Genetic diversity and population differentiation of Sagittaria potamogetifolia Merr

Abstract: 小慈姑是中国南部狭域分布的易危水生植物。采用聚丙烯酰胺凝胶电泳和等位酶分析方法,研究了该种江西东乡、湖南茶陵、广西桂林和福建武夷山4个地点的8个自然居群的遗传分化及其与地理位置的相关性。9个酶系统18个等位酶位点的检测结果表明,小慈姑有较高水平的遗传多样性:多态位点百分率P=16.67%—38.89%,平均每位点等位基因数A=1.278—1.833,平均预期杂合度He=0.0941—0.1928,平均观察杂合度Ho=0.1461—0.2127。居群之间有较高的遗传一致度I=0.7161—0.9965。根据Nei s遗传距离所作出的聚类分析显示,同地居群之间有较紧密的遗传关系,居群间的遗传分化与空间距离呈正相关。

Abstract: Randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers quickly provide linkage information1~2] ,especially in conifers where haploid megagametophytes can be used for genotyping3]. Traditionally use of slab gel electro-phresis results in qualitative data that can be manually manipulated to gain semiquantitative information about the polymorphic RAPD fragments. We have proposed the use of an integrated microfluidic chip-based system as a new tool in the analysis of polymorphic RAPD fragments. The chip-based method was found to be very sensitive, requiring much less sample and only quarter the time compared to the agarose gel method. The automated data analysis sizes and quantitates the DNA fragments,thus yielding a more thorough,reproducible,sensitive,and rapid analysis.
An iterative method for prediction of RNA secondary structures in-cluding pseudoknots based on minimum of free energy and covari-ance

Abstract: Most functional RNA molecules have characteristic, highly conserved structures, such as pseudoknots. But the prediction of RNA pseudoknots has largely remained a difficult problem, and many existing algorithms for prediction of RNA secondary structures do not have the ability to predict pseudoknots. Here we present a new method for predicting RNA secondary structures including pseudoknots through iteration. The algorithm combines thermodynamic and covariation information to assign scores to all possible base pairings. Base pairings are then predicted with the help of the iterated RNA folding algorithm based on minimum of free energy. Test result shows that nearly all pseudoknots are predicted. Compared to other methods, the method achieves a specificity that is among the best and a sensitivity that is nearly the best.
Entomopathogenic fungal parasites of scale insects and their potential in biological control

Abstract: Scale insects (Hemiptera: Coccoidea) compose a group of important plant pests of agricultural crops, forest plants, ornamental plants and fruit trees. The history of the study of entomopathogenic fungi as a biological insecticide is reviewed according to the three developmental stages: the pioneering stage, the slow development stage, and the prosperity stage. Additionally, the status of this field in China was discussed. A list including approximately 140 species within 55 genera of the recorded fungal pathogens of scale insects in the world was provided. Finally, we provide four suggestions for the development of entomopathogenic fungi in the future.
Radiofrequency ablation as a treatment for hilar cholangiocarcinoma

Abstract: AIM: To explore the role of radio-frequency ablation (RFA) as a treatment for hilar cholangiocarcinoma.METHODS: Eleven patients with obstructive cholestasis underwent Computed Tomography (CT) examination, occupying lesions were observed in the hepatic hilar region in each patient. All lesions were confirmed as cholangioadenocarcinoma by biopsy and were classified as type III or IV by percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography. Patients were treated with multiple electrodes RFA combined with other adjuvant therapy. The survival rate, change of CT attenuation coefficient of the tumor and tumor size were studied in these patients after RFA.RESULTS: In a follow-up CT scan one month after RFA, a size reduction of about 30% was observed in six masses, and two masses were reduced by about 20% in size, three of the eleven masses remained unchanged. In a follow-up CT scan 6 mo after RFA, all the masses were reduced in size (overall 35%), in which the most significant size reduction was 60%. The survival follow-up among these eleven cases was 18 mo in average. Ongoing follow-up showed that the longest survival case was 30 mo and the shortest case was 10 mo.CONCLUSION: RFA is a microinvasive and effective treatment for hilar cholangiocarcinoma.

Abstract: The purpose of this paper is using Korpelevich's extragradient method to study the existence problem of solutions and approximation solvability problem for a class of systems of finite family of general nonlinear variational inequality in Banach spaces, which includes many kinds of variational inequality problems as special cases. Under suitable conditions, some existence theorems and approximation solvability theorems are proved. The results presented in the paper improve and extend some recent results.
Concentration of Unknown Atomic Entangled States via Entanglement Swapping through Raman Interaction

Abstract: We show that entanglement concentration of unknown atomic entangled states is achieved via the implementation of entanglement swapping based on Raman interaction in cavity QED. A maximally entangled state is obtained from a pair of partially entangled states probabilistically. Due to Ramaninteraction of two atoms with a cavity mode and an external driving field, the influence of atomic spontaneous emission has been eliminated. Because of the virtual excitation of the cavity mode, the decoherence of cavity decay and thermal field is neglected.

Abstract: A scheme of quantum nondemolition measurement of transverse optical phonons in a Raman crystal is presented through detecting an anti-Stokes field. The exact solutions of the system is obtained. According to the calculation of the criteria for quantum nondemolition measurements, it is shown that under certain conditions the amplitude quadrature component of the phonon mode can be measured without demolition by the phase quadrature component of the anti-Stokes mode.

Abstract: A scheme of quantum nondemolition measurement is proposed for probing the phonon inside a crystal by using the Raman-induced Kerr effect. The results of calculation show that under certain conditions either a backaction evading measurement or a quantum state preparation can be performed.
