LONG VOWEL OF EAST TRAKYA DIALECTS / DO U TRAKYA A IZLARINDA UZUN üNLüLER
Dr. Levent DO?AN
Turkish Studies , 2008,
Abstract: The region called East Thrace is in the northwest of Turkey. Theeast branch of Rumelia dialect is spoken in the cities which are in thisregion. East Thrace dialects include the dialects of Gacal, Dagl , Pomakand immigrants. It is quite difficult to define the boundaries of thesedialects due to insufficient studies. However, it might be possible todetermine the boundaries of the dialects through some phoneticcharacteristics such as long vowels.Turkish has primary and secondary wovel lenghts. Primary longwovel exists in the contemporary Turkish ( Turkey Turkish) dialects, though not much. Wheras secondary long wovel carries on its being to alarge extent.

Turkish Studies , 2008,
Abstract: The region called East Thrace is in the northwest ofTurkey. The east branch of Rumelia dialect is spoken in thecities which are in this region. Rumelia dialects of the eastregion have not been studied scientifically enough. East Thracedialects include the dialects of Gacal, Dagl , Pomak andimmigrants. Even though these dialects keep theircharacteristics, they are on the edge of making up a commondialect by influencing each other. Not all the optative suffixesare used in these dialects. Optative meaning is correspondedby impretive suffixes. While East Thrace dialects appear tohave a common dialect characteristic, at the same time theygain the characteristics of Istanbul Turkish.

Turkish Studies , 2012,
Abstract: Prepositions are the auxilary words that have no meaning alone but gain meaning with the words they are used with. Turkish is a preposition rich language. There are a lot of prepositions in Uigur Turkish. In this study we 've indicated the use of prepositions ' i ,gu, ze' ,which are used to strengthen, consolidate, increase the meaning, and the meaning they added to the words they are used with. We've also indicated that although they are used at the end structurally, when they are taken into consideration with their meanings, u, gu, ze are used as if they are different kinds of prepositons such as connective and sentence beginning prepositions. Turkish Studies , 2009,
Abstract: Literary works can take place in another literarywork in different ways, and they can direct its formation.Selim leri uses some literary works in some of his novelswhich he wrote after 1990. Known headed writers ofTurkish literature who wrote in the late Ottoman periodand early Republic period, social and polictical relations in those writers’ period and conventional world in theseworks became materials for his novels. Selim leri doesthis because he wants the resurrection of a past period, alost culture and a past literature that was approachedungratefully. He wants to form a conscious. Usingliterature as a material for novel in selim leri’s novelsputs pressure on limits of novel genre.
THE EDUCATION BASED JUSTICE, THE STATE AND THE HEAD OF STATE DOCTRINE IN NIZAMI GENCEVI’S WORKS / NIZAMI GENCEVI’NIN ESERLERINDE E ITIM EKSENLI ADALET, DEVLET VE HüKüMDAR RETISI
Dr. Süleyman DO?AN
Turkish Studies , 2008,
Abstract: Nizami Gencevi, whose real name was lyas wasborn in Gence, Azerbaijan in 1141, he also died in this cityin 1209. As a result of his strong interest in science, artand his knowledge of many languages, he dealt withdifferent scientific fields, (philosophy, literature, astronomy, medicine, geometry, …) world civilization, basically Greek, Arabic, Persian and also the history ofCaucasian public at the same time. Starting from theworks of Nizami Gencevi, first of all, I tried to unify thehead of state model with justice in my education basedreport.Nizami Gencevi points out that the main principlein a society that is awake is the social harmony andjustice.Secondly, I tried to explain justice, by examplesand concerning the current aspects again starting from theworks of Nizami. Government is in power not to leave thecommunity that it represents to the ferocity of the enemygroups, fighting each other. Its most important mission –the reason of its existance – is to maintain public securityand to spread justice.Thirdly, Nizami, the artist, as if modelling the stateby examples, wrote a great refined poem ‘Heft-Peyker’ inorder to suggest that the state is an institution in power tobring justice. The philosopher and poet Nizami Genceviexpresses justice with these lines shortly, and to the point.

It was developed as a result of begin influencedby Erwin Piscator’s theatre understanding affected by thepolitical, social and economic strains after the First WorldWar. In Turkish theatre, the first epical plays were writtenin 1960’s by Haldun Taner. He was followed by Vas f ng ren, Sermet a an, Oktay Aray c , smet Küntay andTurhan Sel uk.In this article Bertolt Brecht and epical theatre isexplained and its influences to Turkish theatre are clarified. The epical theater plays written by Haldun Taner,Vas f ng ren and Sermet a an are introduced.

ENHANCED WINTER HARDINESS IN COMMON VETCH (VICIA SATIVA L.) FOR AUTUMN-SOWING IN THE CENTRAL HIGHLANDS OF TURKEY
H FIRINCIO?LU,Eraslan ERBEKTA?,Levent DO?RUYOL,Sabahaddin üNAL
Journal of Central European Agriculture , 2010,
Abstract: In central Turkey, common vetch is planted in spring, but frequent droughts cause crop failures. Autumn-sown vetch has more yield potential; but then winter killing is a major problem. Therefore, winter hardiness is a central requirement for successful vetch production. This study comprised two phases. First, eighteen lines out of 164 accessions were selected for their superiority, primarily for winter hardiness and earliness in 1999/00. Second, the selected lines along two local checks (var. Sar El i and cv. KaraEl i) were evaluated for yield performances in multi-year trials established in autumn and spring from 2000 to 2003. Autumn-sown vetch displayed 14.9% greater yield potential than spring vetch. As winter mortality decreased, seed yield increased in two cold environments (r2=0.41 and r2=0.54). The two genotypes (L-1430 and L-1548) showed the greatest stability across six environments, while L-581 and L-1544 were the best lines for autumn sowing. In conclusion, the level of variation found in the base populations did clearly show potential for further development, and multi-environment trials singled out the V. sativa genotypes with enhanced winter hardiness.
Phenotypic variation of Vicia pannonica Crantz (var. pannonica and var purpurascens ) in central Turkey

Journal of Central European Agriculture , 2011, DOI: 10.5513/jcea01/12.1.882
Abstract: Hungarian vetch (Vicia pannonica Crantz.) is an important forage crop in both central Turkey (CT) and central European countries. It can be grown in CT as winter crop, but frequent spring droughts cause yield losses. Our objectives were (I) to investigate agro-biological variation among populations, (II) to identify useful plant characters and (III) to develop selection strategies. Forty-five accessions of both var. pannonica and var. purpurascens were evaluated for the 11 plant characters in 2002/03 cropping season. Var. pannonica was late flowering, had more stems and seeds per pod, and longer stems and pods. Var. purpurascens had earlier flowering, more days to physiological maturity, more pods, greater plant biomass and heavier seeds. As var. purpurascens was early flowering, its longer seed-filling period is likely to contribute to greater seed size and weight. However, in var. pannonica, late flowering and ensuing delayed maturity caused strong negative associations between days-toharvest and other characters. If the earliness, higher biomass and seed size from var. purpurascens, and the many long stems and long pods from var. pannonica could be incorporated into one or more genotypes through Mendelian crossings, seed and hay yields would be substantially increased.
