Abstract: to strengthen continuing health education (che) policies, tutors and facilitators of che have been trained. this study was proposed in order to uncover their needs and difficulties during the process of implementing che. this was a qualitative investigation conducted among nine tutors and ten facilitators of che in the municipality of londrina, paraná. the data-gathering instrument consisted of semi-structured interviews and the data were analyzed in accordance with the discourse analysis proposed by martins and bicudo. the results showed that institutionalization of che was highlighted among the needs, and persistence of hegemonic practices was a difficulty. based on the results, che needs to be consolidated through practicing it in healthcare services, because only in this way will tutors, facilitators and other healthcare professionals be able to overcome the limitations that permeate the process of implementing che.

Abstract: Este estudio tuvo como objetivo identificar la perspectiva de los enfermeros en la educación para la salud y explorar la forma en que está concebido, planificado, ejecutado y evaluado en la Estrategia de Salud de la Familia. Se trata de un estudio exploratorio descriptivo con enfoque cualitativo. Se recolectaron datos de 20 enfermeros en el décimo centro de Salud Regional de Paraná, a través de entrevistas, en abril de 2010 y sometido a análisis de contenido. Los resultados muestran que las enfermeras, en el desarrollo de la educación en salud, se enfrentan a muchas barreras que están relacionados, sobre todo, con la ausencia de tendencias sistemáticas y la educación pedagógica de la educación académica. Llegamos a la conclusión de que, a pesar de estos obstáculos, las enfermeras deben ser alentados a buscar el conocimiento acerca de la planificación, ejecución y evaluación de actividades educativas, y desarrollarlas con el fin de mejorar las condiciones de vida y promover la salud de la población en marco de la Estrategia Salud de la Familia.

Abstract: this paper presents a descriptive, transversal, quantitative study that investigated work conditions and quality of life of community health agents (cha) in londrina, paraná, brazil, in 2009. the pre-selected population consisted of 77 workers. seventy three of them answered a questionnaire involving socio-demographic, health, and work aspects, and also a short version of world health organization quality of life instrument (whoqol-bref). sixty-three workers were women (86,3%) with 33,5 ± 9,2 years of age. forty-nine(67,1%) had finished secondary school, and thirty-five were married (47,9%). cha' salaries were low, and their work conditions were precarious and caused suffering. positive assessment was obtained for quality of general life questions, and for physical health, psychological, and social relationship domains. for the environment domain, the outcome was of intermediary level. closer attention to these workers is necessary in order to assure that appropriate care will be delivered by them to population, family, and community.

Abstract: Discussions over nursing practices have been intensified and valued over the last few years, due to the need to know and discuss nursing competences and to provide support to the nursing activities carried out by the Family Health Unit (FHU). For this reason, not only knowing what their responsibilities are but also certifying whether they are connected with the reality of their jobs have become indispensable. A qualitative research, using a case study, was developed to analyze, from June 19 2006 to September 6 2006, the activities carried out by five nurses from the FHU of Londrina. The nursing attributions analyzed by this research were those established by the Ministry of Health and the County of Londrina Health Department. Results showed that, although the attributions of the nursing professional exercise are broad, they lead to realistic nursing practices, some being more usual than others. In addition, findings from this study showed that, assistance activities, among other attributions, prevailed with nurses from the Family Health Program (FHP), whereas administration and supervision activities are done by the senior nursing officer. It was concluded that these responsibilities cannot possibly be accomplished by only one nurse, and that a good team work is required, with nurses sharing their tasks, organizing diaries, planning and defining priorities for their practices. Estudar as práticas de enfermagem é um tema cuja discuss o tem sido valorizada e intensificada nos últimos anos, devido à necessidade de se conhecer e esclarecer as competências e dar respaldo ao profissional enfermeiro das práticas realizadas nas Unidades de Saúde da Família (USF). Para isso, torna-se necessário n o apenas ter o conhecimento dessas atribui es, mas também saber se todas est o de acordo com a realidade do trabalho desenvolvido por esses profissionais. Esta pesquisa tem uma abordagem qualitativa, tipo estudo de caso, que analisou, durante o período de 19/06/2006 a 06/09/2006, o desenvolvimento das atribui es realizadas por cinco enfermeiras que atuam em uma USF do município de Londrina. Foram utilizadas para este estudo as atribui es estabelecidas pelo Ministério da Saúde (MS) e Autarquia Municipal da Saúde de Londrina (AMS), cujo propósito é entender se as práticas realizadas pelas enfermeiras da USF, condizem com as atribui es propostas pelo MS e AMS. Os resultados mostraram que as atribui es do exercício profissional, embora amplas, direcionam as práticas de enfermagem e est o de acordo com a realidade vivida pelos profissionais em estudo, e umas acontecem

Abstract: this study aims to analyze the health education concepts among the professionals on the family health team and to think critically about the relationship between health education practices and these workers' discourses. it is a qualitative study that uses discourse analysis as its theoretical framework and observation techniques and interviews to produce its data. the models of healing and conveying knowledge are strongly rooted in the concept and practice of health education, in which a vertical, taxing, superior relationship prevails and under which the professional is the keeper of knowledge. the workers consider themselves as educators, and there is a posture among them that envisions the process of educational work aimed at mutual learning and respect for the population's prior knowledge; however, this perception is only in their discourse and should be incorporated into their practice in order for there to be a change in health services. there is a need for a greater appreciation not only of the role played by the worker as a subject who is a driver of change in the educational practice and in the health care model in force, but also of the importance of acknowledging the users as subjects acting in their own health and capable of intervening in their own reality.

Abstract: O Sistema de Informa o da Aten o Básica (SIAB) possibilita a organiza odos dados gerados pelas Equipes de Saúde da Família (ESF). Este estudo é uma pesquisaavaliativa, sobre a utiliza o do SIAB, e teve por objetivo analisar o reconhecimento donascimento por meio do registro nas fichas A e C do SIAB e a cobertura do programa depuericultura pelas ESF de três Unidades Básicas de Saúde (UBS) do município deLondrina, Estado do Paraná. A popula o de estudo foi constituída de nascidos vivos dasáreas de atua o das unidades no primeiro semestre de 2007. Os dados foram obtidos dobanco de dados do Sistema de Informa es de Nascidos Vivos (SINASC), de fichas doSIAB e outros documentos das unidades. As variáveis de estudo foram a utiliza o das fichasA e C, prontuário e “registro alternativo”, além da inscri o no programa de puericultura.Observou-se a utiliza o do prontuário como a forma sistemática de registro mais utilizadonas unidades, varia o da utiliza o da ficha A e a baixa utiliza o da ficha C. Concluiu-se,neste estudo, que apesar da alta cobertura do programa de puericultura, ainda há baixautiliza o do SIAB, especialmente da ficha C, sendo elevada a utiliza o de “registrosalternativos”.Palavras-chave: programa saúde da família, sistemas de informa o, saúde da crian a.ABSTRACT. Analysis of child monitoring by family health teams using the basichealthcare information system. The Basic Health Care Information System (SIAB)makes it possible to organize data generated by Family Health Teams (ESFs). This study isan evaluative research on the use of SIAB, and its objective was to analyze birthconfirmations using the records on SIAB forms A and C, as well as the coverage of thenewborn care program by the ESFs at three Basic Healthcare Units (UBS) in the city ofLondrina, Paraná State. The studied population consisted of live births within the coveragearea of the units during the first semester of 2007. The data were obtained from the LiveBirths Information System (SINASC) database, from SIAB forms and other documentsfrom the units. The study variables were the use of forms A and C, medical register and“alternative record”, as well as enrollment in the newborn care program. The studyobserved the use of medical registers as the most used systematic form of record in theunits, as well as variations in the use of form A and low use of form C. It was concludedthat, in spite of the wide coverage of the newborn care program, there is still low use ofSIAB, particularly form C, with widespread use of “alternative records”.

Abstract: this paper analyses the auxiliary nurses' perception on the work of the family health team regarding users' receptiveness as a technology in the relationship with patients and community in londrina, paraná state, brazil. it is a qualitative research, which data was collected during a focal group. thematic analysis of the content was performed for data analysis. results show that auxiliary nurses have sensibility, are committed, and feel responsible for users' receptiveness, and recognize the importance of an integral and effective attention. they report knowing better the reality of the families' lives since the implementation of the family health program, but highlight the fact that not all of them perform activities outside the unit. contradictions have also been noted regarding the patients' rights provided by the unified health system, mainly about the universality of access. one of the reported difficulties was the increase of demand after the implementation of the family health program. this situation presents itself as a challenge to change the attention model, and it is necessary to reorganize the process of work as well as to incorporate other fields of knowledge in order to promote the practice of receptiveness, and the integration of intra and extra activities at the unit.

Abstract: this essay reflects on the possibilities of heidegger's phenomenology as a reference in the analysis of health education. in "being and time", heidegger advocates the investigation of the meaning of the being, which is crucial for man's understanding of himself as a mortal being. heidegger's ideas have caused transformations in the modern humanist conception and in education practice. the individual is always an actor as he/she exists, experimenting with him/herself within existence. the way of being that deprives of health, suffering, always comes along with a limitation of the possibility of living. thus, heidegger's phenomenology helps us question health education. we understand that man is always in co-presence, between substitutive preoccupation and liberating preoccupation. this path proves to be possible when different ways of being-professor and being-student are considered. therefore, heidegger's thought enables to deepen the teaching-learning that takes place in health education.

Abstract: faculty staff of undergraduate medical school has usually a high level of techno-scientific knowledge but deficient didactic and pedagogical competences, resulting in resistance to change. the purpose of this article is to discuss the challenges posed to the implementation of a faculty development program for the medical course of the state university of londrina. the faculty development committee introduced two activities, as there are: a) an introductory course to prepare future tutors who will provide support to the tutorial group using problem-based learning methods; b) the establishment of a study group in order to discuss and reflect about topics related to the teaching practice. for overcoming the challenges posed by nurturing medical faculty development all implanted activities need to be constantly evaluated in order to assure continuing capacity building.

Abstract: continuing health education is a strategy in brazil that uses problems in healthcare practice as the object of reflection by health teams. to deal with the lack of conceptual and operational command over continuing health education, a course was proposed for facilitators in continuing education. the course was conducted in londrina, paraná state, in which 14 physicians participated. in order to analyze their opinions of the course and its repercussions on their work and healthcare practice, the 11 physicians that finished the course were interviewed using a semi-structured questionnaire. the analysis involved tabulation of the closed questions, and the content of the open questions was- permanent healthcare education. analyzed using thematic analysis. according to these physicians, continuing health education con- health work. sists of the following: reflection on daily problems, teamwork, and meaningful learning. important changes fostered by the course included: expansion of the links between healthcare professionals, democratization of management, grasp of information systems, expansion of analytical capacity, and improvement of healthcare practice. the facilities and difficulties pertained mainly to a firm infrastructure (physical space, time, material, and support), but participants also highlighted issues related to teamwork, like motivation, interest, and participation.
