Abstract: this article explains the circumstances in which took place the training of sanitarian nurses at the school of public health of mexico from its beginning in the early 20th century to the end of the first decade of the 21th century. the frame for the analysis were the different periods of the health-illness process, which means: sanitarian or pre-microbial, micro-biologist, epidemiology and health systems and new public health, and also the presidential governments to which the authors refer through some events that were transcendental for the population's health and for the development of the national health system. they point out the milestones of the origin and development of public health nursing and, at the same time, they document the participation of the national school o public health in the country's achievements during the last century. finally they raise the challenges that the programs of nursing in public health will soon face in order to improve the health conditions of the mexican population.

Abstract: objective: to identify dominant and preferred organizational culture models at second level nursing services in morelos. material and methods: a cross-sectional study was conducted between april and june, 2008. nursing caregivers from public health services of morelos state participated. we gathered and analyzed data about socioeconomic characteristics and organizational culture, and we applied the xi2 and kappa coefficient statistical tests using stata version 10 software. results: we interviewed 30 nurses, randomly selected from a total of 397, with at least one year of seniority. it was identified that the dominant organizational culture is one of power and the preferred culture is one of performance. a kappa positive coefficient of 0.17 (p = 0.047) was found between the dominant model and the preferred performance model. conclusions: identifying said organizational culture models helps to understand performance differences in the management of nursing care services currently provided to users of the hospital and to aspire to improvements in the service itself.

A Simple Detection System for Two Classical Sagnac Interferometer Configurations  [PDF]

Engineering (ENG) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/eng.2012.412114
Abstract: Two interferometric systems were built, one in bulk optics and other one in fiber optics for showing the instrumentation stage designed for these devices, supported in a photodetector. This stage has a circuit for amplification, analog filtering and software for single channel data acquisition and digital filtering. Based on the Sagnac effect in bulk optics and in fiber optics, the Sagnac interferometer has many applications, nevertheless the methods of construction, design and instrumentation for the sensors used on both types of interferometers are well-known, but very common or general form, for this reason this work approaches some of the methodologies for the design and construction of these devices, obtaining higher sensitivity and better contribution in its respective interferometric paths. We used the simplest design for each interferometer, proposing the best detection limit for each one; to obtain the previous thing, we implement the three previous steps: amplifiers and analogous filters, software for filtering the digital sign. The data acquisition method used to allow us to obtain faster results, using the card of a PC, getting real time measurements and digital processing of the signal.

Memorializing La Lupe and Lavoe: Singing Vulgarity, Transnationalism, and Gender
Frances R. Aparicio,Wilson A. Valentín-Escobar
Centro Journal , 2004,
Abstract: This essay serves as countermemory, as it reclaims the historical role of two late Latin singers, Guadalupe Victoria Yoli Raimond, known as La Lupe, and Héctor Lavoe Pérez, in the development of Latin music in the United States and in the construction of a Puerto Rican national identity, in the case of Lavoe, and of a Caribbean Latino community in the Diaspora, with respect to La Lupe. Most recently, younger generations of salsa singers such as Yolanda Duke, La India, Marc Anthony, and Van Lester, have mimetically embodied La Lupe and Lavoe, respectively, by recreating their singing styles, their repertoires, and their personae. Why are Puerto Ricans and Caribbean Latinos/as memorializing these two particular singers? While also shaped by gender politics, Lavoe and La Lupe s countercultural positionings articulate the complex process of forming oppositional identities whereby their personal lives and stage personae remit audiences, in metonymic ways, to the constructed illegality of being a Latino in the United States. Their respective social marginalities contribute to their canonization as musical and countercultural heroes while simultaneously triggering posthumous performances of countermemory. While Lavoe has been canonized and integrated into the masculine genealogy of Puerto Rican national musical forms, La Lupe s struggles with the industry revealed her structured secondariness as a female interpreter and artist in a male-dominated world. Transcending the mere reflexivity of music and identity, we also argue that the act and process of memorializing both La Lupe and Lavoe are re-creations and reconstructions of the Puerto Rican/Latino/a imaginary by incorporating the diasporic narrative into the traditional inscriptions of the nation.

Experimental Results of the Superluminescent Fiber Laser Sources for Fiber Optic Sensors
E. F. Pinzón-Escobar,G. E. Sandoval-Romero
Journal of applied research and technology , 2012,
Abstract: We are presenting experimental work on an erbium-doped fiber operating in the superluminescent regime. Experimental results for different pump power levels and fiber length show that the theoretical and numerical model could render useful information for predicting the total output power as a function of fiber doped length and the input pump power. These types of sources could have direct application in wavelength multiplexed arrangements of fiber sensors, fiber gyroscopes or, in general, in any sensors in which a broad wavelength and stable light source is required.
