Abstract: adhesion molecules are functional receptors that appear in the cellular membrane and have an active participation in multiple physiological and pathological phenomena, such as the organization of animal cells during the embrionary development by their differentiation, migration and localization in organs and tissues; the hemostasis phenomena as the platelet aggregation and the formation of thrombi; tissular repair and wound healing; and the tumoral dissemination or metastasis. they also play an important role in the migration and activation of leukocyte sin immunosurveillance, and in the development of the inflammatory response and of the mechanisms that take part in the cellular immune response. the fundamental characteristic of these receptors is the capacity to transduce signals to the interior of the cell and to modulate cascades of signals induced by different growth factors. the knowledge of the regulation of their expression, their state of activation on the cell surface, the cellular and tissular distribution and their possible interactions, are of vital significance to understand the action mechanisms involved in the functioning of the cells participating in the immunological defense, in the physiopathogeny of different diseases and in the development of new therapeutic strategies. therefore, the study of the behavior of these molecules in the course of different diseases is a very topical working line at present and it is also of great interest in the field of immunology and in medical practice

Abstract: Las moléculas de adhesión son receptores funcionales que se expresan en la membrana celular y participan activamente en múltiples fenómenos fisiológicos y patológicos, como son: la organización de las células animales durante el desarrollo embrionario mediante su diferenciación, migración y localización en órganos y tejidos; en los fenómenos de la hemostasia, como la agregación plaquetaria y la formación de trombos; en la reparación tisular y la cicatrización de las heridas; en la diseminación tumoral o metástasis, y desempe an un papel fundamental en la migración y activación de los leucocitos en la inmunovigilancia, en el desarrollo de la respuesta inflamatoria y de los mecanismos que intervienen en la respuesta inmune celular. La característica fundamental de estos receptores es la capacidad de transducir se ales al interior de la célula y modular cascadas de se ales inducidas por diferentes factores de crecimiento. Abstract: cd5 and cd6 molecules have a co-stimulant function and show homology in structure. we assessed cd6 molecule expression using anti-cd6 (t1) monoclonal antibody in the cellular immunophenotyping from patients presenting b chronic lymphoid leukemia, and it was compared to cd5 molecule expression. results show a homology in phenotype expression of both molecules (cd5 and cd6), what associated with the fact that both lymphocyte receptors are physically linked, allow to suggest that cd6 molecule is a interesting biological marker in prognosis assessment, and the possibility of new therapeutic variants in this disease.

Abstract: even though the debate about the relation between journalism and advertising has been a permanent cause of conflicts and tensions in the mass media, academia has rarely focused on it as a subject. this paper is an attempt to establish the proper scope in which journalism and advertising operate, the challenges which the fusion of both disciplines' frames imply, the role of the institutions in charge of supervising their right ethical functioning, and their current restrictions, which would require new abilities and analysis mindsets.

Abstract: La discusión sobre la relación entre periodismo y publicidad, a pesar de constituir un permanente foco de conflictos y tensiones en los medios de comunicación, ha sido escasamente abordada desde la academia. Esto ha restado profundidad al debate sobre los medios de comunicación y la libertad de expresión. A través de este artículo, se intenta una aproximación al campo de acción propio del periodismo y la publicidad, los desafíos que presentan los procesos de hibridación de formatos entre ambas disciplinas, el papel de los órganos encargados de velar por su correcto funcionamiento ético y sus actuales limitaciones, las cuales demandarían nuevas competencias y perspectivas de análisis. Generalized compactness for finite perimeter sets and applications to the isoperimetric problem

Abstract: For a complete noncompact connected Riemannian manifold with bounded geometry, we prove a compactness result for sequences of finite perimeter sets with uniformly bounded volume and perimeter in a larger space obtained by adding limit manifolds at infinity. We extends previous results contained in [Nar14a], in such a way that the generalized existence theorem, Theorem 1 of [Nar14a] is actually a generalized compactness theorem. The suitable modifications to the arguments and statements of the results in [Nar14a] are non-trivial. As a consequence we give a multipointed version of Theorem 1.1 of [LW11], and a simple proof of the continuity of the isoperimetric profile function.

Abstract: Se estudió la respuesta inmune celular en 14 enfermos con leishmaniasis cutánea atípica (LCA), variante clínica reportada en Centroamérica, en particular en Honduras y Costa Rica en este a o, en 16 enfermos con leishmaniasis cutánea localizada (LCL) y en 32 donantes de sangre en el Laboratorio de Inmunología del Centro Nacional de Diagnóstico y Referencia (CNDR) del MINSA, Managua, Nicaragua. Se estudió la cuantificación de los linfocitos T totales (CD3) y las subpoblaciones linfocitarias (CD4 y CD8) con anticuerpos monoclonales específicos por inmunofluorescencia indirecta. No se observaron diferencias significativas entre los valores de CD3 y CD4 entre los enfermos con LCA y los controles normales; sin embargo, sí un incremento significativo de las células CD8. Por otra parte, se observó una disminución significativa de los niveles de linfocitos CD3 y CD4 en los enfermos con LCL, no así de los niveles de CD8, en relación con los controles normales. Se observaron diferencias significativas de los niveles de las células CD3, CD4 y CD8 entre ambas formas clínicas de la enfermedad LCL y LCA. Se discute la importancia de la inmunodepresión de las células CD4 en la LCL y el posible comportamiento diferente de las células T en la LCA, con niveles normales de las células CD4 e incremento de la subpoblación citotóxica en una nueva variante clínica menos agresiva de la enfermedad The cellular immune response was studied in 14 patients with atypic cutaneous leishmaniasis (ACL), a clinical variant reported in Central America, and particularly in Honduras and Costa Rica, during this year, in 16 patients suffering from localized cutaneous leishmaniasis (LCL); and in 32 blood donors at the Immunology Laboratory of the National Diagnosis and Reference Laboratory (NDRL) of the Ministry of Health, in Managua, Nicaragua. The quantitation of total T lymphocytes (CD3) and the lymphocyte subsets (CD4 and CD8) with specific monoclonal antibodies were studied by indirect immunofluorescence. No significant differences were observed between the values of CD3 and CD4 in patients with ACL and normal controls. However, there was a marked increase of CD8 cells. On the other hand, it was found an important decrease of the levels of CD3 and CD4 lymphocytes in patients with CLL, but not of the levels of CD8, in relation to normal controls. Significant differences of the levels of CD3, CD4 and CD8 cells were observed between both clinical forms of the disease.
