Assessment on the Evaluation of Learning in Medical Education  [PDF]

Creative Education (CE) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2017.86068
Abstract: The evaluation of learning has been the subject intriguing, full of stigmas historically constructed. Sometimes (most) is seen as instrument of punishment, coercion, discipline. The nature is classified as descriptive exploratory approach with mixed quantitative and qualitative. To collect data, questionnaires were given to students and teachers from 1st to 4th year course and consultation with the instruments of Student Performance Evaluation (AD). Treatment of qualitative data was by content analysis. It was observed that there are similarities between the objectified and practice, teachers and students recognize the systematic evaluation used as a component in the construction of knowledge, however, is not fully understood the operationalization process of this design evaluation by the subjects involved in research, because existence of distortions in its implementation by students and teachers compromising the pedagogical dimension of assessment, for example the “standardization” of the considerations made in relation to student performance. These factors credibility in AD by students showed decline throughout the course. However the traditional evaluation culture is still present in moments of assessment because the talks are still noticeable feeling of fear of exposing opinions. It was therefore concluded that no action needs to AD in practice between in accordance with the theory, for example, with skills that motivate teachers to the correct implementation of the proposal. It is also necessary to make the student realize the process as responsible for the results in individual and collective performances of AD.

Ypiranga, Sylvia;Moraes, Aparecida Machado de;
Anais Brasileiros de Dermatologia , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0365-05962009000200006
Abstract: background - viral dna may act as an oncogene, especially in skin and lymphoid organs. this group includes some human herpes virus. objective - to identify human herpes virus type 1 dna in pre-malignant and malignant skin samples of epithelial tumors comparing to normal skin to determine its role in carcinogenesis. methods - forty-one patients with epithelial tumors were submitted to biopsies from tumor and normal skin. the control group comprised 41 biopsies from patients with other dermatoses than cancer. after dna extraction, polymerase chain reaction was performed to identify 199-bp band. the results were statistically evaluated by fisher and mcnemar tests. results - the virus was identified in 20 subjects without cancer and in 21 with skin cancer. from these, 11 expressed it only in tumor cells. this difference was not significant. conclusion - there seem to be no direct relation between viral findings in normal skin and skin cancer cells. it may act as a promoter or just coexist at the same site where a neoplastic transformation has already occurred.

Morais, Marcilio Machado;Silva, Maria Aparecida;
Ciência e Tecnologia de Alimentos , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-20612011000200003
Abstract: in the drying of some foods such as fruits, besides water there is also the evaporation of other volatile substances present in lesser amounts. therefore, it is interesting to consider the evaporation of volatile components other than water in drying studies. the modification of atmosphere has been used for storage only, especially for vegetables, but it can be extended to drying since it can influence the loss of volatile components responsible for the sensorial characteristics of the final product. in the present study, a drying system previously developed, in which the drying atmosphere can be modified by the addition of gases or liquids, was presented. a model-system was developed from the basic chemical composition of pineapple and the addition of other compounds containing one of the main aroma components (ethyl hexanoate). an analytical methodology for determing the aroma components present in the model-system and in the pineapple was developed from the studies of aroma extraction and gas chromatography. the aroma present in the model-system was extracted with hexane, and the volatile aroma components of the pineapple were extracted with ethylic ether

Abstract: the present work evaluates the action of three different doses of monascus dyes (24, 48 and 60 mg/kg) on the metabolism of albumin, urea, creatinine and uric acid in male and female rabbits. new zealand rabbits from the department of cuniculture of universidade federal de vi?osa (brazil), were used. they were ca. 55 days old at the time of the experiment and they were divided by sex, into four groups of five animals each, receiving the monascus dye in 24, 48 and 60 mg/kg doses. control group only received a ration. daily, the animals received the monascus dye in the different doses, during 28 days. blood was collected twice, being the first collection at time zero and the second one at the end of the experiment. blood was obtained from retro-orbital venous plexus and further centrifuged at 3,500 x gr. during 15 minutes. albumin, creatinine, urea and uric acid were quantified by using multiparametric biochemical analysis from biomérieux (alizé). the results showed that different doses of monascus dye did not change the levels of albumin. creatinine did not show too much variation and did not promote toxicity effects on rabbits, male or females. the same phenomenon was observed for urea and uric acid. our results showed that, in the doses used, monascus dye was innocuous for these animal's kidney and liver.
