The objective of this study was to evaluate the levels of inclusion of babassu coconut (0, 4, 8 and 12%) in diets for broiler chickens from 1 to 21 days old. 200 Hubbard chicks were distributed in a completely randomized design with four treatments and five replications, being each experimental unit composed of 10 birds. The treatments consisted in experimental diets containing increasing levels of inclusion of babassu coconut (0, 4, 8 and 12%), formulated to contain the same nutritional level. The performance of variables evaluated were feed intake, weight gain and feed conversion. The apparent metabolizable energy, diary retention of gross energy, dry matter and nitrogen of experimental diets was determined by total collection of excreta for three consecutive days, which are analyzed together with the feed for dry matter, gross energy and nitrogen contents. The inclusion of the babassu not affected any of the evaluated variables. Likewise, there was no effect of inclusion levels of babassu coconut on the apparent metabolizable energy and the diary of retention of gross energy. On this basis, the babassu coconut can be used as an ingredient in diets of broilers from 1 to 21 days until the level of 12%.
Da experiência estético-teleológica da natureza à consciência ecológica: uma leitura da Crítica do Juízo de Kant
Santos, Leonel Ribeiro dos;
Trans/Form/A??o , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-31732006000100001
Abstract: the aim of this paper is to suggest how the kantian conception of aesthetic experience of nature can illuminate some demands posed by the actual ecological consciousness. main topics of our exposition would be the reversible analogy kant supposes between art and nature, the kantian concept of a "technic of nature", the recognised priority of aesthetic experience of natural beauty within kantian aesthetics and the function that she plays in the whole architectonics of the critique of judgment, namely making possible the transition from aesthetic judgment of nature to the teleological appreciation and representation of nature as artist and as a great system of ends.
A concep??o Kantiana da experiência estética: novidades, tens?es e equilíbrios
Santos, Leonel Ribeiro dos;
Trans/Form/A??o , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-31732010000200004
Abstract: the aim of this essay is to identify some peculiar aspects of kant's treatment of aesthetic sentiment, showing his tensions and balances and also his fecundity to the actual philosophical debate concerning aesthetic problems. i try to demonstrate that kant's meditation represents a singular moment of instable equilibrium between two different paradigms of aesthetic thought: one, that turns on the category of taste (geschmack), understood as an aesthetic common sense that invokes a social and communitarian preoccupation, the other, that turns on the category of genius (genie) and assumes the presupposition of the absolute character of the individual subjectivity as source of creativity; one, that rehabilitate the human sensibility (sinnlichkeit) and the sensible qualities of objects as contemplated or appreciated by the subject, the other, based on the idea of inner sentiment (gefühl), considered as something inalienable and as the absolutely subjective dimension of individual experience.

American Journal of Plant Sciences (AJPS) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ajps.2013.47A1007
Abstract:

This study aimed to observe the viability of the pollen grains of Malpighia emarginata DC. (West Indian cherry) and the action of a lectin in their germination. Lectins are proteins that specifically interact with carbohydrates, but don’t modify them and bind with high affinity and specificity, promoting a transfer of information that is clearly central to many cellular processes in living beings. For the viability test was used aniline blue in lactophenol. The in vitro germination test used was the hanging drop method, in control medium containing sucrose, boric acid, calcium nitrate and agar. The experiment dealt with three different treatments in order to pollen germination: growing medium without addition of lectin, with 1.0 μg/ml and with 3.0 μg/ml CPL lectin. This lectin is extracted from seeds of Crotalaria pallida L.-Leguminosae. Data on pollen grains were analyzed by one-way ANOVA, with 95% reliability and comparison of averages by Turkey test at 5% probability. It was found that despite previous high viability of the pollen grains (c. 70%), a germinability rate has been low, yet exceptionally larger in pollen samples placed on a growing medium with addition of 3.0 μg/ml of CPL lectin (24%). There was no significant difference among the pollen grains germinate in medium without lectin and those in medium with the addition of only 1.0 μg/ml. According to data obtained in the treatments, CPL lectin, with concentration of 3.0 μg/ml, influenced the formation of the pollen tube and thus more pollen germinated in Malpighia emarginata.

Domesticidade e identidades de gênero na revista Casa & Jardim (anos 1950 e 60)
Santos, Marinês Ribeiro dos;
Cadernos Pagu , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-83332011000100010
Abstract: in this paper, starting from the entwinement between gender identity models and the domesticity discourse present in the brazilian popular magazine casa & jardim, i discuss the role of representations in the constitution of human subjectivities. representations influence us as discursive practices by the establishment of norms, standards, and values, which mediate our understanding of the world and guide our conduct within the social milieu. the representations of femininity in casa & jardim, disguised as reflections of a supposed feminine "nature", are indeed patterns of subjectivities prescribed by its authors and editors to their women readers.
