Business and Economics Research Journal , 2011,
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to determine the applications of hotel establishments in the scope of operational risk. In this context, a survey was applied to the managers of four and five star hotel establishments in Ankara/Turkey. According to the factor analysis done after the literature search and questionnaire, four risks types (staff, technological, organizational and legal risks) have been found in the scope of operational risk, and their applications towards these risk types in hotel establishments have been assessed. In the process of analyzing the data, frequency and percentage distribution, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, factor analysis and t test were used. The analysis applied on the study shows that hotel establishments which are in the scope of the study are aware of the operational risk management. Moreover, the applications among the implementations of four and five star hotels in terms of risk types in hotel establishments were compared according to hotel types and in the legal risks dimension, which is an operational risk type, differences were found statistically significant.

In this context, to determine the job satisfaction levels of the city and resort employees in hotel establishments ,this research is carried on 1854 employees employed at 114 five-star hotels in city and resort areas of Turkey using “Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale” to collect data. It is concluded that the employees whose job satisfaction is measured by questionnaires are not satisfied with such issues as the wage, making their own decisions, company policies and promotion opportunities. In the further analyses performed (independent-samples t test and ANOVA), it is found out that the job satisfaction level of the employees working in resort hotel establishments is higher than the employees working in the ciy hotel establishments. In addition this, it is found out that there are some differences between the job satisfaction level and education level of the employees.

In the study, the differences of hotel workers’ opinions toward the job satisfaction and job burnout by demographic characteristics were analyzed using t-test and analysis of variance (ANOVA). In addition, Correlation and Regression Analysis were conducted to determine the relationship between professional burnout and job satisfaction levels. According to the results of correlation and regression analyses, it is found out that professional burnout level has a significant effect on job satisfaction level of the employees.

Abstract: In any organization regardless of the sector type they are operating, managers being on a decision-making position can benefitemployees to adopt the business by guiding them and giving ownership and responsibility to their work. And this case will bringon that employees, who are the practitioners of decisions made by managers, will be actively have a voice in any decision theyparticipate in the process of a job or organization. In fact, such an understanding, bring out the case of empowerment theemployees. Especially with this point of view, when the employees and management of them are taken into account, giving themthe authority and responsibility, providing suitable environment to work, and taking steps toward empowerment will significantlycontribute the organization in achieving its objectives. Employees’ finding administrative practices for empowerment inadequateemerges a negative case for empowerment. At this stage, particularly, factors such as not having qualified employee forempowerment, policy deficiencies, role ambiguity may play a part. For employee empowerment barriers which will emerge in theform of administrative obstacles, reasons such as protecting areas of administrative convenience, the administrative concept ofmastering all things, the manager's self-distrust, the fear of losing authority and control, lack of knowledge, skills and capacities ofemployee to done given assignments can be given as examples.Empowering the elements such as participation of employees to management, giving them responsibilities and clearance, work enrichment, and perception of these elements by the employees will contribute to both the related literature andestablishment managers in the point of searching whether the expectations of employees are met or not, whether functioning willbe made for empowering period and precautions that will be taken or possibly taken regarding the issue. On the other hand, surveys carried out related to the issue of empowering in establishments condense on the frame of perceptions of managers oremployees. However, some problems (unsignification, inacception, etc.) in the perception of activities that the managers carry outfor the issue of empowering by employees due to various reasons make the situation difficult for the managers as empowerers toachieve in these applications. In this frame, it is needed the determination of the perceptions of employees as the empowered, andit is revealed the necessity of clarification of how these applications of managers are perceived by employees, and this increasesthe importance of studies carri

Abstract: In the crystal structure of the title compound, C22H17N3O, the oxazine ring has a half-chair conformation. The dihedral angles between the best least-squares plane through the pyridine rings and the planar part (O–C–C–C–N) of the oxazine ring are 72.14 (6) and 35.44 (7)°, the smaller angle involving the pyridine ring adjacent to the oxazine O atom. The molecule has two stereogenic centers at the oxazine carbons, RS and SR. The crystal packing reveals that symmetry-related molecules are linked by intermolecular N—H...N hydrogen bonds to form chains parallel to the b axis.

Indian Journal of Ophthalmology , 2009,
Abstract: Purpose: To assess accumulation of p53 protein in samples of primary pterygium from people living in two different climatic regions in Turkey. Materials and Methods: Group 1 included 101 pterygium specimens from people in Adana located in southern Turkey. Group 2 included 39 pterygium specimens from people in Ankara, located in the middle of Turkey. Climatic conditions throughout the year are sunnier and warmer in Adana than they are in Ankara. The control group (Group 3) included 30 specimens of conjunctiva that had been excised during cataract surgery from 30 patients without pterygium. The pterygial specimens and control conjunctiva were studied by immunohistochemistry using antibodies against p53 protein. Pearson′s chi-square test was used to compare the p53 immunoreactivity. Results: The p53 immunoreactivity in Groups 1 and 2 was greater than it was in the control group ( P< 0.001). There were no differences in p53 immunoreactivity between Groups 1 and 2 ( P= 0.060). Conclusion: The p53 immunoreactivity was not correlated with ultraviolet irradiation exposure. The p53 immunoreactivity in our pterygium specimens suggests that pterygium could be a result of uncontrolled cell proliferation.

Indian Journal of Ophthalmology , 2010,
Abstract: We report a rare presentation of brucellosis as bilateral optic nerve and right abducent nerve involvement, and endocarditis complicated by right premacular hemorrhage in a 28-year-old white female. The patient showed improvement with both medical and surgical therapy. Brucellosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of papillitis, gaze palsy and endocarditis complicated with premacular hemorrhage in endemic regions.
