LA DISTRIBUCIóN TERRITORIAL DE LA POBLACIóN FEMENINA EXTRACOMUNITARIA EN ESPA A: FACTORES DEMOGRáFICOS Y LABORALES
Elena Vidal Coso,Fernando Gil Alonso,Andreu Domingo i Valls
Distributed Antenna Channels with Regenerative Relaying: Relay Selection and Asymptotic Capacity
Aitor del Coso,Christian Ibars
EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking , 2007, DOI: 10.1155/2007/21093
Abstract: Multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) techniques have been widely proposed as a means to improve capacity and reliability of wireless channels, and have become the most promising technology for next generation networks. However, their practical deployment in current wireless devices is severely affected by antenna correlation, which reduces their impact on performance. One approach to solve this limitation is relaying diversity. In relay channels, a set of N wireless nodes aids a source-destination communication by relaying the source data, thus creating a distributed antenna array with uncorrelated path gains. In this paper, we study this multiple relay channel (MRC) following a decode-and-forward (D&F) strategy (i.e., regenerative forwarding), and derive its achievable rate under AWGN. A half-duplex constraint on relays is assumed, as well as distributed channel knowledge at both transmitter and receiver sides of the communication. For this channel, we obtain the optimum relay selection algorithm and the optimum power allocation within the network so that the transmission rate is maximized. Likewise, we bound the ergodic performance of the achievable rate and derive its asymptotic behavior in the number of relays. Results show that the achievable rate of regenerative MRC grows as the logarithm of the Lambert W function of the total number of relays, that is, ° ’ =log ¢ 2(W0(N)). Therefore, D&F relaying, cannot achieve the capacity of actual MISO channels.

Distributed Compression for the Uplink of a Backhaul-Constrained Coordinated Cellular Network
Aitor del Coso,Sebastien Simoens
Mathematics , 2008,
Abstract: We consider a backhaul-constrained coordinated cellular network. That is, a single-frequency network with $N+1$ multi-antenna base stations (BSs) that cooperate in order to decode the users' data, and that are linked by means of a common lossless backhaul, of limited capacity $\mathrm{R}$. To implement receive cooperation, we propose distributed compression: $N$ BSs, upon receiving their signals, compress them using a multi-source lossy compression code. Then, they send the compressed vectors to a central BS, which performs users' decoding. Distributed Wyner-Ziv coding is proposed to be used, and is optimally designed in this work. The first part of the paper is devoted to a network with a unique multi-antenna user, that transmits a predefined Gaussian space-time codeword. For such a scenario, the compression codebooks at the BSs are optimized, considering the user's achievable rate as the performance metric. In particular, for $N = 1$ the optimum codebook distribution is derived in closed form, while for $N>1$ an iterative algorithm is devised. The second part of the contribution focusses on the multi-user scenario. For it, the achievable rate region is obtained by means of the optimum compression codebooks for sum-rate and weighted sum-rate, respectively.

Can persistent Epstein-Barr virus infection induce Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as a Pavlov reflex of the immune response?
Elena Agliari,Adriano Barra,Kristian Gervasi Vidal,Francesco Guerra
Physics , 2011,
Abstract: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a protracted illness condition (lasting even years) appearing with strong flu symptoms and systemic defiances by the immune system. Here, by means of statistical mechanics techniques, we study the most widely accepted picture for its genesis, namely a persistent acute mononucleosis infection, and we show how such infection may drive the immune system toward an out-of-equilibrium metastable state displaying chronic activation of both humoral and cellular responses (a state of full inflammation without a direct "causes-effect" reason). By exploiting a bridge with a neural scenario, we mirror killer lymphocytes $T_K$ and $B$ cells to neurons and helper lymphocytes $T_{H_1},T_{H_2}$ to synapses, hence showing that the immune system may experience the Pavlov conditional reflex phenomenon: if the exposition to a stimulus (EBV antigens) lasts for too long, strong internal correlations among $B,T_K,T_H$ may develop ultimately resulting in a persistent activation even though the stimulus itself is removed. These outcomes are corroborated by several experimental findings.
Criterios de los estudiantes extranjeros en torno a su integración al proceso docente-educativo Criteria of the foreign students regarding their integration to the teaching-educational process

MEDISAN , 2012,
A descriptive and cross-sectional study on the criteria around the integration to the teaching-educational process of the 7 foreign students who were registered in the Stomatology Faculty of the Medical University from Santiago de Cuba was carried out during the course 2010-2011. It was aimed at specifying some opinions on their professional training, particularly in the clinical area and the student residence, including the values that, in their opinion, contribute to develop the educational strategy of the career. All the students considered that they had a satisfactory training; almost half of them referred to feel well in the scholarship area and that they participated in the cultural, sport and social activities programmed by the University Students Federation, so that an appropriate integration exists from these students to the teaching educational process.
