Interactive Progressive Image Transmission
E. Matus,D. Levicky
Radioengineering , 1999,
Abstract: In progressive image transmission (PIT) the image is transmitted progressively i.e. the low detail image is transmitted as first followed by transmission of detail signals. In our contribution we consider interactivity in the PIT. For example, the observer could specify image regions of highest interest (ROI). In this case, the image transmission should be optimised with respect to the ROI. The definition of objective criterion for interactive PIT is made in this paper as first. The spatial signal decomposition is derived with respect to this criterion. Wavelet transform of spatial components is used. At the end demonstration of proposed algorithm is made.
A Two Layer Hybrid Image Coder
D. Levicky,E. Matus,P. Kral
Radioengineering , 1995,
Abstract: This paper presents a new idea of a two layer hybrid image coder based on visual pattern image coding of original image and residual image by means of the wavelet transform. At first contours are extracted from the original image. As a contour extractor a VP1C coder is used. In the second, the residual image is computed and coded by the wavelet transform. At the decoder side the sum of contours and residual (texture) image parts is made to obtain the reconstructed image. Some results of coding simulation on picture Lena (256x256x8) are presented. The proposed coding technique is well suitable for image coding and progressive image transmission.
Digital Watermarking in Wavelet Transform Domain
M. Candik,E. Matus,D. Levicky
Radioengineering , 2001,
Abstract: This paper presents a technique for the digital watermarking ofstill images based on the wavelet transform. The watermark (binaryimage) is embedded into original image in its wavelet domain. Theoriginal unmarked image is required for watermark extraction. Themethod of embedding of digital watermarks in wavelet transform domainwas analyzed and verified on grey scale static images.
Tumor de células de Sertoli calcificante, de células grandes: caso clínico
Tapia E,Oscar; Matus O,Claudio; Villaseca H,Miguel;
Revista médica de Chile , 2011, DOI: 10.4067/S0034-98872011001000012
Abstract: sertoli cell tumors are less than 1% of all testicular tumors. we report a 14-year-old male presenting with a left testicular mass. orchiectomy was carried out and the pathological study informed a large cell calcifying sertoli cell tumor (lccsct). its association with the carney complex and peutz-jeghers syndrome was subsequently discarded. surgical excision was completed with a radical orchiectomy. after eight months of follow up, there is no evidence of tumor relapse.
Expression of HER2 and bradykinin B1 receptors in precursor lesions of gallbladder carcinoma
Cesar Toledo,Carola E Matus,Ximena Barraza,Pamela Arroyo
World Journal of Gastroenterology , 2012, DOI: 10.3748/wjg.v18.i11.1208
Abstract: AIM: To determine the expression of HER2 and bradykinin B1 receptors (B1R) in the two pathogenic models of gallbladder cancer: the metaplasia-dysplasia-carcinoma and the adenoma-carcinoma pathways. METHODS: Receptor proteins were visualized by immunohistochemistry on 5-μm sections of paraffin-embedded tissue. Expression of both receptors was studied in biopsy samples from 92 patients (6 males and 86 females; age ranging from 28 to 86 years, mean 56 years). High HER2 expression in specimens was additionally investigated by fluorescence in situ hybridization. Cell proliferation in each sample was assessed by using the Ki-67 proliferation marker. RESULTS: HER2 receptor protein was absent in adenomas and in normal gallbladder epithelium. On the contrary, there was intense staining for HER2 on the basolateral membrane of epithelial cells of intestinal metaplasia (22/24; 91.7%) and carcinoma in situ (9/10; 90%), the lesions that displayed a significantly high proliferation index. Protein up-regulation of HER2 in the epithelium with metaplasia or carcinoma in situ was not accompanied by HER2 gene amplification. A similar result was observed in invasive carcinomas (0/12). The B1R distribution pattern mirrored that of HER2 except that B1R was additionally observed in the adenomas. The B1R appeared either as cytoplasmic dots or labeling on the apical cell membrane of the cells composing the epithelia with intestinal metaplasia (24/24; 100%) and carcinoma in situ (10/10; 100%) and in the epithelial cells of adenomas. In contrast, both HER2 (4/12; 33%) and B1R (1/12; 8.3%) showed a low expression in invasive gallbladder carcinomas. CONCLUSION: The up-regulation of HER2 and B1R in precursor lesions of gallbladder carcinoma suggests cross-talk between these two receptors that may be of importance in the modulation of cell proliferation in gallbladder carcinogenesis.

Prácticas clientelares y representaciones sociales en un barrio de la ciudad de Neuquén, Argentina
Matus, Ana;
Argumentos (México, D.F.) , 2007,
Abstract: this article inquires the way in which the provincial state of neuquén (interpenetrated with de hegemonic political party) turns out to be co-constitutive of the social network of the san lorenzo norte neighbourhood, embodied in the figure of the communitarian agent; there being generated a symbolic production destined to be occult their politically active side and simultaneously the brand of own state's partisan origin
Escuela de gobierno

Salud Colectiva , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1851-82652007000200007
Abstract: on may 27, 1998, carlos matus gave his second and last conference at the school of economic sciences of the university of buenos aires. he took up the argument of the first conference about the essential links between science and politics to arrive at what came to be the cause of his worries and one of his main contributions: government and how to build more government capability. it is precisely his proposal to create schools of government that focuses on the actor -the one who explains, knows, and makes estimations based upon an action plan- and enables the formation of the techno-political stratum of a society addressing the central issue -i.e., poor government capacity-, on the basis of horizontal action sciences and, in particular, the social game theory.
Las ciencias y la política

Abstract: latin america has made extremely valuable contributions to the development of planning as an instrument for government. carlos matus (1931-1998) in particular stands out as one of the main architects of what may be termed the "latin american strategic planning school". matus's contributions focus on the need to create a new type of sciences -the sciences and techniques of government-, thus conceiving of planning as a powerful means to govern rather than a tool for intellectual debate. therefore, matus persistently warns of the need to combine science and politics, in order to overcome the technocracy and improvised performance that characterize the governments in our countries. he made his main contribution by thinking of making a science for action and conceiving politics based on a theory of action. the following is one of the conferences delivered by professor carlos matus in the city of buenos aires, in 1998, in the framework of a set of academic activities he performed shortly before his death. with his usual clarity, matus reflects on the necessary and essential linkages between sciences and politics.

Argumentos (México, D.F.) , 2007,
