The Relationship Between Serum Atrial Natriuretic Peptide Levels and Pain in Migraine Patients
N?ropsikiyatri Ar?ivi , 2012,
Abstract: Background: Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) is a natriuretic, diuretic and vasoactive peptide hormone which synthesized by cardiac atria and released to plasma. Studies investigating the role of ANP in the physiopathology of migraine have risen. The increase of ANP in the cerebral cortex is suggested to be a defense and a neuroprotective mechanism that occurs against the ischemic damage that may arise from vasoconstriction forming during the aura stage of migraine. The aim of this study is to determine the serum ANP levels in patient with migraine during initial, aura and attack periods and compare with healthy controls and investigate the relationship between serum ANP level and migraine pain. Methods: A total of 15 patients (10 female, 5 male; age range: 17-61), who were diagnosed with migraine with aura, and an equal number of age- and gender matched patients with migraine without aura according to the International Classification of Headache Disorders, 2nd edition (ICHD-2), and 15 healthy volunteers with the same demographic characteristics were randomly enrolled in the study. Blood samples were taken from patients with migraine with aura three times; at baseline, during an attack and during aura, whereas from patients with migraine without aura twice; at baseline and during an attack, and, once from healthy subjects. All blood samples were analyzed in the biochemistry laboratory, Yedikule Pulmonary Diseases Hospital using a cardiac reader and, ANP levels were calculated. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 15.0 for Windows. Data were analyzed using the student’s t-test, Kruskal-Wallis test, Spearman’s correlation coefficient and the Mann-Whitney U test. Results: Initial serum ANP levels in patients with migraine with aura were statistically significantly lower than in controls. On the other hand, initial ANP levels in patients with migraine without aura were higher than in the control subjects. When the patients were compared, it was seen that the ANP levels in non-aura subjects were statistically significantly higher than in aura subjects. Discussion: It is determined that in patients with migraine with aura, serum ANP level highly increases in the aura/attack stage compared to the initial stage, and this increase is marked in the aura stage. Abstract: The study sets out to find out the level of job burnout and job involvement and examines the relation between the sub-dimensions of job burnout and job involvement. Maslach burnout inventory was used to measure the level of job burnout. To find out the level of job involvement for the practitioners of accountancy “job involvement scale” by Kanungo (1982) was employed. Opinions of the participants for each statement for job involvement and job burnout were analyzed through frequency, percentage, arithmetic average and standard deviation. The relation between job involvement and job burnout for the practitioners of accountancy was determined using Pearson correlation coefficient. The results suggest that there is a negative-direction relation between job involvement and job burnout of the practitioners of accountancy.

It is a fact that performing endoscopy using conventional methods requires substantial time and development of alternative diagnostic modalities. Replacement of rigid endoscopes with flexible and digital devices in time, faster performance of the procedures and reduced time for them to turn back to work brought about the expectancy. It was possible that easier and more reliable methods could exist. Idea of capsule endoscopy was born following examination of the gastrointestinal tract with an endoscope with shape of a capsule. Although idea of capsule endoscopy was suggested long years ago, it fell behind the advances in conventional step of the endoscopy, especially developmental speed of the flexible devices. Furthermore, three-dimensional (3D) organ views can be processed digitally by means of sophisticated software in the fields of computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Thus, virtual cystoscopy of high resolution and specificity is possible by means of both methods. Wireless capsule endoscopy is still in the experimental stage. “Steerable independent intracorporeal endoscope” with feature of consecutive instillation in addition to its diagnostic utility is not a dream.

Abstract: Matrix methods, now-a-days, are playing an important role in solving the real life problems governed by ODEs and/or by PDEs. Many differential models of sciences and engineers for which the existing methodologies do not give reliable results, these methods are solving them competitively. In this work, a matrix methods is presented for approximate solution of the second-order singularly-perturbed delay differential equations. The main characteristic of this technique is that it reduces these problems to those of solving a system of algebraic equations, thus greatly simplifying the problem. The error analysis and convergence for the proposed method is introduced. Finally some experiments and their numerical solutions are given.
Effects of Source and Rate of Nitrogen Fertilizer on Yield, Yield Components and Quality of Winter Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.)
Chilean journal of agricultural research , 2010, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-58392010000100014
Abstract: winter rapeseed (brassica napus l.) has potential to become an alternate oilseed crop both for edible oil production and energy agriculture (biofuel production) for turkey. this study was conducted to determine the effect of year, n sources and doses on the yield and quality traits of winter rapeseed in a cereal system in calcareous soils over two seasons, 2000-2001 and 2001-2002, in central anatolia. three n sources, ammonium sulfate, ammonium nitrate and urea, were applied as hand broadcast on the soil surface at five doses (0, 50, 100, 150, and 200 kg n ha-1). the traits investigated were plant height, number of branches and pods per plant, number of seed per pod, thousand seed weight, seed yield, oil and protein content. there were significantly effects on seed yield, oil and protein content, and other yield components due to n sources and rates. in general, ammonium sulfate and urea gave higher seed yield than ammonium nitrate. mean values of both seasons indicated that 100 and 150 kg n ha-1 rate increased significantly yield and quality traits with regard to other n treatments. the present results highlight the practical importance of adequate n fertilization and true n source in seed yield in winter rapeseed and suggest that ammonium sulfate at 150 kg n ha-1 will be about adequate to meet crop n requirements.

Abstract: In recent years, the curriculum programs have been changed dramatically in Turkey, as part of a comprehensive reform initiative. The history curriculum for secondary schools was subjected to this transformation as well. This study examines the curriculum reform in terms of teacher autonomy, a key-concept for the comprehension and improvement of the teachers’ role in education. The study aims to analyze whether the change in the curriculum has brought any significant innovation regarding the teacher autonomy. According to study’s findings, the new history curriculum fails to construct a new framework that is able to provide to teachers a broad sphere of power and autonomy which could allow and encourage them to assume a greater role in the curriculum planning and implementation. This situation is evidently in contradiction with the main reform’s goals such as the development of student-centered teaching methods focusing on the needs, interests and demands of the students and considering their diversities.
