Abstract: -objectives: compare the analgesic efficacy of two non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (nsaids) belonging to the family of propionic acids after oral surgery in order to assess which one is most effective with the minimum side effects and lowest dose. normally, the pain after oral surgery is considered as moderate-intense and nsaids are the first choice when treating post-surgical dental pain. as we know, the great problem of these drugs is found in their undesirable effects. the enantiomer-s(+) component is known to be related with analgesia and need for lower dose of these drugs. -design: the patients are given questionnaires with pain assessment tables and different observations are made: post-surgical pain, pain in the first hour after administration of the analgesic, inflammation, bleeding, hematoma, etc. we assess the effect of the different drugs used in the study based on the efficacy-time coordinates as well as the anti-inflammatory effect and their side effects. -results: it is verified that there is moderate pain after oral surgery and the drugs used are effective in the doses and intervals indicated. during the first hour after taking the analgesic, those patients treated with dexketoprofen trometamol (dkt) presented less pain compared to those who were treated with ibuprofen (ibu). it is verified that there is inflammation in most of the interventions, the extractions of the semi-impacted third molars (sitm) present greater bleeding on the first day and the extractions of impacted third molars (itm) present more bleeding on the third day. these last two interventions (itm also present hematoma. -conclusions: we demonstrate the greater analgesic efficacy of dexketoprofen trometamol in the first hour after the oral surgical intervention and its greater anti-inflammatory effect.
The Drop in Crime Rates. A Multivariate Analysis of Long-Term Trends  [PDF]
Teodoro Hernández de Frutos, Esther Casares García
Sociology Mind (SM) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/sm.2018.81003
Abstract: This paper confirms the hypothesis that crime is declining in westerns countries by analysing three representative methods of police registration of crime figures: the French “procedural “method, the “primie facie” method used in England and Wales, and the “dualize” model adopted in Spain. Based on the assumption that crime is a legal-cultural phenomenon, the main characteristics of each model are examined, and the conclusion can be reached that while comparing time series drawn up from annual figures of police recorded crime would be unrealistic, due to the historic peculiarities of each country, it is possible to compare the magnitude and the general trends and developments, as they are independent from data registration methods. The conclusion is that in the three models, it is possible to observe a fall in crime rates on a global level, the continuous emergence of types of crimes as a result of social change, improved practices in police registration and classification of data and, a growing interest among citizens in receiving reliable data.

Abstract: Renewable energies and, in general, green energy technologies, are an area of a growing interest for mitigating the effects of climate change. The aim of this study is to analyse R & D efforts of European countries in sustainable energies through the analysis of its participation in the Energy Call of the 7th Framework Programme (FP) of the European Union. Results obtained show that Spanish R & D is very important in solar and wind sectors. In addition, public system and companies of the energy sector occupy a very important position in projects funded under the Energy call of the 7th FP. This confirms the innovative potential achieved of Spanish R & D which has managed to establish Spain as one of the leading international references in renewable technologies, particularly in solar and wind energies, while in Europe and worldwide contexts, biofuels are the most important area.

Journal of Encapsulation and Adsorption Sciences (JEAS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/jeas.2015.53010
Abstract: An essential oil is the volatile lipophilic component extracted from plants. Microencapsulation systems protect the essential oil from degradation and evaporation, and at the same time allow a sustained release. This work analyzed and characterized the rosemary essential oil microcapsules prepared by co-extrusion technique using alginate as wall material and calcium chloride as cross linker. Several instrumental techniques were used: optical microscopy, coulter counter, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), termogravimetric analysis (TGA), spectrophotometry, antimicrobial test and chromatography. Results show that rosemary oil has pesticidal properties, and its microencapsulation allows knowing that these properties remain inside the microcapsules.
ABSTRACT: This article tries to offer four different conjunctures in terms of political, social, ideological and economical choices for the political transition in Cuba. Therefore, we propose that the possibilities of each other of these ones will depend from the power-holders, the economical choices, the ideological changes, the international relations and the civil society behaviour.
Acceso vascular para hemodiálisis en pacientes con enfermedad renal crónica
González García,Emma Esther; Castillo Montoya,Rolando;
MEDISAN , 2009,
Abstract: the current situation of the vascular approach for hemodialysis was valued by means of a longitudinal and cross-sectional study of active patients that started their treatment from the creation of the department of hemodyalisis in "dr. juan bruno zayas" general teaching hospital of santiago de cuba from 1996 to september, 2008. neccesary data (cause of renal disease, sex, age, type of vascular approach, time in dialysis, previous attempt at arteriovenous fistula and others) were obtained from automated medical records, physical examination and evaluation of the vascular approach. the latter was performed specially through an autogenous arteriovenous fistula located in the elbow anterior flexure; a procedure that had been attempted 2 or more times in 21 patients of the total and it had failed by deficiency of the vessel state and thrombosis of these fistulae. the occurrence of aneurysms was the most frequent complication attributable to the little rotation in the punction site.

Abstract: we tested whether prejudice against a female leader is due to the perception of incongruence between the leadership role and her gender role and studied the influence of this perception on people's causal attributions about her successes and failures. specifically, 523 participants evaluated a male or a female candidate for a leadership position in an industry that was congruent or incongruent with the candidate's gender role or unspecified. participants showed prejudice against the female candidate, especially when she worked in an industry incongruent with her gender role, and frequently made external causal attributions about her successes (e.g., she is lucky). in contrast, participants generally made internal causal attributions about the male candidate's successes (e.g., he is skilled). the interpretation of these results invokes the role congruity theory (eagly karau, 2002).
Resultados de la macrotrabeculectomía en el glaucoma primario de ángulo abierto
Novoa Sánchez,Esther; García González,Francisco;
Revista Cubana de Oftalmolog?-a , 1999,
Abstract: macrotrabeculectomy was used as a surgical procedure in patients with simple chronic glaucoma and its results and effectiveness as a filtering surgery were evaluated. this surgery was performed in 19 eyes with primary open-angle glaucoma, intraocular pressure (iop) over 26 mmhg, d/d index 0,3 to 0,8 and minimal or evident alterations of the visual field (vf) that were systematically assesed in the first, third and sirxth months of the postoperative follow-up. iop lowered from 28 mmhg ± 1,8 to 15,9 mmhg ± 2,2 in the postoperative period, with the required use of a betablocker just in 4 cases (21,0 %) for controlling it; c/d index and vf remained practically the same; postoperative va was reduced in 2 cases (10,5 %) with previous crystalline opacity. the transoperative ophtalmological complications were: ciliary body protusion in 4 cases (21,0 %). among the postoperative complications, hyphemia was found in 10 patients (52,6 %), ocular hypertension in 6 cases in the first 4-6 weeks and an increased crystalline opacity in 2 patients (10,5 %). there were stable iop control in the majority of cases, discrete changes in visual functions (va and vf) and a low number of irrelevant complications being hyphemia the most frequent.
Análisis de la cooperación tecnológica Espa?a - Argentina mediante indicadores de patentes
Plaza,Luis Manuel; García-Carpintero,Esther;
Revista iberoamericana de ciencia tecnolog?-a y sociedad , 2011,
Abstract: this paper aims to analyze the activities of technological cooperation between spain and argentina, focusing on the analysis of argentina's patents and, among them, those arising from the collaboration with spain. the framework of this analysis is the broader context of the study of science, technology and innovation policies in both countries, as well as the cooperation ties between them. to this end, we have consulted the databases of the united states patents & trademark office (uspto) and the european patent database (epo), gathering information for the period 2000-2009. the results of the study reveal that, although there is scientific cooperation between argentina and spain, the bilateral activities with possible market projections undertaken in recent years have not resulted in the generation of patents. however, those cooperation ties can be used for future identification of action areas and the implementation of technological and business initiatives of common interest.
