Urology Journal , 2012,
Abstract: PURPOSE: To investigate the relationship between serum level of YKL-40 and Gleason score, grade and stage of the disease, and for the first time, with tumor burden in patients with prostate cancer (PCa). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Serum levels of YKL-40 and prostate-specific antigen were measured in 34 men (mean age: 66 years) with newly diagnosed and untreated PCa, in 34 men (mean age: 65 years) with biopsy proven benign prostatic hyperplasia, and in 29 healthy young men (mean age: 24 years). RESULTS: Serum YKL-40 concentration in men with PCa and benign prostatic hyperplasia, and in controls were 165.67 ± 107.84 ng/mL, 137.38 ± 82.04 ng/mL, and 69.69 ± 18.46 ng/mL, respectively. Serum level of YKL-40 was correlated with tumor burden in 30.4% of the patients with PCa (P = .04). A cut-off serum YKL-40 value of 92.696 ng/mL produced 70.6% sensitivity and 93.1% specificity. Elevated serum level of YKL-40 was strongly associated only with metastatic stage of the PCa. No association was observed between elevated level of YKL-40 and Gleason score groups or Gleason grade. CONCLUSION: Our results suggest that elevated serum level of YKL-40 may be a useful indicator of tumor burden and metastatic stage of PCa. Further studies are warranted to better elucidate the meaning of YKL-40 in tumor burden and invasiveness.

One of the areas where these inventions and discoveries were carried out was Geology the science of the Earth. Al-Raz (606/1210) who discussed this subject in his commentary, translates the verses about the Earth with the help of the scientific knowledges of his age in a detailed way. Therefore, some of his explanations may be the opposite of the facts of modern Geology from time to time. . ( ) . (606/1210) .

Abstract: Introduction: Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a significant complication and is poor prognostic factor for sarcoidosis. We evaluated various tests of diagnosis and treatment as well as the associations between PH and value of six-minute walk test (6 MWT) in sarcoidosis patients. Methods: This study was conducted with fifty patients with sarcoidosis. We grouped patients according to echocardiography. Results: PH prevalence in sarcoidosis was found to be 10%. In cases with likely PH, FEV1%, FVC%, MMF% was found to be lower. Although DLCO was less than 80% in the group of likely PH and over 80% in the other, there were no statistical differences between two groups. Mean value of FVC/DLCO ratio was 1.1 ± 0.38 in group of likely PH. There was no significant difference between groups. Mean distance of 6 MWT was 464 ± 105 m in all cases. There were no statistical differences between two groups in 6 MWT. Significant desaturation with exercise was observed in cases with PH (p = 0.007). Conclusion: In all stages, patients who have longer disease duration and abnormal pulmonary function tests, should be examined about PH. Patients should undergo 6 MWT and presence of desaturation after 6 MWT, even without hypoxemia, should be looked after and dealt with accordingly.
Biomarkers for noninvasive biochemical diagnosis of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis: Tools or decorations?
Yusuf Yilmaz, Enver Dolar
World Journal of Gastroenterology , 2009,
Abstract: In light of the growing epidemics of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), identification and validation of the novel biochemical surrogate markers for nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) are paramount to reduce the necessity for liver biopsy. The availability of such markers has tremendous potential to radically alter the management strategies of NAFLD patients and to monitor the disease activity. Although current biomarkers do not entirely fulfill the many requirements for the identification of patients with NASH, they should not discourage our quest, but remind us that we need to cognize the challenges ahead.

World Journal of Gastroenterology , 2010,
Abstract: We read with great interest the article by Tang et al published in issue 4 of World Journal of Gastroenterology 2010. The results of their study indicate that percutaneous catheter drainage in combination with choledochoscope-guided debridement is a simple, safe and reliable treatment procedure for peripancreatic infections secondary to severe acute pancreatitis. However, there are some points that need to be addressed, including data about the patients in the study and their clinical characteristics, data about infection and superinfection during the treatment and type of treatment of patients with acute necrotizing pancreatitis.

Abstract: Critical thinking and creativity are becoming the standards of the 21st century people. Despite the use of the products ofscience and technology and the facilities for consumers, the fact that individuals should think and generate ideas while using thetechno-scientific outputs is a necessity not only in terms of socio-economy but also in terms of settling social problems. Allmembers of a developing society must be closely connected with production process as well as consumption process. (Akp nar,1999:148). Today, reaching, valuing, organizing, using and sharing information have been of capital importance. Considering all ofthose, it can be stated that using all kinds of equipments which will enable individuals to reach, use and spread information will bea must. It can be also suggested that information technologies are compulsive powers for culture and economy (Karahan ve zci,2001). In our day, information is a byword for “power”. The power of the information rises to the surface especially in times ofchaos and change. The role of information technologies in effectively forming, transmitting, developing and sharing process ofinformation is indisputable. Thus, this manifests the indispensable and critical importance of information technologies for allcountries. (Halawi vd., 2006). High quality national education, advanced scientific fields and activities, producing and transforminghigh technology are needed to be able to accommodate information age. (Kutlu, 2000; Meder, 2001). Arranging learningenvironments according to the conditions and expectations by reconsidering the needs of students and society is essential. It isneeded to provide all facilities which will enable students to reach, use, produce and improve information to prepare suchenvironment. (Akkoyunlu, 2002). Members of a profession need to improve themselves continuously and accommodate changesand developments for the continuity of success in professional life. Reaching information sources is important in this process.Internet has become the most important way of reaching those sources most effectively. ( zen vd., 2004). Required knowledgeand experience which students need to have, who receive education at VHS (Vocational High Schools) which satisfy intermediatemember need by training technicians for industry, are becoming very important for their professional life. This background alsoaffects the industry directly. Understanding how and for which purposes students use internet, which enable them to followprofessional and general developments, is a finding which can be considered in educatio

Abstract: Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) is a technics of management schudeling and control which is use for minimize thestock envestismans, to increase production and activity and to develop the service for buyer. Manufacturing Resource Planning(MRP II) is a informatics system which is use for planning of production activities at the long and middle period. In this study, effects of Material Requirement Planning and Manufacturing Resource Planning on the control activities were examined. In thestudies, it is aimed that designation technological structure of the companies, establishing the rivalry force and designation effectson the companies. For this aim, researchs were carried out on the companies that have MRP or MRP II, continual productionand especially have a assembly line. Total 93 companies that in the Ankara region and different industry areas have been added inthis study. In this study, a questionnaire that existenced 39 questions have been applicated about general informations, companyproperties, structure of the organization, general management and production management. The results which have been obtainedthe questionnaire have been transferred SPSS 15 Software. The results have been commented on the outcome of the SPSSprogramme. While the production activities have been maintained at present industry, date of production and deliveries, cost ofproduction, defining the capasity of production, commodity procurement and acquiring quality are quite important. On accountof this, enterprises have to make production planning before commencing the production for achieving analysis of when, bywhom, where, in which way, on which products, in which duration and steps the production will be implemented. All theactivities of enterprise functions start with what their obectives are and how to attain them. However, this is the beginning ofplanning process; so production acivities start with production planning initially as production is an enterprise function.Production planning should be defined as planning activity of optimal quantity usage of resources for preset requirements ofproduction. The plans which purvey production requirements to attain enterprise’s objectives are production plannings. All of theproduction activities that will be implemented in enterprise are realized according to production plans. Production plans leadmanagers and employees who are dealing with production activities. The importance of production planning has improved rapidly in parallel with the improvement of production systems.
