Central Catadioptric Camera Calibration Based on Collinear Space Points

Abstract: For central catadioptric cameras, the projection of a space line is a conic segment, and most of the calibration methods using lines need conic fitting of line images, which highly affects the calibration accuracy. However, generally only a small segment of the conic is visible, which makes the conic fitting error-prone. In this paper, we derive a nonlinear constraint on all camera intrinsic parameters from the projections of any three collinear space points. With the principal point known, the constraint becomes linear for para-catadioptric cameras. With all other parameters known, the constraint becomes a polynomial constraint on the effective focal length. Based on this constraint, we propose three calibration algorithms under different conditions. The proposed algorithms need no conic fitting of line images, need no scene information, and the calibration accuracy is high. Experiments demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed algorithms.

Abstract: An adaptive bilateral filtering method based on mean shift algorithm is presented. The filter is governed by the kernel width in spatial domain, which controls the spatial extent of nearby data for filtering. Its kernel width in range domain is chosen adaptively by the local characteristic of the signal. It can remove impulsive noise and improve smoothing of non-impulsive noise with edges preserved. Comparisons with Gaussian filter and median filter were made. Applications to spectra signal processing show this method can suppress noises in spectra effectively and reduce the amount of smoothing near spectral lines.

Abstract: A novel method for redshift determination and spectral line identification of celestial spectra is presented, which is based on the knowledge of feature spectral lines. Firstly, definition of redshift candidate and feature spectral line candidate is given, and the candidates are cross-validated according to the definition; Secondly, the density is estimated at every redshift candidate by using the Parzen window technique; Finally, the average of redshift candidates in Parzen window of the redshift candidate with maximum density is the redshift, and the feature spectral line candidates corresponding to those redshift candidates are feature spectral lines. Compared with other methods of the same kind, this method has a lower dependence on the quality of spectral line extraction. Experiments show that this method is robust and the correct rate is encouraging.

Abstract: This paper introduces an affine invariant of trapezia, and the explicit constraint equation between the intrinsic matrix of a camera and the similarity invariants of a trapezium are established using the affine invariant. By this constraint, the inner parameters, motion parameters of the cameras and the similarity invariants of trapezia can be linearly determined using some prior knowledge on the cameras or the trapezia. The proposed algorithms have wide applicability since parallel lines are not rare in many scenes. Experimental results validate the proposed approaches. This work presents a unifying framework based on the parallelism constraint, and the previous methods based on the parallelograms or the parallelepipeds can be integrated into this framework.

Abstract: The article aims at the transformation mechanism between the internal and external supply in business. The transaction benefit comes from the saving of extra investment for self-production in internal supply chain. The transaction cost is introduced in the game model, which proves its equivalency to the mechanism. The ratio of the transaction cost and benefit is the indicator to determine the breakeven point for the transformation between the states of internal and external supply. An example is used to illustrate the principle.

Cloning and sequence analysis of TSEG-1, a novel gene specifically expressed in mouse testis

Abstract: The expressed sequence tags (ESTs) of normal mouse testis were obtained from online EST database ZooDDD. Their highly homologous EST sequences were found through the dbEST database to construct contigs, and spliced by the biomedical software Biolign. The corresponding exons and introns within genome sequences were predicted by software GeneScan. According to the open reading frame, the primers were designed. RT-PCR was applied in the cloning of novel gene from mouse testis and analyzing its expression pattern in various mouse tissues. The bioinformatics analysis on the sequencing results of TSEG-1 was conducted. Results indicated that a novel gene TSEG-1 was cloned from 1 668-2 011 kb of mouse X chromosome, with full-length sequence of 510 bp. The open reading frame (ORF) is 336 bp in length and en-codes a deduced amino acid sequence of 111 residues. The molecular weight of TSEG-1 protein is 12.84258 kDa, and its pI is 11.4000. RT-PCR demonstrated the correctness of its ORF. TSEG-1 was distinctively expressed in testis, but not in other tissues of mouse. No obvious homology with other mouse cDNA was found for TSEG-1. The GenBank accession number EU079024 was achieved. It was predicted that TSEG-1 is a kind of transmembrane protein, and the transmembrane domain is from 41 amino acid residue to 61 amino acid residue. Blastn analysis revealed its high homology to human testis-specific gene H2AX. Computational prediction of the 5'-untranslated region of TSEG-1 gene revealed a 680 bp-length promoter region. There are four antigen binding sites and two phosphorylation sites of specific protein kinase in TSEG-1 protein, with subcellular localization in mitochondria. The cloning of mouse testis specific gene TSEG-1 laid a foundation for subsequent research of its biological function and expression regulation.

Abstract: In the past 40 years, software engineering has emerged as an important sub-field of computer science and has made significant contribution to the software industry. Now it is gradually becoming a new independent discipline. This paper presents a survey of software engineering development from a research perspective. Firstly, the history of software engineering is reviewed with focus on the driving forces of software technology, the software engineering framework and the milestones of software engineering development. Secondly, after reviewing the past academic efforts, the current research activities are surveyed and new challenges brought by Internet are analyzed. Software engineering researches and activities in China are also reviewed. The work in Peking University is described as a representative.
An outbreak of hepatitis A associated with a contaminated well in a middle school, Guangxi, China

Abstract: Background: In May 2012, an outbreak of viral hepatitis A was reported to the Guangxi Center for Disease Control and Prevention from a middle school in Liujiang County. An investigation was conducted to identify the cause and mode of transmission and to recommend control and prevention measures.Methods: A case was defined as any person from the middle school with onset of fatigue, anorexia, abdominal pain, diarrhoea or jaundice from 20 February to 20 May 2012. We compared attack rates (AR) between boys and girls, assuming that only boys used well water and girls used pipeline water. We then selected 133 students from three classes in each of the three grades to compare AR by reported water source and drinking history.Results: There were 22 cases, an AR of 3.8% (21/553) for students and 1.5% for teachers (1/65). Those who used well water were 8.7 (95% confidence interval [CI] = 2.1–37.2) times more likely to be ill than those using pipeline water. The cohort study showed that students who reported using well water daily were 5.2 (95% CI = 0.7–41.8) times more likely to be ill than those that reported using the pipeline water daily. Eighteen cases were confirmed as hepatitis A.Conclusion: This hepatitis A outbreak was potentially caused by a contaminated school well. We recommended that the school discontinue using the well and that the students should drink boiled water. As there is a vaccine for hepatitis A, we recommended that several doses of the vaccine be stored for controlling outbreaks and for immunizing susceptible populations in future outbreaks.
