Abstract:
the objective of this research was to verify which are the main mistakes and the successes in the application of mean comparison tests in scientific studies, demonstrating viable alternatives in the sense of increasing the impartiality of the results obtained by researchers. one of the researcher's largest challenges is the interpretation of the obtained results in a trustworthy way. in spite of the concern of most researchers with the data analysis, many times certain disregard is observed in the interpretation of the results. thus, the incorrect application of statistical tests leads the researchers to publish information not completely reliable. one hundred and forty-eight papers dealing with one or more than one factor were evaluated. all of them are related to the crop production major area, published from 2002 to 2006, in the 'ciência rural', a brazilian scientific journal. most of the studies (72%) were classified as incorrect due to the abuse of means comparison tests. in addition, only 4% and 24% were classified respectively as partially correct and correct.

Os objetivos deste trabalho foram estimar a eficiência da sele o, em popula es segregantes de feijoeiro, para a resistência à murcha de Curtobacterium, e indicar o melhor período do ciclo da cultura para se proceder à sele o das plantas resistentes. Foram realizados os cruzamentos convergentes IAC-Carioca Aru x SCS Guará, IAC-Carioca Pyat x SCS Guará e IAC-Carioca Pyat x Pérola, dando origem às gera es F1, F2, F2:3, F3:4, que foram inoculadas com Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. flaccumfaciens isolado 2634. A resistência foi avaliada segundo escala de notas referentes aos sintomas comuns da doen a aos 20, 40 e 60 dias após a inocula o. Os resultados indicaram que as gera es segregantes de Aru x Guará, Pyat x Guará e Pyat x Pérola possuem comportamento semelhante em rela o à resistência aos sintomas da murcha de Curtobacterium. A sele o foi efetiva para as gera es oriundas de Aru x Guará e Pyat x Pérola e o período entre 40 e 60 dias após a inocula o é o mais adequado para sele o de plantas segregantes para resistência. The objective of this study were both the estimation of the efficiency of selection in segregating populations of common bean for the resistance to Curtobacterium and also the indication of the best time of the cycle to make the selection of resistant plants. To this end, we used converging crosses between IAC-Carioca Aru x SCS Guará, IAC-Carioca Pyat x IAC-Carioca and SCS Guará x Pérola, originating filial generations (F1, F2, F2:3 and F3:4) which were subsequently inoculated with Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. Flaccumfaciens, isolate 2634, and evaluated according to a scale related to the common symptoms of the disease at 20, 40 and 60 days after inoculation. The results showed that the segregating generations of Aru x Guará, Pyat x Guará and Pyat x Pérola had similar behavior in relation to resistance to the Curtobacterium symptoms. The selection is effective for the coming generations of Aru x Guará and Pyat x Pérola and the favorable time for distinguishing and selecting reliably segregating plants occurs between 40 and 60 days after inoculation.

Abstract:
The purpose of this work was to examine the effect of different saline concentrations on the cooking time of aged bean seeds. This experiment was conducted at the Molecular Genetics and Improvement Institute (IMEGEM / CAV), employing random block design with two repetitions, in a 2 x 4 factorial arrangement (two cultivars and four doses of NaCl). Two cultivars were tested, one belonging to the carioca group (Pérola) and the other belonging to the black group (Uirapuru). After weighing, the grains were imbibed in different sodium chloride (NaCl) concentrations (0g, 5g, 10g and 25g) for 12 hours at 25°C. Subsequently, these grains were submitted to a cooking test, using the Mattson cooking apparatus. It was then possible to determine the NaCl concentrations in which the cooking time presented a significant reduction. The Pérola cultivar cooking time was reduced by 31 minutes by the addition of 11g of NaCl and the Uirapuru cooking time was reduced by 25 minutes by the addition of 16.75g of NaCl.

Abstract:
In this paper we will take under consideration subordinators and their inverse processes (hitting-times). We will present in general the governing equations of such processes by means of convolution-type integro-differential operators similar to the fractional derivatives. Furthermore we will discuss the concept of time-changed $C_0$-semigroup in case the time-change is performed by means of the hitting-time of a subordinator. We will show that such time-change give rise to bounded linear operators not preserving the semigroup property and we will present their governing equations by using again integro-differential operators. Such operators are non-local and therefore we will investigate the presence of long-range dependence.

Abstract:
The study of distributed order calculus usually concerns about fractional derivatives of the form $\int_0^1 \partial^\alpha u \, m(d\alpha)$ for some measure $m$, eventually a probability measure. In this paper an approach based on L\'evy mixing is proposed. Non-decreasing L\'evy processes associated to L\'evy triplets of the form $\l a(y), b(y), \nu(ds, y) \r$ are considered and the parameter $y$ is randomized by means of a probability measure. The related subordinators are studied from different point of views. Some distributional properties are obtained and the interplay with inverse local times of Markov processes is explored. Distributed order integro-differential operators are introduced and adopted in order to write explicitly the governing equations of such processes. An application to slow diffusions is discussed.

Abstract:
fifteen common bean genotypes (phaseolus vulgaris l.) were evaluated as to adaptability and stability of grain yield in five environments for crop season and late crop season, during 2006 and 2007. adaptability and stability were estimate by eberhart and russell (1966) and by wricke e weber (1986) methods. the results indicated a strong genotype x environment interaction, for four genotypes that presented in crop season, due to significant deviations of regression values. due to high grain yield and insensitivity to environment changes the genotypes chc 97-29 is indicated in crop season, fam 03 and chc 97-15 in late crop season for southern region of brazil. fam 03 responds significantly to good conditions in environment in recommend growing season and should be recommended to be cultivated with modern technologies.

In this paper we consider the general fractional equation \sum_{j=1}^m \lambda_j \frac{\partial^{\nu_j}}{\partial t^{\nu_j}} w(x_1,..., x_n ; t) = -c^2 (-\Delta)^\beta w(x_1,..., x_n ; t), for \nu_j \in (0,1], \beta \in (0,1] with initial condition w(x_1,..., x_n ; 0)= \prod_{j=1}^n \delta (x_j). The solution of the Cauchy problem above coincides with the distribution of the n-dimensional process \bm{S}_n^{2\beta} \mathcal{L} c^2 {L}^{\nu_1,..., \nu_m} (t) \r, t>0, where \bm{S}_n^{2\beta} is an isotropic stable process independent from {L}^{\nu_1,..., \nu_m}(t) which is the inverse of {H}^{\nu_1,..., \nu_m} (t) = \sum_{j=1}^m \lambda_j^{1/\nu_j} H^{\nu_j} (t), t>0, with H^{\nu_j}(t) independent, positively-skewed stable r.v.'s of order \nu_j. Abstract:
Pseudoprocesses, constructed by means of the solutions of higher-order heat-type equations have been developed by several authors and many related functionals have been analyzed by means of the Feynman-Kac functional or by means of the Spitzer identity. We here examine even-order pseudoprocesses wrapped up on circles and derive their explicit signed density measures. We observe that circular even-order pseudoprocesses differ substantially from pseudoprocesses on the line because - for $t> \bar{t} > 0$, where $\bar{t}$ is a suitable $n$-dependent time value - they become real random variables. By composing the circular pseudoprocesses with positively-skewed stable processes we arrive at genuine circular processes whose distribution, in the form of Poisson kernels, is obtained. The distribution of circular even-order pseudoprocesses is similar to the Von Mises (or Fisher) circular normal and therefore to the wrapped up law of Brownian motion. Time-fractional and space-fractional equations related to processes and pseudoprocesses on the unit radius circumference are introduced and analyzed.
