DurmuKILI
International Online Journal of Educational Sciences , 2010,
Abstract: The objective of this study was to assess dysfunctional attitudes of university students using personal variables such as gender; type of educational institute (i.e. which college faculty or school they currently attend, which type of high school they graduated from); perception of parents’ attitudes; and socio-economic level. The study was conducted in the academic year of 2009-2010, with a total of 501 students randomly selected from 10 different faculties of Atatürk University in Erzurum Turkey. Data were collected using the “Dysfunctional Attitude Scale, adapted to Turkey by ahin and ahin (1992). A “Personal Information Form” was given to the students for collecting data about personal, organizational and social variables. The t test, one-way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis analysis were used in data analysis. The findings indicated that the dysfunctional attitudes of university students varied significantly according to gender (t (499)= -2.623, p=.009), and the faculty they attended (F(9), 491)= 4.659, p=.000). Dysfunctional attitudes did not show significant differences in terms of students’ perception of their parents’ attitudes, socio-economic level and type of high school they graduated from.

Health (Health) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/health.2011.39101
Abstract: This study was conducted methodologically in order to determine the validity and reliability of Kogan’s Attitude towards Old People Scale after being adapted to the Turkish Society. 145 female students, attending the 4th and 5th year of the faculty of Medical Sciences at Atatürk University, and 118 nurses, working at Ataturk University Aziziye-Yakutiye Research Hospitals, were in-cluded in the study. The sample group was chosen from the population using a non-probability convenience sampling method. A form containing demographic characteristics of nurses and nursing students, and the Turkish version of Kogan’s Attitude towards Old People Scale were used to gather the required data. Data was analysed using the t-test, Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, correlation, and factor analyses. In the study, Cronbach’s Alpha Reliability Coefficient for Kogan’s Attitude towards Old People Scale was 0.81, and the scale comprised of one factor. The attitude of working nurses towards old people was more positive in comparison to the attitude of student nurses. After analysis, the scale was deemed highly valid and reliable, and suitable to be used for Turkish society. The scale may be used in studies to evaluative attitude toward old people and quality of the care offered to older people.

Abstract: In this study the letters that Prof. Dr. Ramazan Korkmaz wrote between the years 1976 and 2003 were evaluated in respect to thematic approach. These letters consist of those that Professor wrote during the years 1981-1985 when he was a student in Ataturk University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences department of Turkish Language and Literature, those that he did during the years when he was a Research Assistant in Turkish Language and Literature Department of F rat University and again those he wrote during theyears 1986-1989 when he completed his postgraduate education. It is obvious that an increasing idealism dominated his letters he wrote after doctorate in 1991 and those he wrote during his secondary and primary school years. In this article the letters in question consist overwhelmingly of those ones that Mr. Ramazan wrote to his relatives. Since the letters that he wrote to his friends and fellows are the subject of another study, they were excluded from this study. We think that if dates of the letters are read comparatively with Mr. Ramazan’s life, the expressions which were emphasized will be quite meaningful. Hocan n, doktora sonras nda yazd (1991) mektuplar ile ortaokul / lise y llar nda yazd mektuplar aras nda büyük bir idealizmin hakim oldu u ve artarak devam etti i g rülmü tür. Bu yaz ya konu edinilen mektuplar n büyük bir k sm Ramazan Bey’in akraba evresine yazd mektuplardan olu maktad r. Abstract: That fact that all languages had originated from one language, nobody can deny it. But, it isdifficult to determine the time and the place in which language come to existence, and to trace itsdevelopment process. That is a historical fact that in this process different cultural elements actedown part along the centuries and these elements also developed and changed gradually and in theend new languages came to out. So much so that, this consciousness of preparation can not existin that nation who is speaking that language. Language is being felt only at that time when itshowed its element of newness with writing. In this study we have presented the origin of UrduLanguage and its historical development process.

Reasons of the Collapse of Scythian Empire
?lhami Durmu
Journal of Gazi Academic View , 2008,
Abstract: Scythians had expanded over a large area from the Great Wall of China in the east to the Danube River in the west. Hanging down through Caucasia they had even shown their effectiveness on the Frontal-Asia. They had founded a powerful steppe empire which subsisted for a long period of time. Like many similar examples Scythian Empire had experienced such periods as the foundation, rise, decline and collapse. There were several reasons of the decandence of Scythian Empire namely geographic, demographic, economical, political and military. The empire had gradually lost its sovereignty as the percentage of its founding element in the total population decreased. Pasturages and the main trade centers got out of hand; new military equipments could not be developed and as a result the breakdown of the empire was quickened.

Journal of Gazi Academic View , 2007,
Abstract: In old Turkish society no social classes had occurred. There were no aristocrats, no freepeoples,no slaves. Classnessness had its effects on social, political, economical, military and judicialfields. Matters relating to the nation or the state were being discussed and brought to a conclusion inthe assemblies. The old Turks had a greatly developed sense of independence. Justice, utility, equalityand universality were immutable considerations in their juridical understanding. Atatürk knew quitewell the characteristics and the history of his nation. Fort hat reason he put forward the idea that “therepublican regime is the most favorable on efor the Turkish nation taking her nature and characterinto consideration.” As a vision depending upon justice, utility, equalty and universality had come intoexistance since the early times of Turkish history the republican regime was easily adopted. Classlesssocial structure, assemblies, elected administrators, giving importance to the priority of wisdom andscience are some of the peculiarities of Turkish nation which have been transmitted through history tothe present day.
On the Determinants and Inverses of Circulant Matrices with a General Number Sequence

Mathematics , 2012,
Abstract: The generalized sequence of numbers is defined by W_{n}=pW_{n-1}+qW_{n-2} with initial conditions W_{0}=a and W_{1}=b for a,b,p,q\inZ and n\geq2, respectively. Let W_{n}=circ(W_{1},W_{2},...,W_{n}). The aim of this paper is to establish some useful formulas for the determinants and inverses of W_{n} using the nice properties of the number sequences. Matrix decompositions are derived for W_{n} in order to obtain the results.
