Adrenalectomía transperitoneal laparoscópica: experiencia inicial

Abstract: objetives: since the first published report in 1992, laparoscopic adrenalectomy has been widespread and it is now accepted as the standard treatment option in most of benign diseases of the adrenal gland. aim of the present study is to describe our initial experience with laparoscopic adrenalectomy. methods: between may 2001 and december 2005, 15 patients were submitted to laparoscopic adrenalectomy for benign diseases of the adrenal gland. we analyzed patients characteristics (sex, age, initial diagnosis), operative and perioperative results (operative time, blood loss, time to first oral intake) and complications. results: mean operative time was 143 minutes. blood loss was minimal. mean hospital stay was 90 hours. there was no need for open conversion and complication rate was low. conclusions: laparoscopic surgery of the adrenal gland is a safe and effective option which offers quality of life benefits to the patients.

Abstract: in this paper we question and discuss the relationships among human resource management, competition and training, making clear some critical aspects related to quality and the evaluation of training. finally, we analyse the articulation between training policies and citizenship, in order to question some of their hidden agendas and thus contribute to a critical sociology of training.

Abstract: in this paper i intend to place the issue of rights and justice in another way of understanding the democracy that is more deliberative and communicative. in this sense, i propose the understanding of democracy as human rights and i wonder the specificity and aim of politicity and dialogicity vectors that should characterize this type of democracy. i conclude this article by explaining the implications of this conception of democracy in education, stressing in particular the requirements of a democratic education, open to the challenges of participation and of cosmopoliticity, to the requirements of different scales of justice.

Abstract: This paper starts with a reflection about the State role and the centrality of education for social and educational change in the revolutionary times that follow the 25th April 1974; in a second moment, and from the perspective of a left movement (MES), expressed in its newspaper, the ambiguities of the democratic management of Portuguese schools are made visible. Next, the analysis focuses the autonomy concept and its centrality in this Movement discourse as well as the critiques and proposals for the organizational configuration of the democratic management model. Finally, it will be referred the students fight in the educational terrain, namely at the classroom level.

Abstract: after a succinct characterization of the current postmodern condition, some questions might be developed, because of its current relevance in the education field, they must to be reviewed in a critical way, namely, and firstly, the school, the conflict and the conviviality. secondly, this article underlines some school's characteristics that turns it into an organization with a little perversity, hypocrisy and irrationality. the last aspect to be treated is the understanding of the school as a communicative or convivial organization, in which the concepts of discipline, violence, conflict and conviviality assume a more democratic orientation.

Abstract: the purpose of the article is to provide a theoretical basis for the application of judicial proceedings (judicializa??o) in the foreign policy. the starting point is the classical conceptions of locke and montesquieu which conferred a great deal of discretion to the executive for managing foreign relations, what was gradually counterbalanced by the legislative and the judiciary. approaching the brazilian literature on the expansion of judicial power to the politics and subsequent misrepresentations, the author tries to apply the concept to the foreign policy and analyses five cases of the inter-american court of human rights.

Abstract: considering the actual context where new inequalities and new injustices emerge, i aim to articulate the process of globalisation with the construction of cosmopolitanism and social justice as i distinguish in this discussion various types of cosmopolitanism such as the neoliberal and democratic types. within the latter, i deepen the notion of cosmopoliticity in order to stress the idea of universality as well as global dialogicity and politicity. the end of this essay explains how democratic cosmopoliticity influences education and educational administration so that it contributes to a stronger global justice and the "cultivating humanity".
