Controle de Botryosphaeria ribis causador de seca de ponteiro em Corymbia citriodora, com extratos vegetais e fungicidas

Abstract: tip drought is a disease that has been causing severe damages to eucalyptus trees, resulting in canker along the branches. the aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of fungicides and plant extracts on the control of botryosphaeria ribis. the in vitro test of fungicides was completely randomized with eight treatments: carbendazim, chlorothalonil, difenoconazole, picoxystrobin + ciproconazol, ciproconazol, azoxystrobin, picoxystrobin and control, four doses: 1 μg/ml, 10 μg/ml, 100 μg/ml and 1000 μg/ml, with five replicates. after homogenization of the medium, they were plateds, recultured in a disk with culture medium containing the pathogen and kept in bod at 25 ° c for five days. the evaluation was done by daily measuring the mycelium radial growth in centimeters. the experimental design of chemical control in the field was in 5x3 factorial arrangement, five fungicides and three application methods, with four replicates. four applications were done with fifteen-day intervals. treatments were: 1. azoxystrobin, 2. carbendazim, 3. chlorothalonil + thiophanate-methyl, 4. difenoconazole and 5. control. simultaneously evaluations were done following a scale from 1 to 6, conform the intensity of symptoms. the experimental design in vitro using plant extracts was in 5x4, factorial arrangement, with three replicates. the evaluated treatments were extracts from: a thousand leaves sao caetano melon, eucalyptus, alcohol and control, at the concentrations of 5, 10, 15 and 20%. the extracts and the alcohol were mixed with previously autoclaved culture medium, which was then plated in petri dishes. the evaluation was done by daily measuring the mycelium radial growth in centimeters. in the test with seedlings the experimental design was in 2x2x4, factorial arrangement, and two cultivars were used besides two treatment modes (preventive and curative) and four control products (s?o caetano melon extract, c. citriodora extract, alcohol and water). the pathogen was inocu

Abstract: in the present work we evaluated, under field conditions, the efficiency of several types of cow milk on the control of powdery mildew of pumpkin cv. piramoita, caused by sphaerotheca fuliginea. the experimental design consisted of randomized blocks with six treatments, five replications and five plants per plot. the treatments were: raw cow milk, pasteurized type c milk, integral long life milk and the association of the last two with yakult? and a control with water. milk is a viable alternative to control powdery mildew, even after infections have started under field conditions. raw cow milk, type c milk and type c + yakult? were the most efficient and integral long life was the least efficient.

Abstract: green pepper rust is caused by the fungus puccinia pampeana. since this fungus has two distinct telial forms, it is classified as a biteliomorphic rust. the first form occurs at the beginning of symptom appearance, with aecidioid, golden-yellow, catenulate teliospores surrounded by a peridium. the second one occurs at the end of the fungus cycle in the host, with dark brown, pulvinate, bicellular, pedicellate telioid teliospores, which contain germination self-inhibiting substances in their walls, that can be removed by washing. aqueous extracts were prepared with 20 mg of puccinia pampeana telioid teliospores, and tested on germination inhibition of aecidioid teliospores of the same rust and of urediniospores of coleosporium plumierae and hemileia vastratrix. the inhibiting effect was demonstrated by measuring metabasidial length (aecidioid teliospores of p. pampeana) and germ tube length of c. plumierae and h. vastratrix. the inhibiting effect was verified after 4 and 6 h of contact of spores with the extracts.
Caracteriza??o morfofisiológica de isolados do gênero Cylindrocladium

Abstract: in order to characterize the anamorphic genus cylindrocladium eighteen isolates of this funguswere cultivated in different culture media, kept under different temperatures, besides having conidia and terminal vesicles morphologically analyzed for correct identification of the isolates. inoculations on different hosts were carried out to evaluate of pathogenic behavior of the studied isolates. concerning the morphologic characters studied, it was observed that alterations occurred in the conidial dimensions and morphology of the terminal vesicles, but was not important considering that is due to substratum changes. however, the natural variability in the general characteristics of these structures indicated that it is difficult to obtain a correct identification of the isolates. in the same culture it was observed terminal vesicles with different morphologies. pathogenic and physiological differences among the isolates could be observed. this brings the idea of distinct population groups when such characteristics are considered in this study. these differences probably indicate a distinct genetic constitution among the isolates used in this study.
Especificidade de Puccinia pampeana a cultivares de Capsicum spp. e outras solanáceas

Abstract: the capsicum spp. (pepper and green pepper) rust is caused by the fungus puccinia pampeana. this is an important disease in these crops which may cause complete losses in crops of several species of capsicum. although specific to the genus capsicum, and despite the fact that many species within this genus are susceptible to rust, some of them have shown a hypersensitivity reaction. that was the case with capsicum annuum (cayenne pepper) and c. chinense (datil pepper), which, after spermogonia formation (11 days), showed necrotic spots in the peripheral region of the spermogonia 15 days after inoculation, without evolution of the infection. a milder hypersensitivity reaction was also observed only in leaves of c. annuum (chili pepper) and c. baccatum ("chapéu-de-frade"). with regard to other solanaceous plants inoculated ("jiló" and eggplant), no symptoms or signs of infection were observed.

Abstract: the cultivation of eucalyptus is one of the most important in brazil, constituting a source of renewable energy and wood, supporting important agro-industrial processes for production of pulp, paper and essences. eucalyptus, like other plant species is infected by various pathogens, especially fungi, from nursery to adult trees. in this work, was studied de causative agent of ceratocystis wilt. the fungus ceratocystis fimbriata ellis. et halsted is a typical xylem pathogen, which the marker symptom is observable in the cross sections of woody organs in the form of dark radial striations, from core to the outer periphery of the wood or from the periphery to the core. these streaks in the wood are visible when an affected branch is cut across because pathogen causes the disintegration of the vascular system. it is a fungus of fast spreading and that affects plants in various stages of development and because of this is difficult to control. the objectives of this work were verify the clonal susceptibility to the pathogen for aid breeding programs to obtain resistant materials and study epidemiological model for determination of disease progress on the field. for this, stecklings of operational clones were used for inoculation to evaluate the resistance. epidemiological assessment of spatial distribution was made according to field surveys with plots previously installed. different resistance levels were found in the studied materials, since high resistance until high susceptibility. in the field, the disease showed a clustered distribution, with tendency to aggregation of foci and vertical distribution (in the plant line).
Efeito da temperatura sobre a severidade de Plasmodiophora brassicae

Abstract: temperature is an important parameter for infection and plant desease development. in order to determine the influence of temperature on the severity of clubroot caused by plasmodiophora brassicae in pak choi chinese cabbage plants, infection tests were carried out under temperatures set at 5oc increments, from 10 to 40oc. a reduction in severity of the disease was observed during the analysis of results in 28-day-old seedlings, at temperatures above 30oc. the optimal temperature for disease development and crop growth were from 20 to 25oc. it was observed that at this temperature range inoculated seedling presented 26% less dry matter than noninoculated seedlings, thus demonstrating a direct effect of clubroot on plant dry matter accumulation.

Abstract: we analyzed the performance of five commercial chinese cabbage hybrids before the aggressiveness of 24 plasmodiophora brassicae isolates from different regions of the state of sao paulo. the test was conducted in a greenhouse and set out in blocks. it was found that the five hybrids were susceptible to all isolates p.brassicae, and the hybrid 3 with behavior more resistant hybrid and two with the behavior more likely. among the isolates, it was found that the piedade-sp isolates were the most aggressive and ribeir?o preto-sp isolates were less aggressive towards the five hybrids.
