Indicadores sintéticos de calidad ambiental: un modelo general para grandes zonas urbanas
Escobar,Luis;
EURE (Santiago) , 2006, DOI: 10.4067/S0250-71612006000200005
Abstract: this paper defines the index of environmental quality (ica) as a latent variable determined by a group of factor that affects it in a positive and negative manner. setting off from the hypothesis of non environmental homogenous pertaining to urban territory, and following the construction of a system of simple indicators and its application in larges city. the most influential factors in the determination of the ica by each comuna are established as well. consequently, important information is derived, which will enable the planner and environmental agent to prioritize the assignation of economic resources, not only in a differential way among comunas but for the sort of resources or environmental variables that most affect the quality of environment
La Doble Ciudadanía y la Participación Política: Inmigrantes en la Interacción de la Política de Estados Unidos y Colombia
Escobar,Cristina;
Análisis Político , 2005,
Abstract: colombian migrants have naturalized in great numbers following the enactment of colombian dual citizenship legislation in 1990 and the us immigration reforms of 1990s. contrary to fears that dual citizenship is detrimental to political engagement and a threat to us democracy, the writer argues that the maintenance of formal ties to their home-country does not result in migrant"s political disengagement from their country of residence. rather, transnational migrant organizations have played a critical role as agents of political engagement. colombian dual citizenship has also facilitated migrant"s decision to nationalize in order to prevent the loss of privileges that the us has restricted to those holding citizen status. contrary to fears that this "instrumental" use of naturalization poses a danger to the nation, the article argues that this motive for naturalization does not necessarily exclude migrant"s interest in political participation and can, instead, be considered an opportunity for inclusion.
Terapia de bioestimulación con plasma rico en plaquetas para el envejecimiento cutáneo
Escobar,HM;
Revista argentina de dermatolog?-a , 2012,
Abstract: biostimulation with rich plasma in platelets is an outpatient technique for the prevention and management of skin aging, which is based on the physiology of the skin, and works very well alone or in a combined treatment plan. own patient derivate blood stimulates production of collagen, elastin and skin tissue, resulting in a smoother skin, brighter and better quality. risks of bruising, infection, disease transmission or allergic reactions are minimal.
Una minga para el posdesarrollo
ESCOBAR,ARTURO;
Signo y Pensamiento , 2011,
Abstract: this article summarizes some of the conclusions to which different social and academic movements have arrived over the last two decades on the issue of globalization and its implications; the mainstream model, based on the notions of "development" and "modernity", has come to a head. therefore, it is necessary to move forward in a cultural transition which we can understand as a change of era rather than a period of changes. in order to carry out this transformation we must first unravel the contradictions nowadays present between neo-developmentism and post-development, and to do so, of course, for the benefit of the latter.
Respuestas de observación y resistencia a la extinción
Escobar, Rogelio;
Revista mexicana de análisis de la conducta , 2011, DOI: 10.5514/rmac.v37.i2.26139
Abstract: the resistance to extinction of observing behavior was determined by removing the primary reinforcer and presenting only a stimulus associated with reinforcement (s+), only a stimulus associated with extinction (s-), and only a neutral stimulus. in three training conditions of 30 sessions each, lever pressing by rats was reinforced on a mixed random ratio 50 extinction. each press on a second lever (observing) produced for 5 s an s+ during the reinforcement component and an s- during extinction. after each training condition, rats were exposed to 10 sessions of extinction in which the mixed schedule was discontinued. in each of the three successive extinction conditions, each press on the observing lever produced only the s+, only the s-, or only the neutral stimulus. the order of exposure was different for each rat. presenting the s+ increased and presenting the s- decreased resistance to extinction relative to the neutral stimulus. these findings suggest that the concept of conditioned reinforcement is still a necessary one in behavior analysis.
Bienvenidos a Cyberia: Notas para una Antropología de la cibercultura
Escobar,Arturo;
Revista de Estudios Sociales , 2005,
Abstract: significant changes in the nature of social life are being brought about by computer, information, and biological technologies, to the extent that-some argue-a new cultural order, ?cyberculture?, is coming into being. this paper presents an overview of the types of anthropological analyses that are being conducted in the area of new technologies and suggests additional steps for the articulation of an anthropology of cyberculture. it builds upon science, technology, and society studies in various fields and on critical studies of modernity. the implications of technoscience for both anthropological theory and ethnographic research are explored.
Electrostatic models of charged hydrogenic chains in a strong magnetic field
Escobar, A.;
Revista mexicana de física , 2011,
Abstract: simple one-dimensional electrostatic models of one-(two) electron molecular systems and h2, in a strong magnetic field are proposed to estimate the binding-(ionization) energy of the corresponding ground states. the study is carried out in the range of mag netic fieds b = 102 - 106 a.u. the models are inspired (and based) on the quasi one-dimensional form of the ground state electronic distribution function which is obtained by precise variational calculations in the born-oppenheimer approximation in a non-relativistic framework. it is shown that the models give, for all magnetic fields considered, a very good description of the binding-(ionization) energy of the one-electron molecular systems , being accurate in 2.5%, 5% and 5% respectively, and 15% for the two-electron systems (30% for h2) as compared with the corresponding variational calculations.
El uso de la teoría de la desorganización social para comprender la distribución de homicidios en Bogotá, Colombia
Escobar,Gipsy;
Revista INVI , 2012, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-83582012000100002
Abstract: the social disorganization tradition has found community disadvantage to be one of the strongest and most consistent macro-level predictors of homicides in urban areas in the united states. however, research conducted in urban areas of latin america suggests that the effects of disadvantage and disorganization on homicides may be different in that region. this study assesses the spatial effects of community disadvantage and the ability of communities to secure external resources (i.e. public control) on neighborhood homicide rates in bogota, colombia using spatial data analysis. data from several sources including official homicide figures, 2005 census, and interviews were used. results provide partial support for social disorganization theory: concentrated disadvantage/social isolation, and social disorder seem to predict higher homicide rates, while the availability of basic public services (a proxy for public control) has a negative effect on the dependent variable. unexpected results were observed: the presence of agencies of social control (i.e. police and conflict resolution) predict higher, while the proportion of young males and population density predict lower homicide rates. the presence of other criminal structures (e.g., gangs, militias, drugs and arms trafficking) and people displaced by the conflict were not significant. implications for theory and policy are discussed.
