Product-Customization and Payment Policy with Postponement Strategy  [PDF]

Journal of Service Science and Management (JSSM) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/jssm.2013.61001

Manufacturers adopting postponement strategy can lower operational cost and quickly respond customers’ personalized demands. Adopting postponement strategy, however, has often led manufacturers to situations of higher risk of holding exclusive material in the customization stage. For example, customers prefer to order flexibly from manufacturers so as to be able to respond flexibly to their custom changes. Manufacturers, on the other hand, prefer customers to place full orders as early as possible so that they can hedge against the risks of under-production, especially in the customer order decoupling point (CODP) downstream. Motivated by this problem, we model a dynamic cost model in this paper to evaluate the risks and benefits. Using the Logistic curve, we develop a payment policy for manufacturer adopting postponement strategy in the CODP downstream. Our research demonstrates that, compared with the payment policy of product completed, payment in stages according to product-customization can coordinate conflict between manufacturers and customers in the process of adopting postponement strategy manufacturing system. We also discuss variation of CODP positioning, total cost and payment when rate of return changes.

Abstract: Immediately after infusion with the P2X7R antagonists Brilliant blue G (BBG), adenosine 5′-triphosphate-2′,3′-dialdehyde (OxATP) or A-438079, 20 minutes of transient global cerebral I/R was induced using the four-vessel occlusion (4-VO) method in rats. Survival rate was calculated, neuronal death in the hippocampal CA1 region was observed using H & E staining, and DNA cleavage was observed by deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated UTP nick end labeling TUNEL). In addition, behavioral deficits were measured using the Morris water maze, and RT-PCR and immunohistochemical staining were performed to measure the expression of IL-1β, TNF-α and IL-6, and to identify activated microglia and astrocytes. The P2X7R antagonists protected against transient global cerebral I/R injury in a dosage-dependent manner. A high dosage of BBG (10?μg) and A-0438079 (3?μg), and a low dosage of OxATP (1?μg) significantly increased survival rates, reduced I/R-induced learning memory deficit, and reduced I/R-induced neuronal death, DNA cleavage, and glial activation and inflammatory cytokine overexpression in the hippocampus. Our study indicates that inhibiting P2X7Rs protects against transient global cerebral I/R injury by reducing the I/R-induced inflammatory response, which suggests inhibition of P2X7Rs may be a promising therapeutic strategy for clinical treatment of transient global cerebral I/R injury.
The Pricing of Luxury Goods: A BPM Approach
Qiang Du
International Journal of Business and Management , 2009, DOI: 10.5539/ijbm.v4n4p22
Abstract: This paper discussed how to understand the price of a luxury good from BPM perspective. BPM provides us a comprehensive framework to explain the pricing mechanism of luxury goods. Based on BPM, an index (IVDI) was compiled to probe how much the price of a luxury good relies on the utilitarian reinforcement. IVDI also provides profound implications to marketers when they promote different luxury goods. Different parts of BPM are linked together, as a whole they will influence a customer’s entire buying process.
Bose-Einstein condensate: critical velocities and energy diagrams in the Thomas-Fermi regime
Amandine Aftalion,Qiang Du
Physics , 2001, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevA.64.063603
Abstract: For a Bose-Einstein condensate placed in a rotating trap and confined in the z axis, we set a framework of study for the Gross-Pitaevskii energy in the Thomas Fermi regime. We investigate an asymptotic development of the energy, the critical velocities of nucleation of vortices with respect to a small parameter $\ep$ and the location of vortices. The limit $\ep$ going to zero corresponds to the Thomas Fermi regime. The non-dimensionalized energy is similar to the Ginzburg-Landau energy for superconductors in the high-kappa high-field limit and our estimates rely on techniques developed for this latter problem. We also take the advantage of this similarity to develop a numerical algorithm for computing the Bose-Einstein vortices. Numerical results and energy diagrams are presented.
Computing the ground state solution of Bose-Einstein condensates by a normalized gradient flow
Weizhu Bao,Qiang Du
Physics , 2003,
Abstract: In this paper, we prove the energy diminishing of a normalized gradient flow which provides a mathematical justification of the imaginary time method used in physical literatures to compute the ground state solution of Bose-Einstein condensates (BEC). We also investigate the energy diminishing property for the discretization of the normalized gradient flow. Two numerical methods are proposed for such discretizations: one is the backward Euler centered finite difference (BEFD), the other one is an explicit time-splitting sine-spectral (TSSP) method. Energy diminishing for BEFD and TSSP for linear case, and monotonicity for BEFD for both linear and nonlinear cases are proven. Comparison between the two methods and existing methods, e.g. Crank-Nicolson finite difference (CNFD) or forward Euler finite difference (FEFD), shows that BEFD and TSSP are much better in terms of preserving energy diminishing property of the normalized gradient flow. Numerical results in 1d, 2d and 3d with magnetic trap confinement potential, as well as a potential of a stirrer corresponding to a far-blue detuned Gaussian laser beam are reported to demonstrate the effectiveness of BEFD and TSSP methods. Furthermore we observe that the normalized gradient flow can also be applied directly to compute the first excited state solution in BEC when the initial data is chosen as an odd function.
The bifurcation diagrams for the Ginzburg-Landau system for superconductivity
Amandine Aftalion,Qiang Du
Physics , 2001, DOI: 10.1016/S0167-2789(01)00385-2
Abstract: In this paper, we provide the different types of bifurcation diagrams for a superconducting cylinder placed in a magnetic field along the direction of the axis of the cylinder. The computation is based on the numerical solutions of the Ginzburg-Landau model by the finite element method. The response of the material depends on the values of the exterior field, the Ginzburg-Landau parameter and the size of the domain. The solution branches in the different regions of the bifurcation diagrams are analyzed and open mathematical problems are mentioned.
