Abstract: A síndrome ocular isquêmica (SOI) ocorre devido à hipoperfus o ocular cr nica secundária à obstru o da artéria carótida. Ischemic ocular syndrome (IOS) is caused by stenosis of carotid artery. Proliferative retinopathy is one of the signs and can lead to misdiagnosis with diabetic retinopathy. IOS must be considered in case of proliferative retinopathy asymmetric and refractory to laser treatment. Carotid endarterectomy in patients with IOS with no neurologic manifestations remains controversy. This paper reported a patient with IOS simulating diabetic retinopathy and treated with endarterectomy.
Zoological nomenclature in the digital era
Alessandro Minelli
Frontiers in Zoology , 2013, DOI: 10.1186/1742-9994-10-4
Abstract: Publications containing the description of new species, the proposal of names for new supraspecific taxa, or other acts affecting the application of a given name to a given taxon are different, in an important sense, from ordinary scientific books or papers [1]. This is because introducing a new species name, or otherwise intervening on the use of the scientific names of animals, is not simply a way to translate into words the author’s view on a particular problem of animal taxonomy. The choice of the names by which we refer to the individual species, genera or families in the animal kingdom is ruled by a set of principles known as the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature[2] (hereafter, ‘the Code’). Thus, in a sense, irrespective of its scientific quality or importance, a publication relevant to zoological nomenclature must be treated as a legal document. As such, it remains on record, virtually, for ever.Until recently, publication of new names in a work produced with ink on paper was required for their availability. A long awaited amendment to the Code issued in September 2012 by the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature now allows publication of new names in online-only works, provided that the latter are registered with ZooBank, the Official Register of Animal Names. With this amendment, the rules of zoological nomenclature have been aligned with the opportunities (and needs) of our digital era. However, possible causes for nomenclatural instability remain.I mean, here, instability for intrinsic, purely nomenclatural reasons. These must be kept clearly separate from name changes due to alternative taxonomic views. Nomenclature should provide a unique name for each taxon in the classification, but, as stated in the Preamble to the Code, no rule is intended to restrict the freedom of taxonomic thought or actions [2]. How true this eventually is in practice, is an interesting question [3] that has been raised [4] even before an alternative se
Phylo-evo-devo: combining phylogenetics with evolutionary developmental biology
Alessandro Minelli
BMC Biology , 2009, DOI: 10.1186/1741-7007-7-36
Abstract: Wiegmann et al.'s molecular phylogeny of the holometabolous insect orders, recently published in BMC Biology, offers a good opportunity to revisit the inverted positions of wings and halteres in the Diptera and the Strepsiptera in terms of a putative homeotic mutation in the Hox gene Ultrabithorax. The main finding of this paper is that Strepsiptera are closely related to the Coleoptera rather than Diptera, as recently claimed. Through this exemplary case, the paper demonstrates the value of the reciprocal illumination we can expect from the integration of a good phylogeny and a sound knowledge of the evolvability of developmental mechanisms.Evolutionary developmental biology, or evo-devo, has benefited from an integrated use of tools, both conceptual and experimental, that were originally developed within a number of separate fieldsand the discipline'smultiple roots are fixed inits name. Another discipline to benefit is phylogenetics, within which the morphological and the molecular approach are far from being quietly integrated, but are nevertheless in daily, eventually constructive confrontation. Needless to say, an integration of evo-devo with phylogenetics, an approach we may call phylo-evo-devo, will benefit both traditions alike, the phylogenetic and the evolutionary developmental one [1]. What matters, however, is to take the new challenge seriously. If evo-devoists have been too often na?f in reconstructing ancestral states without resorting to cladistics, phylogeneticists have been equally na?f in using vague notions of comparative developmental genetics to speculate too freely about the possible origin, or course, of major morphological changes in evolution.Evo-devo was called in as a possible source of explanation of the counterintuitive morphological relationships between two insect orders, the Diptera and the Strepsiptera, whose close phylogenetic affinities were suggested by mitochondrial DNA sequences [2-7]. In male Strepsiptera (females are wingless

A selenium sulfide suspension, 2,5%, was used for the treatment of scabies, as a soap to be used in bathing, daily, during four consecutive days. Good results were found in 89,99% of the cases studied and no side-effects were observed.
Overlapping of residential system and infrastructures on rural and ornamental green component: current situation and possible development
Alberto Minelli,Marcella Minelli,Ilaria Pasini
Italian Journal of Agronomy , 2009, DOI: 10.4081/ija.2009.s3.77
Abstract: The quick towns’ expansion, the aggregation of plot of agricultural land are causing a landscape disequilibrium. The plants are chosen in a accidental way, without planning and technical background, and wrong choices become high maintenance costs. Towns resources requalification has to be reach making synergies and getting back to an environmental linkage. We need to guarantee high environmental quality standard, and environmental respect is now, and in the future, the central point in every urban management. This concept is applied in green master plans, giving to the region necessary orientation to guarantee a good aesthetic effect, but also the technical results requested today.

Ofrendas atacame?as en la Colección de Monse?or Campagner (Treviso, Italia)
Laurencich-Minelli,Laura;
Estudios atacame?os , 2011, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-10432011000100004
Abstract: this article describe 16 objects of the 72 items from san pedro de atacama (chile) in the campagner collection. each object was carved out of a single wood piece and with them the atacame?os officiated shamanic rituals. here, we also discuss the ideology which might be at the basis of the atacama political-religious power, by showing how some of the campagner's items support the archaeological suggestion that the initial incaic could be related to tiwanaku.
