Abstract: This paper deals with the removal of noise and base wander in the transfer of ECG data from the patients to the doctor. The process of the project is receiving ECG signals from the patient and reading the data in PC using an Arduino (an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on flexible, easy-to-use hardware and software) board, and then the signal is subjected to the removal of noise and base wander by amplification circuits in LabView (a system design software) software. Thus obtained ECG signal is sent to the doctors using an Ethernet cable or LAN connection. This enables the doctors to monitor any number of patients more accurately by sitting in a single room.

Abstract: The effect of retrogression and re-aging (RRA) on the strength and corrosion performance was evaluated for AA 7049 aluminium alloy. Samples from extruded profiles were treated to T6 and T73 temper. Also Retrogression was performed at four different temperatures between 1800C – 2400C for various times followed by re-aging at1200C. The properties like ultimate tensile strength (UTS), hardness and conductivity measurement,intergrannular corrosion and exfoliation studies are presented. The results of experimental work indicate thatRRA treatment enhances the strength equivalent to or greater than AA 7049 at T6 temper and exfoliation corrosion resistance comparable to T73 temper.
Thermal Analysis on Butt Welded Aluminium Alloy AA7075 Plate Using FEM

Abstract: Thermo-mechanical finite element analysis has been performed to assess the residual stress in the butt weld joints of aluminium Alloy AA7075 plates by utilizing the commercial software package ABAQUS. This paper presents an efficient FE technique using equivalent load to precisely predict welding deformations and residual stresses in butt joints. The radial heat flux distribution is considered on the top surface of the weldment. Convective and radiative heat losses are taken into account through boundary conditions for the outward heat flux. Linear FE transient thermal analysis is performed using surface heat source model with Gaussian distribution to compute highest temperature in AA7075 plates. The objective of this project is to simulate the welding process by using the finite element method. After the model is built and verified, the main objective of this project is to study the effects of varying the welding process parameters on the thermo-mechanical responses. In addition to that, the aim of this research is also to find a relationship between welding parameters and the responses of single pass butt welding are evaluated through the finite element analysis. The study of this paper covers the effects of varying heat input, welding speed on the thermo-mechanical responses of the weldment after cooling down to room temperature.

Abstract: The velocity fields and the associated tangential tractions corresponding to the flow induced by a flat plate that applies a specified stress in an Oldroyd-B fluid are determined by means of Fourier cosine transforms. The solutions corresponding to a Maxwell, second-grade, and Navier-Stokes fluid appear as limiting cases of the solutions established here.
Enhancement of emission characteristics of a direct injection diesel engine through porous medium combustion technique

Abstract: In this research work, a direct injection diesel engine with the implementation of porous medium combustion technique has been investigated for performance and emission characteristics. The porous medium combustion technique has been established in the present work by the introduction of porous ceramic material into the combustion chamber. The nitrogen oxide and soot emission of porous medium engine are found to be lower to that of conventional engine. However the soot emissions are higher in the porous medium engine under part load conditions.

Abstract: In recent times, homogeneous combustion has been a proven technology to attain high efficient and low emission engines. Homogenous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engines are able to have efficiencies as high as Compression Ignition, Direct Injection (CIDI) engines, while producing ultra-low emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM).HCCI combustion is achieved by controlling the temperature, pressure and composition of the fuel-air mixture so that it spontaneously gets ignited in the combustion chamber. Numeroustechniques such as Variable Exhaust Gas Recirculation (VEGR), ariable Compression Ratio (VCR) and Variable Valve Timing (VVT) have been proposed to control the homogeneous combustion inside the engine cylinder. Even though these techniques are attractive and having good time response, they are too expensive to afford. This paper investigates the performance, combustion and emission characteristics of a Direct Injection (DI) diesel engine under HCCI mode which is established through an effective and affordable technique called Porous Medium Combustion (PMC).
