COMPARACIóN DE FACTORES VINCULADOS A LA ADHERENCIA AL TRATAMIENTO EN DIABETES MELLITUS TIPO II ENTRE UNA MUESTRA URBANA Y OTRA RURAL DE COSTA RICA
QUIRóS-MORALES,DIEGO; VILLALOBOS-PéREZ,ALFONSO;
Universitas Psychologica , 2007,
Abstract: the characteristics of the scale for treatment adherence in type ii diabetes - version iii (eatdm-iii?), were compared in two costa rican samples, one from an urban zone and another from a rural zone. the n = 163 (n urban = 104, n rural = 59), both genders. the comparison results show statistically significant differences (p < 0.05) for the following factors: diet, medical control and organization - communal support. the rural zone has the better comparative scores. the study demonstrated the necessity of initiating and maintaining regional research on type ii diabetes mellitus in costa rica, and the same is suggested for the entire latin american region.

Universitas Psychologica , 2007,
Abstract: The characteristics of the Scale for Treatment Adherence in Type II Diabetes - version III (EATDM-III ), were compared in two Costa Rican samples, one from an urban zone and another from a rural zone. The N = 163 (n urban = 104, n rural = 59), both genders. The comparison results show statistically significant differences (p < 0.05) for the following factors: Diet, Medical Control and Organization - Communal Support. The rural zone has the bettercomparative scores. The study demonstrated the necessity of initiating and maintaining regional research on Type II Diabetes Mellitus in Costa Rica, and the same is suggested for the entire Latin American region.

Abstract: this paper develops some theoretical and methodological considerations for the development of a critical competence model (ccm). the model is defined as a set of skills and knowledge functionally organized allowing measurable results with positive consequences for the strategic business objectives. the theoretical approaches of classical model of competences, the contemporary model of competencies and human competencies model were revised for the proposal development. implementation of the model includes 5 steps: 1) conducting a job analysis considering which dimensions or facets are subject to revision, 2) identify people with the opposite performance (the higher performance and lower performance); 3) identify critical incidents most relevant to the job position, 4) develop behavioral expectation scales (bes) and 5) validate bes obtained for experts in the field. as a final consideration, is determined that the competence models require accurate measurement. approaches considering excessive theoreticism may cause the issue of competence become a fashion business with low or minimal impact, affecting its validity, reliability and deployment in organizations.

Abstract: the adhesion to the treatment of the diabetes mellitus type ii (eatdm-iii?) scale was proved, which was composed by the factors familiar support, organization and communal support, physical exercise, medical checkup, hygiene and self-care, diet and valuation of the physical training conditions. the investigation was made in public health centers of the north zone of costa rica, n=59, both genders, it takes place during february-march of 2006. the instrument demonstrated a high reliability (á=0,92). significant correlations were obtained (p<0,05) between each factor and in the total relation factor-scale. the eatdm-iii? is an valuable instrument to measure the adhesion to the treatment in people with diabetes mellitus type ii.

Evolution of polarization orientations in a flat universe with vector perturbations: CMB and quasistellar objects
Juan Antonio Morales,Diego Sáez
Physics , 2007, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevD.75.043011
Abstract: Various effects produced by vector perturbations (vortical peculiar velocity fields) of a flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker background are considered. In the presence of this type of perturbations, the polarization vector rotates. A formula giving the rotation angle is obtained and, then, it is used to prove that this angle depends on both the observation direction and the emission redshift. Hence, rotations are different for distinct quasars and also for the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) radiation coming along different directions (from distinct points of the last scattering surface). As a result of these rotations, some correlations could appear in an initially random field of quasar polarization orientations. Furthermore, the polarization correlations of the CMB could undergo alterations. Quasars and CMB maps are both considered in this paper. In the case of linear vector modes with very large spatial scales, the maximum rotation angles appear to be of a few degrees for quasars (located at redshifts z < 2.6) and a few tenths of degree for the CMB. These last rotations produce contributions to the B-mode of the CMB polarization which are too small to be observed with PLANCK (in the near future); however, these contributions are large enough to be observed with the next generation of satellites, which are being designed to detect the small B-mode produced by primordial gravitational waves.
