Ichneumonoideos (Hymenoptera) parasitoides del complejo de orugas cortadoras en pasturas de alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) en la Argentina Central
Estela, Baudino;
Neotropical Entomology , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S1519-566X2005000300008
Abstract: the knowledge about the role of natural enemies is crucial for integrated pest management systems. parasitoids are considered most important for biological control, although the quantitative dimension of their effect on hosts is not always known. the objective of the present study was to survey the parasitoids of cutworms in the northeastern area of la pampa province, argentina. the field work was conducted during four years (1999 to 2002). larvae of agrotis gypaetina guenée, a. malefida (guenée) and peridroma saucia (hübner) (lepidoptera: noctuidae) were collected in a fortnightly interval in alfalfa pastures, in order to establish the incidence of hymenopterous parasitoids in three areas of the eastern physiographic area of la pampa, argentina. these larvae were kept in breeding laboratory and fed with artificial diet until emergence of the parasitoids. the larvae were then identified and quantified. parasitoid species of four genera of ichneumonidae were found: alophophion sp. cushman (ophioninae), campoletis sp. f?rster (campopleginae), thymebatis spp. brèthes (two species) and eutanyacra sp. cameron (ichneumoninae); and one species of braconidae: glyptapanteles bourquini (blanchard) (microgastrinae). new host species for alophophion, thymebatis and eutanyacra were recorded. alophophion was responsible for 80% of the parasitoidism, was present in all the regions studied and parasitized all the species of cutworm found.

Social y culturalmente ambiguos: criollos-mestizos de Tucumán, siglo XVII
Noli,Estela;
Memoria americana , 2010,
Abstract: this article analyzes the influence of indigenous societies on the descendants of spanish conquistadors, known as criollos. the subject is approached through a case study which shows how a faction of san miguel de tucumán town council (cabildo) tried to prevent the admission of juan jordán de trejo as deputy governor (teniente de gobernador). he belonged to the melián de leguizamo y guevara family, owners of encomiendas in tafí, but his lower lineage made him served as the town's administrator. specific characteristics of his intercultural persona resembling a mirror image -referred to as spanishization or westernization of the indians- will be studied, including his fluency in the indigenous language, his knowledge of pre-hispanic societies and their territories and his illiteracy. his role as interethnic mediator (passeur culturel), and the advantages and drawbacks such a profile presents at different junctures, for social and political participation in the dominant group, will also be analyzed.
Inscribir el pasado en el presente: memoria y espacio urbano
Schindel, Estela;
Política y cultura , 2009,
Abstract: this work deals with the "memory places" as a privileged space of construction of collective memories in latin american societies affected by dictatorships or inner armed conflicts. this is exposed through three different types of memory places: "testimonial sites"; monuments, museums and memorials; and local, decentralized, performative practices of inscribing the memories in the public space. these are analyzed regarding issues such as the actors, addressees, contents and means involved in each case. in the context of what some authors call the "globalization of memory" the question about the existence of a specific latinamerican language of memory is posed.
?Por qué auditar a los comités de ética en investigación?
Quiroz,Estela;
Revista Peruana de Medicina Experimental y Salud Pública , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1726-46342010000300019
Abstract: ethics committees in biomedical research have the responsibility to ensure the protection of human participants in the studies. in order to improve the quality of their work they must undergo audit procedures commissioned by the sponsors and inspections done by the regulatory authorities. through these procedures, improvement of their functions should be guaranteed, so they can optimize their tasks and accomplish in the best way the purpose for which they were created.
La normalidad del trabajo, empleos normales y vidas de trabajo: razones para trabajar
Grassi, Estela;
Revista Katálysis , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1414-49802009000200012
Abstract: how do people work and live today and what are the reasons that motivate doing so? this paper presents a hypothesis, using as a reference formally instituted employment, as determined by labor legislation, a modality that does not exhaust the fact that most people "live to work," regardless of the consideration that their abilities receive. it uses the idea of normality, distinguishing it from the level of the structural principals (work as an amalgam of society), from that which corresponds to legality, which in turn flows from the normalities of the lives of work. it looks at the "reasonable reasons" that people use when they make decisions about their concrete lives and work, in the context of the recent reconfigurations in the sphere of labor, highlighted by greater uncertainty and the demand for greater availability. in this situation, the interests and needs of the subject and the demands of that sphere are issues that people and families must resolve as "private issues."
Problemas de realismo y teoricismo en la investigación social y en el Trabajo Social
Grassi, Estela;
Revista Katálysis , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1414-49802007000300003
Abstract: this article analyzes the problems of social research in social work. it discusses the naive position that leads to the supposition that professional intervention is immediate 'in the reality of problems'; and that which understands that theory possesses a true knowledge 'about reality', as if this would precede all knowledge. it defines research as social practice that has as its raison d'état the production of knowledge, while it inscribes itself in and feeds the political-cultural processes of production of social problems. for this reason, for social work, research is not equivalent to social diagnosis, but should be a continuous process that accompanies the development of any social project and professional practice. this requires a willingness to learn the profession (theoretical command, methodological-technical management and a questioning attitude), and to protect against the risks of the naturalization of the problems in which it is required to intervene, which can be caused by either a naive realism or theorization.
Escritura académica a lo largo de la carrera: Un programa institucional
Moyano,Estela;
Revista signos , 2010, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-09342010000500004
Abstract: a genre-based pedagogic model for teaching literacy at tertiary level of education aims to promote students' literacy in institutional environments. from the theoretical perspective selected (systemic-functional linguistics), a genre-based pedagogy influences knowledge construction in disciplines and empowers students to engage academic, scientific and professional social activities. this paper outlines a program for teaching literacy across the second cycle of university curriculum, the negotiation between participants as a critical tool and a brief evaluation. this institutional program has been implemented with a high degree of commitment of its actors -university authorities, professors of different disciplines and language teachers.
Ense?anza de habilidades discursivas en espa?ol en contexto pre-universitario: Una aproximación desde la LSF
Moyano,Estela;
Revista signos , 2007, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-09342007000300009
Abstract: this paper outlines a theoretical and pedagogical proposal for teaching literacy in spanish l1, contextualized in a freshman course, which is obligatory for entering to the university. as well, the proposal is exemplifed by an application to two groups of students working with a genre family. this work was inspired in the educational linguistics based on sydney school?s genre and register theory developed in the frame of systemic functional linguistics. the proposal was designed as one of the activities in an action-research project. the results in terms of student?s literacy development was constructed by measuring average of progress and by qualitative observation of the texts produced in the teaching and learning processes. results show significant student?s development in the abilities taking in account. as conclusion, it?s possible to consider that the application of this pedagogical proposal and the students? engagement in the process have had incidence in the evolution of student?s literacy
Constructing victimhood in post-Franco‘s Spain: The recovery of memory by the grandchildren of victims of the civil war and dictatorship
Valverde Estela
Temida , 2012, DOI: 10.2298/tem1201077v
Abstract: Since the end of the Spanish Civil War their victims have lived in a state of repression and terror that did not allow them to claim victimhood or any restitution to the State. Furthermore, the post-Franco Amnesty Law in 1977 made a blanket statement about the issue: there were no winners or losers, no victims or perpetrators. Everything had to be forgiven and forgotten. This paper will analyze the new Spanish movement for exhumation focused on the disappeared during the Civil War and the dictatorship of Franco. The analysis will look into the judicialisation of politics; the reasons why the 2007 Law of Historical Memory that attempted to challenge amnesty has been resisted and whether this law will heal the body of Spanish society and promote social reconstruction. What could be the ultimate danger of contesting collective memory 40 years after Franco’s death in this highly stratified society?
