Abstract: RESUMENSe realizó una revisión bibliográfica de plaguicidas (insecticidas) usados en Salud Pública, especialmente en la Campa a de Vigilancia y Lucha Antivectorial, a partir de la década del 70 hasta el presente; tratándose en lo fundamental los cambios, evolución y aparición de nuevos productos, con el objetivo de ofrecer varios temas actualizados de gran utilidad para los trabajadores vinculados a la campa a, entre estos temas se encuentran: su historial, concepto y diferentes clasificaciones, teniendo en cuenta varios parámetros o características se resaltó entre ellas su aplicación a plagas específicas, acción residual, modo de penetración al vector, periodo de vida del insecto sobre el que actúa y naturaleza química, clasificación de estos últimos en orgánicos e inorgánicos y su formulación, sustancias inertes , toxicidad de los plaguicidas, dosis letal media (DL50), acción de los insecticidas sobre el hombre; así como indicaciones a cumplir por los trabajadores que de una forma u otra están vinculados con la transportación, manipulación y aplicación de insecticidas, concluyendo con las premisas que deben ser cumplidas para el logro de los resultados esperados en un tratamiento adulticida.
Alteraciones Neuro-funcionales y Neuro-endocrinas en una Cohorte de Pacientes que cursan con Trastorno por Estrés Post Traumático

Abstract: El trastorno por estrés post traumático (TEPT) se perfila en la actualidad como una patología emergente debido a las condiciones de vida modernas cada vez más exigentes y al énfasis epidemiológico y en salud mental por pesquisar las consecuencias de traumas cotidianos, como de aquellos derivados de conflictos bélicos o de la acción de fuerzas de seguridad y orden ciudadanos. Se describe que aproximadamente un 8% de quienes sufren un trauma experimentarán un cuadro clínico compatible con TEPT. Sin embargo, la larga duración y frecuente cronicidad de estos casos demanda un enorme esfuerzo al equipo de salud y costos elevados a los organismos que acogen a estos pacientes. El presente trabajo tiene por objetivo realizar un estudio neuro-funcional, clínico y de laboratorio en una muestra de 7 pacientes que cursan con un cuadro compatible con TEPT.Método: Se evaluó clínicamente a 7 pacientes que cursaban con TEPT, aplicándoseles una escala de evaluación para esta patología (Escala de Davidson) y el inventario de depresión de Beck. Se obtuvieron muestras de sangre con el objeto de evaluar los niveles de cortisol plasmático y hormonas tiroideas T3, T4 y TSH. Finalmente, los sujetos fueron evaluados a partir de la técnica de neuro SPECT delineándose una serie de Regiones e Interés (ROI) involucradas en la neurobiología del TEPT.Resultados: Se reportan para todos los pacientes de la cohorte estudiada valores elevados en escala Davidson para TEPT y en la escala de Beck para depresión (91.85 y 25.28 respectivamente). Se describen valores promedios normales de cortisol plasmático y de hormonas tiroideas T3, T4 y TSH (17.35 ug/dl, 1.34 ng/ml, 6,98 ug/dl y 2,95 uUI/ml respectivamente). Destaca la presencia de hiper-cortisolemia en tres de los pacientes estudiados. Los hallazgos neuro-funcionales se caracterizan por una hiper-perfusión a nivel de córtex fronto-parietal e hipo-perfusión en sistema límbico, dichos hallazgos se replicaron de un modo consistente en la muestra estudiada. Se hipotetiza el probable rol de una disfunción de barrera hemato-encefálica secundaria a fenómenos inflamatorios, como sustrato etiológico de los hallazgos reportados. Abstract: Progressive Recent Memory loss is the main complaint in Alzheimer’s disease patients. There is not a simple or congruous explanation yet due to highly complex mechanisms by which the Central Nervous System store and organize experiences every day, developed along 4 billion years of evolution; thereby learning and memory are poorly understood biological processes. The finding of the unsuspected intrinsic property of melanin to transforms light into chemical energy through water dissociation, as chlorophyll in plants; opens a new and wider horizon in the form in which the CNS generate and distribute chemical energy transporting it through molecular hydrogen produced by substantia nigra of mesencephalon and other pigmented structures. The mechanisms by which human modifies their behavior through learning and memory remain a mystery despite several decades of research. However, the?unexpected role of melanin molecule bioenergetics of first order, very above the chlorophyll and glucose, indicates?that the study of the fascinating processes involved in learning and memory several levels, needs to be started with the study of the generation and distribution of energy neuro-melanin-releasing to all the brain. In this article, we explain succinctly, the way hydrogen molecular (H2)-gas-, from the dissociation of water by the neuro melanin, moves from its source and permeates easily through the different structures of the Central Nervous System, as well as be the smaller atom, does not combine with water, moving through it in accordance with the laws of the simple diffusion. Molecular hydrogen is the main carrier of energy that nature uses in the entire universe, so that, once the neuro melanin separates it from the water, this displaces transporting its precious cargo of energy and its remarkable antioxidant capacity capable of reduce oxygen and form water.

Abstract: The derivations of climate change on cities and their activities depend on their capacity for adaptation and mitigation. In this sense, it has long recognized the influence of cities on their own climate, which is typically warmer than the surrounding. This phenomenon called urban heat island (UHI) has a number of impacts on air quality, water demand and energy. Since the fourth IPCC assessment report indicates the need for urban centers devoting efforts to adaptation to reduce the risks of direct and indirect impacts of climate change. The same organization recognizes the urban planning as a tool to seek such order. However, it also recognizes that the current scale of climate models cannot provide a representation of urban areas. This paper explores the intensification of the UHI, its relationship with urban expansion and its impact on housing in the city of Mexicali, B.C. Its aim is to determine its impact and mitigation potential through analysis and modeling of urban structure, expressed in use and land cover, as well as the implementation of mitigation strategies. The results show on the one hand, the convenience of using dynamic modeling as a tool applied to urban planning with a focus on mitigation and adaptation to climate change. Furthermore, regarding the implementation of strategies, the results show that most efficiency is obtained when applied generally, this is, considering green and cool roofs, cool pavements and afforestation as part of urbanization process, otherwise, only partial results are achieved. Overall, housing land use has significant potential to mitigate the UHI in the city.

Abstract: Se realizó la revisión del género Crotalaria para Venezuela, con la finalidad de actualizarlo taxonómicamente. La metodología se basó en la revisión de bibliografía, en el estudio y descripciones detalladas de los rasgos morfológicos de las especies, lo que permitió su identificación con el apoyo de las exsiccata depositadas en los herbarios nacionales, así como los tipos; además, se realizaron salidas de campo para enriquecer las colecciones del Herbario Nacional de Venezuela (VEN) y los herbarios regionales. Se determinaron 17 especies y dos variedades (C. maypurensis var. depauperata y C. maypurensis var. maypurensis) distribuidas en el territorio venezolano en un rango altitudinal de 30-1800 m. C. paulina se consolida como nuevo registro para la flora de Venezuela. Se indican descripciones de las especies, acompa adas de clave, ilustraciones del hábito y de las estructuras reproductivas, y se menciona información sobre los usos, el hábitat y la distribución. The review of Crotalaria genus to Venezuela was made in order to update the taxonomical information. The methodology was based on review of literature, the study and detailed descriptions of morphological features of the species, which allowed its identification with the support of the exsiccata placed on the national herbaria, as well as the types; in addition, field trips were done to enrich the collections of the National Herbarium of Venezuela (VEN) and regional herbaria. Seventeen species and two varieties (C. maypurensis var. depauperata and C. maypurensis var. maypurensis) were identified distributed in the Venezuelan territory in a 30-1800 m altitudinal range. C. paulina is consolidated as new record for the flora of Venezuela. The descriptions of the species are accompanied by key, illustrations of the habit of the reproductive structures, and the uses, habitat, phenology and distribution of the species are mentioned.

Abstract: This paper presents hybrid fuzzy logic and neural network algorithm to solve credit risk management problem. Credit risk is the risk of loss due to a debtor’s non-payment of a loan or other line of credit. A method of evaluating the credit worthiness of a customer is complex and non-linear due to the diverse combinations of risk involve. To address this problem a credit scoring method is proposed in this paper using hybrid fuzzy logic-neural network (HFNN) model. The model will be implemented, tested, and validated for individual auto loans using real life bank data. The neural network is used as the learner and the fuzzy logic is used as the implementer. The neural network will fine tune the fuzzy sets, remove redundant input variables, and extract fuzzy rules. The extracted fuzzy rules are evaluated to retain the best k number of rules that will give final and intelligent decisions. The experiment results show that the perform-ance of the proposed HFNN model is very accurate, robust, and reliable. Comparison of these results to other previous published works is also presented in this paper.

A complete degeneration of the moduli of $G$-bundles on a curve

Abstract: For a semi simple group G it is known the moduli stack of principal G-bundles over a fixed nodal curve is not complete. Finding a completion requires compactifying the group G. However it was shown in [34] that this is not sufficient to complete the moduli stack over a family of curves. In this paper I describe how to use an embedding of the loop group LG to provide a completion of the stack of G-bundles over a one dimensional family of curves degenerating to a nodal curve. The completion comes with a modular interpretation inspired by the work of Gieseker, Seshadri, Kausz and Thaddeus and Martens.
