Climate changes, national security and energy dependence are deeply related questions, so energy security is on the top of the international agenda. This article starts to debate the idea of energy security, than examine the energy security and dependence on the European Union set, and finally compare Portugal and Sweden.
Calling behaviour and evaluation of sex pheromone glands extract of Neoleucinodes elegantalis Guenée (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) in wind tunnel
Eiras, álvaro E.;
Anais da Sociedade Entomológica do Brasil , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S0301-80592000000300007
Abstract: adult emergence and mating behavior of neoleucinodes elegantalis guenée were studied under laboratory conditions (23 ± 1°c, 12 h photophase and 70% rh). adult emergence occurred only at scotophase period. female began to emerge from the 1st hour to 8th hour with a peak occurring at 4th hour of scotophase. male showed similar trend, but emerging from 2nd to 11th with a peak also at 4th hour of scotophase. mating was preceded by wing vibration in the male prior to and during walking approach. mating occurred only during the scotophase period between the 4th and 10th hour of scotophase, with the peak occurring at the 7th hour. newly emerged n. elegantalis couples rarely mated (2.8%) whereas 48 and 96 h old couples mated 26.3% and 27.5% respectively. glands extracts from abdominal tips of 48-72 h virgin female moths evaluated in a wind tunnel were more attractive than virgin females.
Education in the Direction of Public-Private Partnership
Norma Suely Siqueira Eiras
Educa??o : Teoria e Prática , 2008,
Abstract: The process of the neoliberalism reveals, at its more intense moment, the submission of all the levels of the life human being the mercantile transactions, the capitalist inclination to the world-wide trading. In this manner, the neoliberal proposals objectify,over all, the creation of an only feeling to guarantee the success of its ideals of globalization, free-economy and State minimum, not inhibit the social politics, but partnership of the market. Amongst the artifices used for the neoliberal proposers, placed the Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) with which this article concerns. Fromthe conceptualization and characterization of the instrument Public-Private Partnerships(PPPs), national and European projects, developed through the PPPs, had been analyzed. The subjects of these projects involve Technology of Computer science and Communication and eLearning (education + technology + in the distance). Reflectionshad evidenced that the partnerships between governments and multinationals companies can lead to a loss of control on the part of the State on the educational formation of the citizens and the loss of identity of its resumes. The explanation for this phenomenon happens of the trend to the globalization. On the other hand, thesepartnerships bring profits politicians to the governments and economic to the companies.
Light Fermion Finite Mass Effects in Non-relativistic Bound States
Dolors Eiras,Joan Soto
Physics , 2000, DOI: 10.1016/S0370-2693(00)01004-2
Abstract: We present analytic expressions for the vacuum polarization effects due to a light fermion with finite mass in the binding energy and in the wave function at the origin of QED and (weak coupling) QCD non-relativistic bound states. Applications to exotic atoms, \Upsilon (1s) and t\bar{t} production near threshold are briefly discussed.
Renormalizing the Lippmann-Schwinger equation for the one pion exchange potential
Dolors Eiras,Joan Soto
Physics , 2001, DOI: 10.1140/epja/i2002-10138-1
Abstract: We address the question whether the cut-off dependence, which has to be introduced in order to properly define the Lippmann-Schwinger equation for the one pion exchange potential plus local (delta-function) potentials, can be removed (up to inverse powers of it) by a suitable tuning of the various (bare) coupling constants. We prove that this is indeed so both for the spin singlet and for the spin triplet channels. However, the latter requires such a strong cut-off dependence of the coupling constant associated to the non-local term which breaks orbital angular momentum conservation, that the renormalized amplitude lacks from partial wave mixing. We argue that this is an indication that this term must be treated perturbatively.
Effective Field Theory Approach to Pionium
D. Eiras,J. Soto
Physics , 1999, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevD.61.114027
Abstract: The various dynamical scales below the pion mass involved in $\pi^{+}$ $\pi^{-}$ atoms are sequentially integrated out using non-relativistic effective field theory techniques. This allows us to systematically organise the corrections to the energy levels and decay width. We present our results in terms of a single unknown constant which may be obtained by matching to the Chiral Lagrangian with electromagnetic interactions at two loops.
Influence of calcium carbonate nanoparticles on the crystallization of olypropylene
Eiras, Daniel;Pessan, Luiz Antonio;
Materials Research , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-14392009000400024
Abstract: the aim of this work was to study the influence of calcium carbonate nanoparticles in crystallization process of polypropylene. four compositions of pp/caco3 nanocomposites were prepared in a co-rotational twin screw extruder machine with calcium carbonate content of 3, 5, 7 and 10 wt. (%). the tests included sem analyzes for calcium carbonate, differential scanning calorimetry (dsc) and wide angle x-ray diffraction (waxd) for the nanocomposites. the results showed an increase in pp crystallization temperature and crystallinity degree, and a reduction in spherullites size. the formation of pp β phase was confirmed by dsc and waxd results. finally from dsc analyses under isothermal conditions it was confirmed that calcium carbonate nanoparticles have a nucleation effect in polypropylene crystallization process by reducing the half crystallization time and increasing the kinetic constant (k).
Mechanical properties of polypropylene/calcium carbonate nanocomposites
Eiras, Daniel;Pessan, Luiz Antonio;
Materials Research , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-14392009000400023
Abstract: the aim of this work was to study the influence of calcium carbonate nanoparticles in both tensile and impact mechanical properties of a polypropylene homopolymer. four compositions of pp/caco3 nanocomposites were prepared in a co-rotational twin screw extruder machine with calcium carbonate content of 3, 5, 7 and 10 wt. (%) the tests included sem analyzes together with eds analyzer and ftir spectroscopy for calcium carbonate, tensile and impact tests for pp and the nanocomposites. the results showed an increase in pp elastic modulus and a little increase in yield stress. brittle-to-ductile transition temperature was reduced and the impact resistance increased with the addition of nanoparticles. from the stress-strain curves we determined the occurrence of debonding process before yielding leading to stress softening. debonding stress was determined from stress-strain curves corresponding to stress in 1% strain. we concluded that the tensile properties depend on the surface contact area of nanoparticles and on their dispersion. finally we believe that the toughening was due to the formation of diffuse shear because of debonding process.
Nos caminhos da pena de um romancista do século XIX: o Rio de Janeiro de Diva, Lucíola e Senhora
Soares, Ana Carolina Eiras Coelho;
Revista Brasileira de História , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-01882010000200011
Abstract: this article seeks to understand the relations between urban spaces in nineteenth century rio de janeiro and the gender relations expressed in josé de alencar's narrative in his urban feminine novels: diva, lucíola and senhora. changes in the capital of the empire in the nineteenth century provoked new expectations about the normatization of circulation expressed in these novels. josé de alencar was a novelist, playwright, chronicler, parliamentarian and statesman of the brazilian empire. in all these activities the political dimension, understood as the space for the articulation of the social and its representation, was strongly present.
