Abstract: L'evolution de Mer de Glace. Au moitie du 19eme siecle les glaciers du Mont Blanc massif ont été cartographiés et étudiés pour la premiere fois. Au cours du temps géologiques on peut estimer la localisation, le volume,les retraites et les avances du glacier.Mer de glace est du temps anciennes un repère pour la population du vallée de l'Arve, et aujourd'hui un indicateur précieux pour l'evaluation du fenomen de réchauffement climatique. Les ages de glace passes influencaient la répartition des glaciers et fa onné le paysage du Mont Blanc massif et de la vallée de l'Arve. On peut constaté que le taux de fusion est deplus en plus plus accélére dans la seconde moitié du XXe siècle et vraiment accelere apres 1980. En utilissant les différents modèles 3D et les données climatiques recueillies pour la station météo de Chamonix Mont-Blanc, nous savons que le passé, nous pouvons confirmer cela, et faire les prédictions sur l'évolution future du glacier.
Implications of various intensities of radio frequency electromagnetic radiation (462 MHz) in the induction of oxidative stress during the germination of Hippophae rhamnoides seeds

Abstract: The data accumulated by now shows that the topic of biological effects of electromagnetic radiation is far from being exhausted. Is undoubtedly that a non-ionizing radiation field maintained on a biological entity has some effects on it. To try shaping issues regarding this, this work aims to study the impact of radiation generated by an emission-reception radio station that emits on 462.6875 MHz frequency. For this purpose, were used Hippophae rhamnoides L. seeds which germinated in the laboratory, under controlled conditions, concentrically arranged around the radiation source, in which case electromagnetic radiation has a different impact. Seed germination lasted 35 days, while the device has continuously worked, and the seeds were constantly irradiated. It was precisely measured the intensity of the magnetic component of the field in all places where the seeds were placed for germination. It was calculated the percentage of germination and it was determined the enzyme activity involved in eliminating the oxidative stress effects. It was found significant variations of the parameters mentioned above in conjunction with the radiation intensity depending on the distance from the source.
The role of physical training in lowering the cardio-metabolic risk

Abstract: The cardio-metabolic risk represents the overall risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus and / or cardiovascular disease(including heart atack or stroke) due to a complex risk factors. The aim of the current prospective study is to evaluate thelifestyle intervention group in a special benefit (overweight young students) with cardio-metabolic risk. Material andMethods: Subjects considered for the study: young obese, sedentary, a number of 43 patients (mean age 21.3 ± 3.1years, 93% female). There were made two evaluations on an interval of 6 months, during which patients haveperformed physical training at least 3 times a week (individually according to the individual test), supervised by aphysical therapist. The remission rate was high (37%), from the initial of 43 patients only 27 remained at the second test.Results: After 6 months of lifestyle intervention, we noticed a significant decrease of weight (from 83.61 ± 21.04 to 79.7 ±20.13), body mass index (from 30.93 ± 6.67 to 29.55 ± 6.74), FindRisc score (2.7 to 2) waist circumference (from 98.98 ±10.14 to 89.54 ± 12.32), waist to hip ratio (from 0.87 to 0.85), visceral fat area (98.6 to 88). Conclusion: The activeintervention and closely monitoring of changing lifestyles leads to a significant improvement of cardiovascular risk factors atyoung obese patients. This type of intervention is effective both in terms of benefits in medium term, and relatively increaseddue compliance of young patients to programs involving physical activity.

Optimization of heteroduplex analysis for the detection of BRCA mutations and SNPs

Abstract: BRCA1 and BRCA2 are tumour suppressor genes whose mutant phenotypes predispose to breast and ovarian cancer. Screening for mutations in these genes is now standard practice for hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC) cases in Europe, and permits medical follow-up and genetic counselling adapted to the needs of individuals in such families. Currently, most laboratories performing diagnostic analysis of the BRCA genes use PCR of exons and intron-exon boundaries coupled to a pre-screening step to identify anomalous amplicons. The techniques employed for the detection of mutations and SNPs have evolved over time and vary in sensitivity, specificity and cost-effectiveness. As a variant for pre-screening techniques, we chose the recently developed Surveyor heteroduplex cleavage method as a sensitive and specific technique to reveal anomalous amplicons of the BRCA genes, using only basic laboratory equipment and agarose gel electrophoresis. Here we present the detection of either mutations or SNPs within the BRCA1 exon 7, using heteroduplex analysis (HA) by mismatch-specific endonuclease, confirmed by dideoxy sequencing.

Abstract: Nous avons procédé au traitement des grains de blé germinés (Triticum aestivum) par des solutions de nitrates et nitrites de différentes concentrations et nous avons suivi l’activité de deux enzymes, la catalase (E.C. 1.11.1.6) et la peroxydase (E.C. 1.11.1.7), suite a ce traitement. Les résultats expérimentaux montrent que les nitrates et les nitrites présentent une influence modificatrice sur l’activité enzymatique dans les grains en cours de germination.

Abstract: De plus en plus de maladies héréditaires ou non s’avèrent être causées par le disfonctionnement des enzymes impliquées dans les voies métaboliques, à leur tour défectueuses à cause des mutations essentielles au sein des gènes. Abstract: Le cancer du sein, ainsi que celui ovarien, est une maladie fréquente chez les femmes, ayant un traitement assez difficile et, malheureusement, de sérieuses répercutions sur le physique ; c’est pourquoi il s’avère essentiel que la maladie soit dépistée dès les phases précoces. La prédisposition génétique est responsable de 5% des cancers et de 25% des cas apparus avant l’age de 30 ans [Breast Cancer Linkage Consortium, 1997]. Nous présentons ici l’implication des gènes suppresseurs des tumeurs BRCA1 et BRCA2 sur cette prédisposition.

Abstract: reast and ovarian cancer are common pathologies in women, with increasing incidences worldwide. In hereditary breast and ovarian cancer (HBOC) families, a large percentage of cases are attributable to hereditary factors compatibles with dominant autosomal transmission of a major tumour suppressor gene with incomplete penetrance. Screening for BRCA1 mutations is now standard practice for HBOC cases in western world, and permits medical follow- up and genetic counselling. Over 300 BRCA1 germinal mutations are stored in the Breast Cancer Information Core (BIC) mutation database. 185delAG, an Ashkenazi founder mutation, is a recurrent BRCA1 mutation in eastern European populations. Several screening methods were proposed for detection of 185delAG. We demonstrate that one screening methods generates false positives by unspecific amplifications, therefore being inappropriate for molecular diagnosis.
Unclassified sequence variants (UVS) and genetic predisposition to cancer

Abstract: Hereditary breast and ovarian cancers are mainly attributable to predisposition genes whose germinal mutations are responsible for the disease. The most common genes associated with breast/ovarian cancer are BRCA1 and BRCA2 but at least 20 other genes of medium of high penetrance have been associated with these types of cancer. Lifetime risk of breast cancer for BRCA mutations carriers approaches 90%. Appropriate medical follow-up is therefore essential for women carrying mutations in these genes. BRCA mutational spectrum has not been entirely characterized but not all sequence variants are pathogenic. These are classified as benign polymorphisms or unclassified variants (UV) with unknown pathological potential. To date, 43,5% of over 3500 genetic variants BRCA1 and BRCA2 are reported as having uncertain clinical significance. Whether one sequence variant has or not a pathogenicity implication is often a hard decision to take, involving important consequences for diagnosis and medical follow-up. Here we present several cases of unclassified sequence variants detection and interpretation by in-silico analysis.
