Abstract: this research note is the result of a qualitative study in porto alegre, rio grande do sul, brazil, aimed at exploring traffic accident risk from the motorcycle couriers' point of view. the research results highlight the importance of accident prevention and health promotion for these workers. the study was based on sociological theories of risk, especially those emphasizing the social and cultural nature of its meanings. information was gathered through focus groups and analyzed according to the data-based theory. according to the research subjects, all motorcycle couriers, the traffic accident risk is inherent to their daily work duties and is produced by personal and social interests like money, speed, and urgency. motorcycle couriers attempt to control such risks by using self-defense strategies. considering the high incidence of traffic accidents with motorcycle couriers in porto alegre, these strategies have apparently not been effective. this note emphasizes that traffic accidents involving motorcycle couriers are work-related accidents, and that health promotion measures to prevent them should target not only the couriers themselves but also their employers and customers.

Abstract: O artigo faz um recorte na análise realizada em um estudo qualitativo, desenvolvido em 2009, cujo objetivo foi investigar a demanda de pedidos de socorro ao Servi o de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência/Porto Alegre (SAMU), por ele classificada como n o pertinente. As informa es foram obtidas em 16 entrevistas semiestruturadas, realizadas com os solicitantes desta demanda, utilizando-se, como orienta o metodológica, a Teoria Fundamentada nos Dados. O artigo aborda o conteúdo da subcategoria "Entrando em conflito com a regula o do SAMU na avalia o do risco de vida", enfocando as divergências entre a regula o e a percep o dos usuários sobre o funcionamento do servi o e significado de "risco de vida", fatores implicados na constru o da demanda n o pertinente. A importancia da Enfermagem, neste cenário, está na sua competência para realizar a es de educa o em primeiros socorros e para participar de projetos intersetoriais capazes de intervir em situa es geradoras de vulnerabilidade. El artículo hace un corte del análisis en un estudio cualitativo desarrollado en 2009 cuyo objetivo fue investigar la demanda de pedidos de socorro al Servicio de Atendimiento Móvil de Urgencia/Porto Alegre (SAMU) que la clasificó como no pertinente. Las informaciones resultaron de 16 entrevistas semiestructuradas con los sujetos de esta demanda, utilizándose como orientación metodológica la Teoría Fundamentada. El artículo aborda el contenido de la subcategoría "Entrando en conflicto con la regulación del SAMU en la evaluación del riesgo de vida", enfocando las divergencias entre la regulación y la percepción de los usuarios acerca del funcionamiento del servicio y significado de "riesgo de vida", factores implicados en la construcción de la demanda no pertinente. La Enfermería se destaca en este escenario por su competencia en realizar acciones de educación sobre primeros socorros y participar de proyectos intersectoriales capaces de intervenir en situaciones generadoras de vulnerabilidad. The article is part of a qualitative study analisys developed in 2009 aiming at investigating the demand of emergency calls to the Emergency Mobile Attendance Service/Porto Alegre (SAMU) that classifies it as non-pertinent. Abstract: the objective of this descriptive, exploratory study with a qualitative approach was to analyze the conceptions of brazilian nursing undergraduates about health education and its subjects and agents. it was developed in the undergraduate nursing courses of the federal university of santa maria and the federal university of rio grande do sul, brazil. the research participants were enrolled in their last semester before graduation. data was collected using a semi-structured interview and submitted to thematic content analysis. the results suggest that health education work is permeated by conceptions that blend traditional and enlarged health education assumptions, although the former are more prevalent. through this study, one perceives the dominance of conceptions which focus on biomedical knowledge translated through curricular experiences guided by preventive actions that emphasize technical and scientific knowledge and individual behavior changes.

Abstract: the current paper sought to analyze the repercussions of maria da penha law on addressing the issue of domestic violence against women in the city of porto alegre based on the view of professionals who constitute the care network for those women. seven professionals, who work with the care for women who are victims of violence, were interviewed. data suggests that the law has promoted changes in the field of violence prevention, assistance to women and punishment for the perpetrators, and it also increased the attention given to this phenomenon and enhanced female empowerment. it is concluded that the strengthening of the measures recommended by maria da penha law still depends on investments in professional qualification, articulated actions between the places which provide assistance and the growing use of primary care services in order to improve the health of women and families exposed to violence.
Factors that hinder of integrality in dialysis care

Abstract: this study analyzes the factors, which from the perspective of the health team and users, hinder the implementation of integrality in care provided by a dialysis facility. this qualitative study collected data through semi-structured interviews held with 16 health professionals and eight users from a university hospital in rio grande do sul, brazil. data were analyzed through thematic content analysis. among the factors that hinder the implementation of integrality in hemodialysis care, the following were highlighted: a deficient service network, delay in accessing diagnostic exams and consultations with specialists, and a reduced number of professionals in the support team. the conclusion is that the health services network needs to be expanded and an effective interface between such networks and dialysis services needs to be established in order to overcome the reported difficulties and contribute to the implementation of integrality in dialysis care.

Abstract: Estudio exploratório, descriptivo, con enfoque cualitativo. Tuvo como objetivo analizar los conceptos de los estudiantes de enfermería sobre la educación para la salud y cuáles son sus sujetos y agentes. Las áreas de desarrollo del estudio fueran los Cursos de Enfermería de la Universidad de Santa Maria y de la Universidad Federal do Rio Grande do Sul. Participaran de la investigación los estudiantes del último semestre de los respectivos cursos. La colecta de datos fue realizada mediante entrevista semi-estructurada y los datos fueran sometidos al análisis del contenido temático. Los resultados sugieren que el trabajo educativo en la salud es infiltrado por concepciones que mesclan presupuestos tradicionales y hipótesis ampliadas de educación en salud, aunque los primeros sean más frecuentes. Se puede observar el predominio de los conceptos con un enfoque en el conocimiento biomédico, traducido por guiar experiencias curriculares en los programas de prevención, con énfasis en los conocimientos técnicos y científicos y los cambios en el comportamiento individual.

Abstract: this experience report is the result of the construction process of workshops on first aid offered to inhabitants of cavalhada, a neighborhood in porto alegre, rio grande do sul, brazil. the workshops resulted from a concern of researchers involved in the project "life risk under the perspective of users of the mobile urgency care service of porto alegre (samu) - inputs for the service management". they aimed to interfere in the studied reality in a dynamic way. with this report, we intend to provide inputs for experiences in teaching first aid.

Abstract: the paper aimed at reflecting on the prevalence of self-care as a possible and desirable result of nursing education enterprises which focus on individual autonomy for one's own care. it can be argued that, in such a context, the teaching toward self-care has been directed according to technical orientations and biased definitions of "being healthy", of what it means to "be autonomous" and the meanings of "taking care of oneself". in this sense, taking into account the premises of health promotion, one questions the potential for self-care teaching to be liberating and to promote autonomy. one asks whether this could be more of a case of yet another investment on the submission of subjects than an action that promotes emancipation. the conclusion proposes "listening" as an alternative for minimizing the dilemmas produced in this context

Abstract: O artigo objetivou refletir sobre a prevalência do autocuidado como um possível e desejável resultado dos empreendimentos educativos da enfermagem com vistas à autonomia para o cuidado de si. Argumenta-se que, neste contexto, o ensino para o autocuidado tem sido encaminhado segundo orienta es técnicas e defini es tendenciosas do que seja "ter saúde", do que significa "ser aut nomo" e dos sentidos de "cuidar-se". Neste sentido, fazendo uso de algumas premissas da promo o da saúde, questiona-se o potencial libertador e de promo o de autonomia deste ensino, indicando como dúvida se este n o seria mais um investimento na submiss o dos sujeitos do que uma a o promotora de emancipa o. Conclui-se propondo a escuta como alternativa para a minimiza o dos dilemas produzidos neste contexto El artículo tiene el objetivo de reflexionar acerca de la prevalencia del autocuidado como un posible y deseable resultado de los emprendimientos educativos de la enfermería con vistas a la autonomía para el cuidado de sí.
