Abstract: the quality assessment of information resources available in internet is a great concern for users. a review was carried out, aim at identifying the most used criteria to assess quality of web retrieval documents and its sites of references with the assistance of the well known search engines: google, yahoo, altavista, in medline and dois databases and specialized journals. the information quality from the health sites available in intenet is diverse, varying from excellent to very poor, due to publication freedom and also the lack of review process. in spite of the diversity of patterns and guides developed for the assessment, the caywood, ciolek, smith, tilman, and grassian criteria, pioneers in this field, presented the highest citation indexes among the most actual researches. although the authors are not agree with the principles and criteria to be used, the identification of common elements in their proposals is possible. most of the sites did not fulfill the minimal quality patterns. the development of abilities for searching and quality assessment, is needed. without a previous assessment, a site or a web retrieved document could be never considered as an information resource for a scientific research.

ISRN Pharmacology , 2013, DOI: 10.1155/2013/713060
Abstract: We examined the effects of a chloroform extract of Hyptis albida (CHA) on inflammatory responses in mouse lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced peritoneal macrophages. Our findings indicate that CHA inhibits LPS-induced production of tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6). During the process, levels of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and nitric oxide (NO) increased in the mouse peritoneal macrophages; however, the extract suppressed them significantly. These results provide novel insights into the anti-inflammatory actions of CHA and support its potential use in the treatment of inflammatory diseases. 1. Introduction Inflammation is an immediate response to many injuries produced by pathogens, noxious stimuli such as chemicals, or physical injury. Inflammation involves the activation and recruitment of phagocytes (macrophages, neutrophils), NK cells, the complement system, and the secretion of cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α by activated cells that are essential for the host defense system. Inflammatory disorders are treated using conventional anti-inflammatory drugs such as steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) [1]. However, their prolonged use may produce adverse effects [2]. Thus, it is important to develop new anti-inflammatory agents with fewer adverse effects. Natural products can be a source of active metabolites that can serve as an alternate approach to anti-inflammatory drugs [3]. The genus Hyptis consists of approximately 400 species distributed from Southern United States to Argentina [4]. Plants in this genus have great economical and ethnopharmacological importance [5]. They have been used in folk medicine for the treatment of various disorders such as gastrointestinal disorders, skin infections, nasal congestion, fever, cramps, inflammation, and pain [5–8]. The genus Hyptis has many species that are important in Mexican folk medicine. In particular, Hyptis albida is commonly used in remedies for the treatment of gastrointestinal disturbances, skin infections, rheumatism, cramps, and muscular pains [9, 10]. Three triterpene lactones and five flavonoids have been isolated from an acetone extract [11] and the anti-inflammatory activity of a chloroform extract was reported by Pérez et al. [12]. The present investigation was carried out to assess the anti-inflammatory activity of a chloroform extract using murine macrophages stimulated with LPS. 2. Materials and Methods 2.1. Plant Material Aerial parts of H. albida were collected in Guadalcazar, San Luis

Abstract: background: to establish the knowledge, about sun exposure and photoprotection in outpatients treated at the dermatology clinics in four hospitals in lima, peru. material and methods: a cross-sectional study was conducted involving a sample of 364 patients selected using a systematic random sampling process in the four participating hospitals. the selected patients were interviewed to determine their knowledge, behavior and practices in relation to sun exposure and photoprotection. the chi-square test was used to identify any significant differences between knowledge and practices. results: the mean age of the patients in this sample was 45.1 ± 21.4 years. of the 364 patients, 55.9% were women and 54.8% had skin phototype iv. the principal risks related to sun exposure were skin cancer (80.5%) and sunburn (77.8%). knowledge regarding sun protection was more evident in individuals with university/college education (p<0.001). in addition, 78.9% of the individuals reported that they knew about photo-protectors and 52.3% stated that they used them regularly. in general, women were more knowledgeable regarding sun protection (p=0.001). of the total number of users of photoprotection, 38.4% used these products daily, while 61.6% used them only occasionally. the use of photo-protectors differed significantly in accordance with the individual's education level (p<0.001). in the majority of cases there was a statistically significant difference between knowledge and practice with respect to solar protection. conclusions: the level of awareness of the outpatients treated at the dermatology clinics in these four hospitals in lima, peru about the risks of sun exposure is acceptable; however, a large proportion fail to incorporate regular solar protection as a practice in their daily life.
La ironía nietzscheana y su influencia en la literatura contemporánea The nietzschean irony and its influence in contemporary literature

This essay analyzes the irony in Nietzsche, taking into account three moments. First, succinctly construct the concept of irony developed by Friedrich Schlegel, who defines irony as awareness of the chaos of the universe, which takes the form of a paradox. Second, we examine the irony in Nietzsche’s Thus Spoke Zarathustra which proposes an aesthetics of thought through narration to highlight the unambiguous loss of reality. Third, we study its influence on contemporary literature as a way of releasing the thought of ultimate purpose.
