de blocos casualizados, com 4 repeti es, no esquema fatorial 3 x 3 x 2 (3 cultivares – UFVM 100, AG 9010 e AG 1051, 3 modos de aplica o do nitrogênio – 0, 120 kg ha-1 de N no plantio e 30 kg ha-1 de N no plantio + 90 kg ha-1 de N, na quarta folha completamente expandida, e 2 espa amentos entre fileiras – 1,0 e 0,5 m). A aplica o de nitrogênio, parcelado ou todo no plantio, elevou a altura de plantas das cultivares, independentemente do espa amento; o espa amento de 0,50 m, proporcionou aumento de 8% na produtividade de gr os; n o houve diferen a significativa na produtividade de gr osdas cultivares estudadas com a aplica o de 120 kg ha-1 de N no plantio ou parcelado (30 kg ha-1 de N no plantio + 90 kg ha-1 de N, na quarta folha completamente expandida). The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of nitrogen application mode and spacing on corn culture. The study was carried out in 2003/04 agricultural years, at the Experimental Stationof Coimbra – UFV. The experiment was installed in a complete randomised block design. Treatments were arranged in a 3 x 3 x 2 factorial scheme with four replicates (three cultivates - UFVM 100, AG 9010 and AG 1051; three nitrogen application modes - 0, 120kg ha-1 of N in planting and 30 kg ha-1 at sowing + 90 kg ha-1 at four fully expanded leaves; and two plant spacing – 1.0 and 0.5 m). Either at sowing or parcel out, the nitrogen application increased the plant height in all plant spacing used; the spacing reduction, from 1.0 m to 0.50 m, provided an increase of 8% in grains productivity; the 120 kg ha-1 nitrogen application, either at sowing or divided in two modes (30 kg ha-1 at sowing and 90 kg ha-1 atfour fully expanded leaves), did not show any effect on the characteristics evaluated.
