El desarrollo de la ciencia. Un enfoque epistemológico
Evaristo Méndez
Espacio Abierto , 2000,
Pe?a Vera,Tania; Méndez,Evaristo;
Opción , 2003,
Abstract: this study begins with a hypothesis as to how the deficient informative services offered by university files affect all management administration, and proposes the objective of analyzing the influence of management information in strategic management decisions as well. the theory behind informative and communicative processes, filing, information management; information systems, and decisions making and problem solving were described. a questionnaire was applied to those in charge of files and other managers. the conclusion was that documentary information management in luz is oriented towards internal processes, without taking into consideration user satisfaction.

Tribological behaviour of reactive and co-sputtered W-S-C coatings
Evaristo,M.; Nossa,A.; Cavaleiro,A.;
Ciência & Tecnologia dos Materiais , 2006,
Abstract: w-c-s films were deposited either by a reactive process in an ar+ch4 atmosphere or by co-sputtering ws2 and c targets. the films were characterized concerning their chemical composition and mechanical properties. the results showed that the films, in both systems, have similar properties. co-sputtered films are amorphous, whereas in the reactive process a gradual l oss of cristallinity is observed with the increase of c content in the films. the hardness and the adhesion are similar for both systems. the increase of c alloying to the films led to the improvement of both their hardness and adhesion. the tribological performance of the coatings was tested by ball-on-disk. the films deposited by co-sputtering present better results than the reactive deposited ones. with the increase of c content in these coatings an increase of the wear resistance is observed, reaching in the best case a wear coefficient of 3.1×10-16 m3/n×m. in the films deposited by reactive process, low wear coefficients can also be reached but no regular trend with increasing c contents can be observed.

Heavy Metal Contaminated Food Crops Irrigated with Wastewater in Peri Urban Areas, Zambia  [PDF]

Abstract: Studies on peri urban farming in Zambia have not adequately tackled the issues pertaining to heavy metal contaminated wastewater irrigation farming. The study investigated heavy metal contamination of water, soils and crops at two peri urban areas in Zambia. Two study sites were New Farm Extension in Mufulira Town in the Copperbelt Province and Chilumba Gardens in Kafue Town in Lusaka Province. The heavy metals investigated were lead, copper, cobalt, nickel and chromium. These heavy metals were found to be higher than acceptable limits in wastewater used to irrigate crops and there are potential human health risks associated with consumption of heavy metal contaminated food crops which have implications on the livelihoods of people. Samples of water, soil and crops were collected and analysed for lead (Pb), copper (Cu), chromium (Cr), cobalt (Co) and nickel (Ni) using the Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS). The data on heavy metals was analysed using mean, standard error and T-test. The results indicated that the levels of heavy metals in wastewater, soil and food crops were above acceptable limits at two study sites. It can be concluded that there was heavy metal contamination of wastewater, soil and food crops at the two peri-urban areas in Zambia. The study highlighted the actual levels of heavy metal contaminant uptake in food crops consumed by the peri urban population. The information from this study can be used by the relevant authorities to develop appropriate measures for monitoring and control of heavy metal contamination in wastewater irrigation farming systems in peri urban areas inZambia.

A paz e as religi?es
Evaristo, Paulo;
Estudos Avan?ados , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-40142004000300022
Abstract: there will only be resistance to violent action when human awareness is awakened. that is why the author appeals to authentic religions, hoping they may create the conditions for world peace - not only through prayers, but above all by establishing a climate of world peace. so far, in this new phase of facing an increasingly agonizing problem, little has been required from the world of religions and still less from young people's initiatives. in brief, the author's proposal is for the university of s?o paulo to create the conditions to prepare young people for their future responsibility in favor of peace. this should begin as soon as, and persevere as much as possible. a world ethics would certainly be welcome at this time.
