Estimación de las funciones de vulnerabilidad sísmica en edificaciones en tierra

Abstract: this paper presents a model to assess seismic damage of earth buildings when a seismic action occurs; this is carried out through seismic vulnerability functions. the model relates the vulnerability index with the damage index according to a specific seism. seismic vulnerability is based on the index proposed by benedetti y petrini [1] adapted to the condition of colombian buildings. the damage index is estimated using the capacity/demand relationship. a sample of the 53 earth buildings in bucaramanga was considered in the construction of the seismic vulnerability functions. the vulnerability index and the damage index were calculated on each one of the buildings for different maximum accelerations, and then with these indexes a vulnerability functions were estimated. these functions were used to evaluation seismic damage in the city of bucaramanga.

Abstract: the aim of this paper is to develop a simple model to assess structural vulnerability of buildings at a regional scale. this model was especially made for areas where current reports on damages of buildings do not exist. the method is based on the identification of the most influential characteristics associated with damage in building under the action of the effect effects of landslides. the evaluation of these characteristics was carried out by means of the determination of fourteen (14) parameters. a vulnerability degree and an importance value based on experts' opinions were assigned to each of the 14 parameters. due to the imprecision and subjectivity of the opinions, data was processed by means of fuzzy logic techniques. once each one of the parameters was qualified, the qualifications of the parameters were related to their value of importance by means of a fuzzy factorial. the result of this relationship, according to techniques based on fuzzy set, is the building vulnerability index.

Abstract: En este trabajo se presenta una metodología para definir el da o producido por un sismo de aceleración pico efectiva de dise o, Aa, igual a 0.02 g y 0.05 g en edificaciones en tierra apisonada (tapia) o adobe, por medio de la generación de funciones de vulnerabilidad. La metodología propuesta consiste en relacionar un índice de vulnerabilidad con un índice de da o en función de un evento sísmico determinado. El modelo de índice de vulnerabilidad se basó en el que propusieron por Benedetti y Petrini [1], adaptado a las características de las edificaciones colombianas, y el índice de da o fue determinado mediante una relación demanda-capacidad. La construcción de las funciones requirió contar con una muestra de 53 edificaciones existentes en la ciudad de Bucaramanga. A cada uno de los edificios se le calculó su índice de vulnerabilidad y su índice de da o para diferentes aceleraciones máximas, y con ellos se construyeron las funciones de vulnerabilidad. Las funciones definidas en esta investigación fueron aplicadas en las edificaciones de la ciudad de Bucaramanga.

Abstract: En este trabajo se presenta un modelo rápido y sencillo de evaluación de la vulnerabilidad estructural de edificaciones a escala regional. El modelo fue construido de forma que puede ser aplicado especialmente a zonas donde no se cuenta con información de da os reales. El método se basa en la identificación de las características más relevantes e influyentes en el da o que sufrirá una edificación bajo la acción de un efecto de remoción en masa. La valoración de estas características se realizó mediante la determinación de catorce (14) parámetros, a los cuales se les asignó un grado de vulnerabilidad y un valor de importancia relativa con base en la opinión de expertos. Debido a las imprecisiones y subjetividad de las opiniones, estas fueron procesadas mediante técnicas de lógica difusa. Una vez calificados cada uno de los parámetros, se procedió a relacionar sus calificaciones con su valor de importancia por medio de un factorial difuso. El resultado de esta relación por medio de técnicas basadas en conjuntos difusos corresponde al índice de vulnerabilidad. Simulación de funciones de vulnerabilidad y matrices de probabilidad de da?o sísmico para edificaciones de hormigón armado en sistema pórtico

Abstract: this paper outlines vulnerability functions and seismic damage probability matrixes being constructed for reinforced concrete frame buildings. these functions and matrixes were based on simulation techniques and experts? opinion. the proposed functions and matrixes relate a building?s vulnerability to the level of damage which might be incurred, depending on an earthquake?s motion. vulnerability was defined by estimating an index proposed by expert opinion. damage was defined by means of a damage index depending on nonlinear static analysis. simulation techniques were used for constructing hypothetical buildings and thereby to building the functions and matrixes. such buildings represented the typical characteristics of colombian cities? reinforced concrete frame system ( bucaramanga for example). a set of tools was made for constructing and applying these functions and matrixes, allowing us to determine the level of seismic damage by using the buildings? characteristics for specific seismic action.

Abstract: the evaluation of seismic vulnerability of masonry buildings in colombian cities is a pressing need, as it is one of the most predominant structural systems. day to day, the post earthquake attention programs force us to consider a good planning of the elements involved in the development of the cities. the housing buildings are an important aspect into consideration, and among them, the masonry building are elements of major priority. there are different methodologies for its evaluation but many of these have been built based on records of observed damages and analytic models both are complex, making its application only to the place were built. therefore, is it important to propose models adjustable to colombian conditions and for doing this, it is necessary to identify the parameters which influence the most in the vulnerability of masonry structures of our cities. the aim of this paper is to present the identification and assessment of these parameters. this study was based on the opinion of experts. finally, it is presented the model that allows the correlation between vulnerability degrees of each one of the parameters with its value of importance; this correlation leads to calculate the seismic vulnerability.

Abstract: a methodology to define the damage resulting from a given seismic level in masonry buildings using simulated vulnerability functions is presented in this work. the proposed methodology consists in utilizing a vulnerability index correlating it to a damage index in function of a given seismic event. the vulnerability index model corresponds to the model reported formerly by maldonado et al., 2007. the damage index was determined by a demand/capacity ratio, evaluating the stress using the abrams? model. the function design process required the utilization of a wide sample of buildings. simulation techniques allowed the running of simulation in 6000 hypothetical buildings. for each hypothetical building its vulnerability index and its damage index was calculated for different maximum acceleration values, ranging from 0,05 g to 0,25 g. probability of seismic damage vulnerability and matrix functions were constructed with these data for each of these acceleration values. thus, the functions and matrixes of damage probability contributed to understand the damage that masonry buildings might endure in a given value of maximum acceleration in function of its vulnerability estimate. the functions defined in this study were utilized in the assessment of damages produced by a seism of a given level in buildings located at a sector of the metropolitan area of bucaramanga at the municipality of floridablanca.

Abstract: this document contains a methodology to assess the level of damage that buildings with reinforced concrete wall structural system may reach. the model estimates a vulnerability rate calculated in function of structure characteristics that most influent a seismic behaviour, and relates this value to a damage rate, which, in turn, depends on the action of seismic movements. the model estimates different levels of vulnerability and, consequently, defines different damages produced the same action. the vulnerability / damage ratio is materialized to vulnerability function in a continuous manner. the model was constructed on a sample of real and hypothetical buildings representing the most relevant characteristics of this type of buildings in colombia.

Abstract: since their appearance in 1994, extradosed bridges have played an important role in road and railway projects, competing (in médium span lengths) with cables-stayed and prestressed box girder bridges. at a regional level, extradosed bridges have been implemented more frequently in asia, but recent projects developed in europe and america show a growing interest in this typology consequently, this paper is aimed at offering a survey viewpoint on the evolution of extradosed bridges, from their origin to their current applications. this paper is also intended to show the adopted structural trends by presenting existing extradosed bridges, bridges under construction, and newly designed bridges. finally, the main advantages and disadvantages of this type of bridges are analyzed and compared to cable-stayed and prestressed box girder bridges.
