Complete catalytic oxidation of benzene on Co3O4 catalysts supported on mesoporous molecular sieves

Abstract: Co3O4 catalysts supported on various mesoporous molecular sieves, including MCM-41, MCM-48 and SBA-15, were prepared by incipient wetness impregnation method, and these catalysts were characterized by Nitrogen adsorption-desorption, XRD and TPR techniques. Then the influences of cobalt loading and mesoporous molecular sieves on the catalytic activity of catalysts in the complete oxidation of benzene were investigated. The results show that the activity of the catalyst with 20% Co3O4 loading was the best. Besides, the pore diameter of the supports and the reducibility of the catalysts play a key role, and the activity of the cobalt catalysts on different supports is in the following order: Co3O4/SBA-15> Co3O4/MCM-41> Co3O4/MCM-48.
Cluster Analysis Based on Contextual Features Extraction for Conversational Corpus  [PDF]

Cluster analysis related to computational linguistics seldom concerned with Pragmatics level. Features of corpus on Pragmatics level related to specific situations, including backgrounds, titles and habits. To improve the accuracy of clustering for conversations collected from international students in Tsinghua University, it required contextual features. Here, we collected four-hundred conversations as a corpus and built it to Vector Space Model. With the Oxford-Duden Dictionary and other methods we modified the model and concluded into three groups. We testified our hypothesis through self-organizing map neural network. The result suggested that the modified model had a better outcome.

Optimization of Water Resource Management Using Chooser Option Contracts under Uncertainty  [PDF]

Abstract: Optimization of water resource management is very important to reduce water shortage risk and increase economic benefit. Water option can be used as a flexible instrument in water resource management. In this study, chooser options are designed for water managers to buy additional water in drought periods and sell redundant water in wet periods. To make optimal decisions under uncertainties including probability distributions and intervals, an inexact two-stage mixed-integer programming (ITSMIP) model is applied. To illustrate the role of chooser options in water resource management, a case study is presented. Factors which influence the willingness of buying the chooser options are analyzed and the optimal water allocation plans are also provided. The results demonstrate that chooser options can help water managers mitigate the impact of water shortage and increase utilization efficiency of water resource greatly.
Sparse Representation for Detection of Microcalcification Clusters

Abstract: To improve the performance of microcalcification clusters (MCs) detection, we present an approach to detect MCs in mammograms by casting the detection problem as finding sparse representations of test samples with respect to training samples. The ground truth training samples of MCs in mammograms are assumed to be known as a priori. The sparse representation is computed by the l1-regularized least square approach using the interior-point method. The new method based on sparse representation expresses each testing sample as a linear combination of all the training samples. The sparse coefficient vector is obtained by l1-regularized least square through learning. MCs classification is achieved by defining discriminating functions from the sparse coefficient vector for each category. To investigate its performance, the proposed method is applied to DDSM datasets and compared with support vector machines (SVMs) and twin support vector machines (TWSVMs). The experimental results have shown that the performance of the proposed method is comparable with or better than those methods. In addition, the proposed method is more efficient than SVMs and TWSVMs based methods as it has no need of model selection and parameter optimization.
Numerical Simulation on Effects of Electromagnetic Force on the Centrifugal Casting Process of High Speed Steel Roll  [PDF]

A three-dimensional mathematical and physical model coupling with the heat transfer and the flow of molten metal in the centrifugal casting of the high speed steel roll was established by using CFD software FLUENT. It can be used to analyze the distribution of the temperature filed and the flow filed in the centrifugal casting under the gravity, the electromagnetic stirring force and the centrifugal force. Some experiments were carried out to verify the above analysis results. The effects of the electromagnetic force on the centrifugal casting process are discussed. The results showed that under the 0.15 T electromagnetic field intensity, both the absolute pressure of metal flow to mold wall and the metal flow velocity on the same location have some differences between the electromagnetic centrifugal casting and the centrifugal casting. Numerical results for understanding the electromagnetic stirring of the centrifugal casting process have a guiding significance.
Higher-Order Numeric Solutions for Nonlinear Systems Based on the Modified Decomposition Method  [PDF]

Higher-order numeric solutions for nonlinear differential equations based on the Rach-Adomian-Meyers modified decomposition method are designed in this work. The presented one-step numeric algorithm has a high efficiency due to the new, efficient algorithms of the Adomian polynomials, and it enables us to easily generate a higher-order numeric scheme such as a 10th-order scheme, while for the Runge-Kutta method, there is no general procedure to generate higher-order numeric solutions. Finally, the method is demonstrated by using the Duffing equation and the pendulum equation.

Fiscal Decentralization, Corruption and Urban-Rural Income Inequality: Evidence from China  [PDF]

Abstract: This paper follows fiscal federalism that a higher degree of fiscal decentralization is always associated with lower corruption and income inequality. There exists a stronger dynamic relationship among fiscal decentralization, corruption and income inequality in developing countries. Based on the panel dataset from 1999 to 2012, this research is focusing on China, showing that it does not exist a simple linear relationship among fiscal decentralization, corruption and urban-rural income inequality, instead, the relationship between fiscal decentralization and urban-rural income inequality is more in line with a specific “U” shape. While the effect of corruption on urban-rural income inequality, it can be gradually weakened as the reform of fiscal decentralization which expands the existed researches made by Mah (2013) and Lessmann (2010).

Abstract: The study examines the effectiveness of different culture-oriented approaches to foster college English students’ awareness of cultural comparison in Chinese classrooms. A survey about college students’ status quo in English learning indicates that they are poor in western cultural knowledge, especially lack cultural comparative sense and ability. Therefore, based on the second language acquisition theory and the constructivism theory, the study aims at exploring some effective culture-oriented approaches to develop Chinese college English students’ cross-cultural communication ability. After a term’s experimental teaching in the author’s two classes, and data collection and analysis, it is concluded that the following approaches are effective: duty report, various classroom activities, self-access study, hosting the online instruction, etc.

Abstract: Equations of the reaction-diffusion type are very well known and have been extensively studied in many research areas. In this paper, the prolongation structures for the system of the reaction-diffusion type are investigated from theory of coverings. The realizations and the classifications of the one-dimensional coverings of the system are researched. And the corresponding conservation law of the one-dimensional Abelian coverings is concluded, which is closely connected with the symmetry of the system by Noether theorem.

Facing the phenomenon that the increasingly serious shortage of infrastructure causes urban problems, the government will introduce PPP mode to the field of city management, and it achieves good economic and social benefits to promote the sustainable development of PPP mode in city management. Based on the survey of Hangzhou Metro Line 1 and the travelling citizens and the analysis of SPSS data, we can know that the operation management of the later stage is the main reason that affects the sustainable development of PPP mode. Based on this, the paper proposes that in the operation management of the later stage, we should strive to improve the relevant supporting facilities and the quality of services, so as to enhance the public’s satisfaction to the project, thereby promoting the sustainable development of PPP mode in city management.
